Medicines in schoolAt the start of each school year, parents need to complete a newform authorising our staff to administer medicines. If you have notalready done so and have not yet brought new medicines to schoolthis term, please see Mrs Ford asap. We are only able to administerprescribed medication. Please remember that it is the parentsresponsibility, and not the schools, to ensure that allmedicines/ Epipens given to school are in date.

Healthy snacks and water policyWe are very keen to help pupils adopt a healthy lifestyle and as youare aware, we hold a Healthy Schools Award. We would like toremind you of two important points. Firstly, we have a Healthy SnackPolicy and we are very grateful for the support we have had fromparents with this. Children in the Foundation Department and in KeyStage 1 do not need to bring in a snack for the morning break as fruitor vegetable sticks are provided free of charge. Key Stage 2 pupilscan bring in a healthy snack for break, for example, vegetable or fruitsticks, scones, fruit yoghurt or oatmeal raisin biscuits. Items such ascrisps, chocolate biscuits (including Jaffa cakes), fruit winders, sweets and fizzy drinks etc. are notto be eaten at breaktime. Copiesof the Healthy Snacks Policy are available in reception.

Secondly, we encourage all pupils to bring in a small named bottle ofwater that can be refilled in school if needed. Pupils have access tothese throughout the day, including during lessons. These bottlesmust only contain water, If there is a particular reason why water is

not suitable for your child please discuss the matter with the classteacher who may then need to discuss it further with Mr Davis. Please could you ensure the bottles are not placed in childrensReading Folders as we have already had a few leakages andconsequently damaged books! You can now buy FB water bottles

    from the PTA.

Pupils who have a packed lunch may bring with them a squash orfruit drink (not fizzy) to have with their lunch. Throughout the rest ofthe day, they will need to drink water. We thank you for your supportin thisgetting into the habit of drinking water (even if they dontlike it!) is vital!

Parking: We encourage pupils to walk to school wheneverpossible. If you do need to come by car can you please rememberthat the turning circle is for dropping off and picking up pupils. Noparking is allowed inside the school gate or in the outside car parkas it is needed for staff. However you can use the car-parks after4pm if there are spaces available. Can you please also respect ourneighbours and not park across or block drives in Skillman Driveand the roads around. If you are dropping off to Breakfast Club youmay use the outside staff car-park as well as the turning circle.

Walking to/from school: We do not allow children in Year 4 orbelow to walk to and from school on their own. Years 5 & 6 need toreturn the permission slip if they are to do so.

School uniform: Please remember that we have a strict but veryreasonable uniform policy which is available from reception and onour website. School uniform can be bought from the TrutexSchoolwear Centre in Bartholomew Street in Newbury. They havea copy of our uniform policy and supply items with the school logo.We do have a second hand uniform shop run from our Small Hallon Friday afternoons where you can pick up most items for 50p/ 1.

Safety: We do ask that all children with hair below collar lengthmust tie it backit is dangerous and likely to pick up headlice whenit is loose.

Absences: Please remember to let the school know by telephoneon the first day of absence. We shall text parents if your child is notmarked as present in the register and we are unaware of thereason. Please reply by leaving a message on the Absence line orwith the office.

Bikes and Scooters:A large number of pupils are using bikes orscooters. As the playground has literally hundreds of people on itat the beginning and end of the day, we cannot permit these to beused in the school grounds. Please walk cycles and scooters tothe racks They should be padlocked wherever possible.

Kennet Site: Please could we remind you to walk quietly throughthe Kennet site if you enter or exit Francis Baily this way.

Playgrounds:We do not permit the playing of ball games on theYear 1/2 or Year 3/4 playgrounds before or after school.

    Thank you
