Bill White Since the age of 12, Bill White has reveled in being a chef and a foodie. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, he later earned a degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. After moving to Utah, he opened his flagship restaurant Grappa in 1992, followed by Chimayo, Wahso, Windy Ridge Café, Ghidotti’s, Sushi Blue, Billy Blanco’s, and the Bill White Farms. Bill will share his journey, his experiences and his vision for the future through these proven, local businesses as well as with the newly established Bill White Agriculture, Education and Sustainability Center.

** It’s Time for Membership Renewal **

The renewal period for the 2019 – 2020 membership year began on June 1st, 2019.  Membership fees are payable now, with Renewal Forms available on our website (www.parkcitynewcomers.org). You can either print them out there & mail in with your check – or – you can renew in person at our Annual Membership Luncheon. Please note: Due to increased mailing costs, we have increased the annual fee from $55 to $60 for Memberships that include a mailed newsletter. (All Newsletters are available online and can be downloaded for free.) After September 20th, all Club members who have not paid yearly dues shall be dropped from Club membership, mailing list, and printed directory.

Shooting Group

August Weather was warm, but the outdoor pistol range at the Kamas Lions Club was again HOT! Besides safety, we focused on marksmanship basics (grip, stance, sight alignment and trigger control), clearing malfunctions, engaging multiple targets, “getting off the X”, and identifying targets under pressure. Weather permitting, September will see more of the same before we (reluctantly) move indoors for the winter. We’ve had 2 women contact us for initial instruction in August, which is available to any Newcomer and their families. Fine Dining

If you are interested in participating in Fine Dining as a group member or as an alternate, please contact Joyce Jamele at joycedjay@icloud.com. Couples and individuals are welcome. Linda Elbert & Joyce are the co-chairs for this activity. Fine Dining is for people who like to cook, eat, and share conversation around the table. Groups dine together once a month at a members home, rotating locations each month. A menu and recipes for the dinner are provided by the Fine Dining Co-Chairs (Linda and Joyce). New Fine Dining groups are formed every 4 months (currently July through October).  If you are interested in participating in the next session of Fine Dining, from November through February, email Joyce Jamele at  joycedjay@icloud.com.  Please advise her of the size group you can accommodate.    You can always sign up as an alternate.  Alternates fill in when a regular cannot attend a scheduled dinner.  They just bring a dish from the menu and are not expected to host.  If you want to be an alternate, email Joyce.

Wine Tasting

This month, we are tasting Argentine Red or Chardonnay. If you like wine and parties this event is for you.  Our monthly wine tastings are a great way to sample a range of wines and meet new friends.      Each guest brings 2 bottles of the SAME wine, one bottle for tasting (in a brown bag with the price written inside) and one bottle for the hosts.  The price point is $10 - $30 a bottle.
