MEETING REPORT Annual meeting of the Canadian Ophthalmic Pathology Society T he 36th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Oph- thalmic Pathology Society was held in conjunc- tion with the Canadian Ophthalmological Society annual meeting on June 13, 2002, in Hull, Que. The meeting featured 16 case presentations and a pictori- al tribute to the late Dr. Mourad Khalil given by Dr. Seymour Brownstein. The invited guest of the Society was Prof. Philip Luthert, professor of pathol- ogy at the Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, who presented a case of neu- rofibromatosis type 1 with buphthalmos and a staphy- loma. Other presentations included discussions of central cloudy corneal dystrophy of Fran<;ois (Dr. Janice Safneck, Winnipeg), invasive squamous cell carcino- ma of the conjunctiva (Dr. Rod Willis, London, Ont.), conjunctival peripheral T-cell lymphoma (Dr. Jim J 70 CAN J OPHTHALMOL-VOL. 37, NO. 6, 2002 Farmer, Ottawa), mantle cell lymphoma of the orbit (Dr. Valerie White, Vancouver), intraocular blastomy- cosis (Dr. Yeni Yiicel, Toronto), a vasoproliferative tumour of the fundus (Dr. Hugh McGowan, Toronto) and orbital varix (Dr. Seymour Brownstein). Two pre- sentations dealt with the pathology of combined reti- nal pigment epithelial and retinal hamartoma, present- ing as a pigmented choroidal lesion in a 5-month-old in one case (Dr. Allan Oryschak, Calgary) and identi- fied in a patient with an optic nerve sheath menin- gioma and neurofibromatosis type 2 in the other (Dr. Godfrey Heathcote, London, Ont.). A short business meeting was held at the end of the afternoon. The program for the 2003 meeting will be organized by Dr. Godfrey Heathcote.
