CEO’S STATEMENT Another successful year has passed by, raising our HSE commitments to new heights, launching initiatives that ensure employee participation and redefining our benchmarks, thereby challenging ourselves within.
I would like to extend my appreciation to our clients, partners and partners within, who are the EMDAD management and the team members, for achieving the results as indicated in this yearly report. Without the HSE guidance and mandate by our client companies, we would not be so structured. Without the international and local experience of our partner companies, we would not excel. And without the support and performance by our own team members, we would not be able to produce such positive and consistent results.
Our numbers for year 2014 speak for themselves. Incident reporting and LTI are testament to the fact that we are here to report instances as they happen, to take preventive and corrective action when and where necessary and to ensure that continual improvement is taking place with every bit of experience gained.
The report encompasses HSE performance reporting for all of EMDAD Group Companies and sister concerns. This makes us committed that whether it is an established business stream or a newly inducted business division, we would take care of HSE at all levels and functions.
I would like to thank the board members and shareholders of EMDAD for their trust and empowerment without which we would not have been able to achieve the results we have accomplished.

INTRODUCTION This report reviews the annual HSE performance of EMDAD group for the year 2014. Performance data included in this report has been collected from each EMDAD Group Company and combined to reflect EMDADís overall performance. This report also gives a clear and sound overview of the way in which EMDAD and its group watch over the Health & Safety of every person involved in their activities and how they care for the environment.
Entities and divisions covered in the report are:

HSE PERFORMANCE-2014EMDAD has maintained a remarkable safety performance record over the past years. The company’s lost time injury frequency rate compares very favorably with other international and local oil and gas producing companies. During the year 2014 Total Man Hours worked by EMDAD is 624845 with no Loss Time Injury.

NEW POLICY EMDAD HSE department has developed and implemented a Fog, Sandstorm & Night Driving Policy which defines the methods of safe driving practices during adverse weather conditions. Implementation of this policy aims to reduce road accidents by EMDAD employees.

HSE TRAININGEMDAD conducts a range of training courses to develop the skills and careers of their employees. HSE training helps to create strong HSE awareness among employees and is one of the measures that takes top priority in the company. In 2014, EMDAD conducted over 3000 man hours of HSE training which includes in-house and 3rd party training sessions.
HSE CAMPAIGNS HSE campaigns aim to raise awareness on issues related to Health, Safety & Environment, provide information, practical advice and encourage activities that have positive impact in the work place.
EARTH HOUREMDAD participated in the Earth Hour 2014 which was held on Saturday, March 29th, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Objective of the campaign was to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change.
All non- essential lights were switched off at all site camps and at EMDAD base. At site camps, during the Earth Hour, a few activities were conducted to raise awareness among employees and to show commitment towards Mother Earth.

SUNLIGHT CAMPAIGNAs part of its Health Awareness Programme, EMDAD HSE department conducted a campaign called ‘The Sunlight Campaign’ on 27th March 2014 to raise awareness about the importance of Vitamin D for our health.

SUNLIGHT CAMPAIGN As part of Health awareness programme, EMDAD’s HSE department conducted a campaign called “The Sun Light campaign” on 27 March 2014 to raise awareness about the importance of Vitamin D for our health.
HEALTH CAMPAIGNA Health Campaign was organized on 5th Nov for EMDAD employees with the support of Life Line Hospital. The event was held in Al Geemi camp.
Occupational Health Awareness lecture by Orthopedic doctor was conducted. Subsequent to the lecture, there was a Question & Answer session in which employees actively interacted with the doctor. Also, a preventive health screening session by a physician focusing on occupational health was arranged. Employees from Valve services, CP division, EMDAD Services/Intergulf, and Sub-contractors residing in Al Geemi camp participated in the event.

HEALTH CAMPAIGN Health campaign was conducted on 5th Nov for Emdad employees with the support of Life Line Hospital. The event was conducted in Al Geemi camp. WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAYEMDAD participated in World Environment Day on 5th June 2014. The theme for the celebrations was ‘Raise your voice, not the sea level’. Information about the campaign was passed to all employees to raise awareness among all.
TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGN Tree Planting campaigns were conducted in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2014 as part of EMDAD environmental commitment. About 100 trees were planted in EMDAD’s OBM plant and camp area.
Damas tree, scientifically known as ‘Conocarpus Lancifolius’ which is commonly found in UAE residential areas, was chosen for the campaign. Participants of the campaign included the Chairman, CEO, COO, Division Managers, and Plant employees.

HSE INSPECTIONS
Emdad believes that regular workplace/ equipment inspections are an important part of the overall occupational health and safety program. In order to ensure safety, various Third party and in-house HSE inspections were carried our throughout the year to guarantee equipments, machines, safety gears, work place/facilities are safe and are in compliance to local and clients rules and regulations.
Client approved 3rd party companies were engaged to inspect and certify equipments, lifting gears etc. All inspections are conducted based on the yearly inspection plan.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTHEMDAD gives utmost importance to its employees’ health. Various programmes are implemented to ensure that the working and living environments are not hazardous or detrimental to an individual’s health. These include health and hygiene inspections, medical checks, health risk assessments, noise assessments, general health awareness promotions and other specifically targeted studies and training programmes.
For employees who are exposed to certain occupational health hazards such as noise, dust and high temperature, special health screening tests are conducted on an yearly basis. It includes Spirometry, Audiometry, etc.
Noise, Air Quality, Temperature, etc are also monitored on a regular basis to ensure the work place is safe & healthy.

The principle at the base of this document is the development and implementation of participative initiatives, rewards programmes and communication that portrays the positive aspects of QHSE performance.
Upon identifying the various kinds of awards, selected employees are provided with cash awards or gifts worth the cash and a certificate signed by CEO and issued by the QHSE department. Certificates are presented to employees during safety/welfare meetings.
EMDAD received ‘Best Contractor HSE Performance Award- Runner Up’ and ‘Best Contractor HSE Engineer- Runner Up’ (for Mr. Michael) for Q4- 2013 from Takreer for CP project 12RRTSR10903. On 16th April 2014, EMDAD received the award (Certificates and Memento) from Sr. VP & HSEM of Ruwais refinery at a function arranged by Takreer in Ruwais. Out of 30 contractors, EMDAD got the runner up award by scoring 88% for the implementation of HSEMS.

TOP MANAGEMENT SITE VISIT
On 16th December 2014, a site visit was carried out by Al Bawardi Group Board Member & Emdad LLC Top Management at Emdad Oil Based Mud – Thermal Desorption Unit Plant located at Habshan The visit was aimed to Inspect the facility, inaugurate multi game court, reward best performers and meet with the site management & employees at the facility.
A formal HSE induction was conducted by HSEO and HSE performance and plant performance was detailed by QHSE & Operations managers. Subsequent to the presentation management visited the plant and camp facilities. Board Member Mr.Ahmed Al Bawardi inaugurated the newly built multi game court in the camp.

BLOOD DONATION
EMDAD as part of its corporate social responsibility conducted a Blood Donation campaign on 1st June 2014 at EMDAD M45 complex with support from Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.
Theme for the campaign was ‘Safe Blood For Saving Mothers’. This campaign aims to increase awareness about why timely access to safe blood and blood products is essential for all countries as part of a comprehensive approach to prevent maternal deaths. The team from Sheikh Khalifa Medical City was able to collect 57 units of blood from 62 donors.

EMDAD is using a Thermal Oil Recovery (THOR) system supplied by Nov Brandt that applies indirect heat to remove all the hydrocarbon contaminants from the cuttings.
In 2014 EMDAD successfully commissioned an additional unit in the existing facility to increase the volume of cuttings treated. 31,000 MT of oil based cuttings were treated in EMDAD’s plant in 2014.

INTERNAL AUDITS
In 2014, four internal audits were done, of which, two were complete management system audits, one provision of Oil Based Mud Treatment Service, and one for sales & order processing. ISM
ISM procedure which is incorporated into EMDAD IMS system mainly aims to identify, record, analyze and take required actions for process/system improvement. This has been used by many of our TMs for raising suggestions, observations, NCs, etc which has helped us in taking required actions on time and preventing the recurrence of the same. 76 ISMs were raised in the year 2014. 1000 ISMs have been raised till date in EMDAD. 1000th ISM was raised by Mr. Mansour and was a suggestion for quality improvement. QHSE manager circulated the ISM to all employees along with a presentation ‘Know about ISM’ to raise awareness and encourage all employees to make use of the proactive system improvement tool.

MarCap serves the offshore and marine civil construction industry with many diversified vessels and wide range of services, including but not limited to, anchor handling, towage, transport of equipment and personnel, fire fighting and oil pollution control.
