OCTOBER 7-9, 2021
The 2021 Annual Educational Conference will be held October 7-9, 2021 at the Caribe Royale Orlando and Online. The patron saints for The Joy of Medicine will be Saint Philip Neri, the patron saint of joy; and Saint John Paul II. Philip joyfully ministered to the dying in Roman hospitals in the 16th century and gives us an example of how to be joyful amidst the work of caring for our patients. Saint John Paul II showed us how a patient can joyfully bear his suffering.
Joy is the reward for a life lived well, or to paraphrase Aquinas, a life loved well. Joy is an experience we all seek for its own sake, a foretaste of the Beatitude we are meant to experience forever. The plenary sessions of The Joy of Medicine will first explore the nature of joy and its relationship to love and suffering. Second, many speakers will describe how and where they have discovered joy as physicians in an array of settings. Finally, experts will explain how to practically rediscover joy in your life of medicine if joy has become a stranger to you. As a bonus, by attending this family friendly conference in Orlando, you will be able to meet and get to know like-minded medical professionals and family members who seek joy by knowing and imitating Christ.
