Volunteer Opportunities The RCTFC is an entirely volunteer run organization. The club would like to thank everyone for their past dedication and enthusiasm! From time to time, you will receive an email about volunteering to help; for example, at a club clothing sale, at a technical training clinic for your child and their teammates or at a club fundraiser. Your help is always encouraged and appreciated. Some ways you can help out are assisting with putting equipment away or asking coaches if they need help setting out equipment before practice, taking down the club “practice in session: sandwich boards or helping hand out race bibs at a track meet. For more information on this and other opportunities to help the club, please contact Elaine Jensen ([email protected]) or Yvonne Dewith ([email protected]). We look forward to hearing from you. Why we need our volunteers One local club estimates that it costs about $800 per year to maintain an athlete in a track and field club, including equipment replacement, uniforms, awards, etc. This doesn’t include the mandatory fees athletes pay to BC Athletics for insurance each year. Generally, track clubs recoup this cost through membership fees, fundraising, maintaining club coaching and management on a volunteer basis, and government grants.
Haven’t registered for 2018 Season yet? If you haven’t actually registered for the 2018 season yet, required registration forms are posted on the club website at: https://royalcitytrack.files.wordpress.com/2018/01/2018-registration-and-waiver-form.pdf. Please bring completed registration forms along with payment to the first indoor/outdoor practice your child attends or mail them to the address listed on the form. For those not attending indoor training, we would appreciate having them returned as soon as possible. Please contact Caitlin Webster ([email protected]) or Elaine Jensen ([email protected] ) if you have any questions about registration.
Royal City Track and Field Club believes that it is important for track and field to be accessible to local children cost-wise. To this end, RCTFC has set fees as low as possible, the lowest of clubs in the lower mainland. Government grants have disappeared or are under increasing pressure. That leaves the club with two primary options for support:
Using volunteers to accomplish all club activities
Fundraising
