Too much development? The July 2nd meeting (at the DSHS
building) will focus on the development going on around and in our
neighborhood. Our guest speakers will include city and development
representatives.
We are especially concerned about the Acero Parkside proposal of 260 to 290
apartments right behind houses in the northeastern portion of Fircrest. If you
are concerned about this also, please contact [email protected] or
360-836-6736 for more information.

Keeping our children safe!
A reminder from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission:
All children whose weight or height exceeds the forward-facing
limit for their car safety seat should use a belt positioning booster
seat until the vehicle seat belt fits properly, typically when they have reached 4 feet 9 inches
in height and are 8 through 12 years of age. All children younger than 13 should
ride in the back seat.

Get ready for I-5 Trunnion Repair – September, 2020
In September 2020, the northbound bridge of I-5 between Vancouver and Portland will
close for up to two weeks as crews replace a cracked trunnion and other parts that help lift
and lower the bridge. At the center of each wheel that lifts and lowers the bridge is a
20-inch diameter trunnion. A crack has developed in the trunnion on the northbound
bridge’s south tower and the trunnion must be replaced.

Are you concerned
about speeding cars?
If you are concerned about speeders in
the neighborhood, please call the Vancouver
Traffic Complaint Hotline: 360-487-7402.
The more information you can give them
the better (e.g., day(s), time of day, certain
car or just in general).
The Vancouver Police Department uses this data to assign/allocate traffic unit officers, so
never hesitate to call. The more calls they get about a location, the more attention they will
give to that location.

These thanks are long over-due!
It has been awhile since our last newsletter, so these thanks
are long overdue: Thank you to the sixty-five volunteers from East Park Church who
pulled weeds and ivy in Haagen Park on August 19th last year.
East Park Church is also planning a Clean Up on June 30th. We appreciate their hard work!
