ANNUAL REPORT

Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri aims to develop an educational programme and environment which

nurtures students who will endeavor to be good citizens and distinguish themselves in all walks of life.

The academic year 2017-18 has been full of zeal and fervor in the curricular and co-curricular aspect

which contributes towards improving the all-round development of our students.

TRIBUTE TO THE FOUNDER

The school paid homage to the Founder, Shri. Alok Chandra Deb by celebrating Founder’s Day on

7th April, 2017. Mr. Vikram Roy, Manager, paid floral tribute to the founder & described his experiences

with his grandfather while sharing his vision & belief that every child has an equal right to receive the

best education that is available. The highlight of the function was the Founder‘s favourite song –

Anandaloke.

PARENT TEACHER INTERACTION

In the month of April & July, the school conducted Parent Orientations for classes V-XII in order to

encourage greater contact and interaction between the school and parents and provide information

regarding the syllabus, assessment pattern, parent portal, counseling etc.

ENRICHING HORIZONS & LEARNING IS FUN

06.04.17 Humanities students of classes XI and XII participated in the ‘i Parliament’ organized by the

Rajeev Gandhi foundation. Almost twenty schools from across India participated in the event.

Harris Amjad of Class XI was awarded the Best Chief Editor prize by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi.

Students got an opportunity to meet and interact with many eminent dignitaries from Legal

profession and Media.

07.04.17 Class IX students attended a Programme for Environmental Awareness in Schools at

India International Centre which focused on poverty, healthy life and gender equality,

infrastructure and economic growth.

28.04.17 Class XI & XII science students attended the Catalyst Programme at AIIMS Delhi and

observed various medical procedures and demonstrations like ECG etc.

13.04.17, Class XI and XII students attended a lecture by Mr. Ashok Sajjanhar, former

& Pandit JawaharLal Nehru‘s period to present PM Narendra Modi‘s government. He described

Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kirghizstan) in Central Asia. The students learnt about political

development in Crimea, Russia‘s role in India- China political issues and the future of India-

Russia relations.

06.04.17 Students of class VII and VIII participated in Sally Ride Earth Kam at Mayoor Public School,

Noida. The students learnt that during Sally Ride Earth KAM, a camera is operational and

students‘ requests are relayed to a camera on the ISS. The camera snaps photographs of the

designated locations, and the digitized images are transmitted from orbit through a

TDRSS Ku band satellite link to Johnson Space Center Mission Control.

12.04.17 The Astronomy Club of the school organized an innovative and exciting hands-on

astronomy education and astro-tourism session. The event included quiz and the team

prepared a small comet in front of the students and launched a rocket.

28.04.17 Sidra Khan and Brinda Saini (Class 5) participated in the 13th A.C. Deb Memorial Inter

School Art Event on Abstract Painting held at Cambridge School New Friends Colony. The

students exhibited their artistic flair and creativity.

16.05.17 In a workshop organized by TOI the students of classes V & VI learnt to make various forms

of artificial flowers that looked natural in one go.

19.05.17 TOI organized a workshop for students of class VIII on Vedic Maths, an innovative way to

create the interest in Mathematics especially for those students who have developed phobia

of Mathematics.

26.07.17 The Political Science students of class XII organized a ‘One Hour Simulation of Lok

Sabha’ and presented Parliamentary procedure like the introduction of new Minister, Oath

taking of the new member, Question Hour, the Legislative Business, etc.

WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS

a) Students

07.04.17 On the occasion of ‘World Health Day’, Class XII Psychology students conducted a

seminar on ‗Stress Management and Healthy Food Habits‘, wherein they discussed the clinical

symptoms of a depressed person along with ways and means of avoiding such situations.

15.04.17 Class VIII students attended a Computer Operation Workshop on GIMP Software. The

students observed the use of each tool in GIMP, retouching and repairing images, creation of

animated gifs and morphing.

21.04.17 Sonali Das of class XII- E and Areeba Khan of class XII – F attended the 5th International Youth

to Conference - Earth and Man Conference organized by ‗ The Achievers Programme‘ at the

22.04.17 Welhams Boys School, Dehradun. Students expressed their concern about Earth as a planet

while discussing 'Emerging Technologies and Mother Earth'.

17.05.17 A TOI workshop on Anger Management was conducted by Mrs. Vandana Tandon for the

students of class IX. The highlight of the training was ‗various triggers‘ towards anger and

strategies that could be used to control it.

11.07.17 Students of classes XI and XII attended a workshop on ‗Writing an Intellectual History’

organized by the History Society of ERC Noida. Mrs. Gitanjali Surendran, speaker,

enlightened the students on writing an intellectual history and shared views on the caste

system.

15.07.17 SPACE Club organized a workshop for the Astronomy Club students on the topic ‗The

Science of Light‘ to commemorate the International Year of Light. The students observed

reflection, refraction, total internal reflection, convergence and divergence of light

experimentally using innovative teaching aids including unbreakable lenses, mirrors, prisms and

slabs.

18.07.17 Political Science students of classes XI and XII attended the ‘Nelson Mandela International

Day‘ organized by United Information Centre & Working Group on Alternative Strategies.

26.07.17 The school Astronomy Club students had an online interaction with Dr. Kartik Kumar,

Analog Astronaut involved in the Mars Analog Simulation Missions to test processes,

interfaces and systems to support future human missions to the Red Planet.

28.07.17 The students of class VII and VIII attended a Legal Literacy Session of the Delhi State

Legal Service Authority (DSLSA). The Metropolitan Judge Session Court (South Delhi

District) Shri Charanjeet Singh conducted the session and focused on the Environment Law in

India and the Right to Life (Article 21) included in the wholesome environment.

17.08.17 Class XI & XII students participated in the Model United Nations organized by Cambridge

& School Noida. This trained the students on the elementary of diplomacy and the art of debating

23.08.17 Our students participated in Samvad (Jr. Parliament) held at Cambridge School Greater

& Noida. The debates were conducted in four committees- Lok Sabha, All India Political Parties

04.09.17 Class XI Humanities section attended a lecture by Dr. Reena Dutta on 'Secularism is the

Essential Spirit of the Indian Constitution' at Cambridge School Noida. Dr. Dutta‘s talk

referred to the famous episode of Mahmud of Ghazni attacking the Somnath temple.

27.09.17 The Knowledge Confluence and Edutv conducted a Career Counseling Session for the students

of classes XI and XII. Representatives from institutions such as Arch Academy of Design,

World University of Design, Ansal University, Ashoka University, Flame University, Indian

Institute of Art and Design and G. D. Goenka University counselled the young learners. They

elaborated on the various types of courses offered by them and interacted with the students to

resolve their queries regarding career opportunities in India and abroad. It was an enlightening

experience for all the students.

03.10.17 A workshop on Molecular Biology was organized by the Biology department for class XII

students. It was conducted by EduDAP and provided hands on experience for students as

they extracted DNA and also separated the DNA by gel electrophoresis.

18.11.17 Astronomy Club members from the classes VI to IX attended a Workshop on

Astrophotography to explore a DSLR Camera and its importance over other cameras. They

examined the parameters which control light and learnt about ISO, Aperture and Shutter

Speed, etc conducted by SPACE.

24.11.17 The Political Science Department organized a workshop on ‘Fundamental Rights and 10

Judgements That Changed India‘ with the objective to sensitize the audience about the

importance of Fundamental Rights and how the Judiciary of India had upheld the principle of

Rule of Law and the Supremacy of the Constitution.

12.12.17 A Legal Literacy Program was organized for classes VII to IX & XI students. Ms. Anupama

& Gupta, Advocate in South East District Court Saket Delhi, addressed the students. The

13.12.17 Program was conducted by the South Delhi East Dist. Legal Services Authority under the

Administrative Control of Hon‘ble High Court of Delhi. The topics were ‗The Right to Life -

Water Conservation‘ and ‗Protection against Sexual Violence‘. The objective was to impart the

basic knowledge of legal protection against the different types of sexual violence & to highlight

the fundamental duty to save the water. The punishment under IPC (Indian Penal Code) and

POCSO Act 2012 (Protection of Children from Sexual violence) was also discussed.

9.01.18 Mr. Vipul Agarwal Joint Commissioner of Income Tax spoke to class XI students about basic

& Accounting concepts such as assets, liabilities, expenses, incomes, provisions, outstanding

16.01.18 expenses, loan, capital and balance sheet and the Accounting principles/standards, Assumptions,

and of direct taxes and indirect taxes. The students learnt how to prepare the financial

statements in compliance with the Income tax authorities and Companies Act etc.

12.01.18 The Alumni Association of the National Council of Education and Jadavpur University conducted

an Annual Seminar on ‘Indian Space Research and Relevant Achievements‘ which was attended

by class VIII students of the schools Astronomy Club. Shri J.P Joshi, Scientist Engineer Space

Application Centre (ISRO) described Space Research The students also visited the exhibition

on models of Mars Colour Camera Methane Sensor for Mars to measure the radiation within

extremely narrow absorption lines, Mars Orbiter Mission, Distress Alert Transmitter,

Chandrayaan 1, Resource SAT, Ocean SAT 2 etc. The Audio Visual Presentation by SAC

(ISRO) Ahmedabad highlighted various interesting facts about Mars and Indian Space Research.

24.01.18 A lecture on ‗ASEAN AND INDIA’ by Mr. Sajjanhar, eminent scholar and former Ambassador

of India was attended by History & Pol. Sc. students. The lecture traced the background and the

history of the formation of ASEAN, the role of India in ASEAN, the current political conditions and

the future of India in ASEAN.

b) Teachers and Staff

31.03.17 A TOI workshop on Stress Management for teachers was conducted by Mrs. Vandana

Tondon. Some stress relieving measures were introduced to get rid of the day to day stress.

Work life and personal life balance tips were given to teachers to help them balance day to day

routine.

20.04.17 The school Counselors attended a workshop on Guideline Based Counselling organized by

Institute of Counselor Training, Research and Consultancy. The role of teachers was

highlighted in order to extend the knowledge of the students as they already have everything

available to them online, with an emphasis on teaching them the practical applications of all they

learn and to help them understand what the relevance of the information being taught is.

28.04.17 The school‘s English Faculty presentation titled ‗Love in the Forms of Literature: Old and

New’ was an assessment of how the emotion of love has changed over time, and its reflection

in the cultural production of different ages. This was attended by Dr. Kalyani Roy and the

teachers from sisters schools. .

29.04.17 Mrs. Rukmani Maurya attended a workshop on a ‘Strategic Leadership for Schools in a

Changing Environment’ organized by Delhi Police Public School, Safdarjung Enclave. The

workshop was focused on the impact of technology and the changing work culture of the

schools in today‘s world.

05.05.17 The History teachers attended a workshop on ‘Heritage’ by Ms. Purnima Dutt, Prof Menon

and Ms. Usha Srinivisan. The discussion was based on India as the fastest moving land unit.

12.05.17 The Physics department organized a workshop on ‘Experiments based on Properties of

Bulk Matter’. Class XII students put forward the importance of observing the natural

phenomenon occurring in our surroundings, as they are beautiful and fascinating. Through

various activities and demonstrations, the properties of the bulk matters were discussed and

explained.

29.04.17 The Writers’ Workshop was organized by Learn Today in a series of four sessions of

largely prescriptive exercises for language teachers at our school. The goal was to improve

language learning and language teaching amongst children up to middle school by encouraging

autonomous learning as well as by making sure that editing and rewriting skills are reinforced

along with the ability to come up with original emotive and imaginative pieces. The workshop

was helmed by Ms. Mitsu Soin and Ms. Preminda Langer, and in attendance were teachers from

both Hindi and English language departments of all Cambridge Schools. In the second session,

they focused on the creative process and talked about forms of litererute and generes. In third

session, the resource person pointed out nitty-gritties and recommendations for the teachers‘

pieces with scrupulous care. The teachers were encouraged to react to the edits and think

about the changes that were recommended in diligently edited articles sent and returned over

the course of the summer vacations. In the final session the teachers came together to present

their experiments in their classrooms with the newly acquired pedagogy. Speaking both in

groups and individually, the participants spoke of the methods which worked and those which

did not and shared the work their children had so enthusiastically been writing and rewriting

for several weeks.

22.05.17 A Teachers workshop was conducted by Mrs. Jayashree Mehta on ‗Emotional Intelligence‘. The

highlight of the training was the importance of understanding and comprehending the inner self

to understand emotional aspects of a personality in order to relate better with students.

23.05.17 Ms. Meenakshi Uberoi, Education Evangelist & Founding Director of De Pedagogics, conducted

a workshop for our teachers to introduce Microsoft Tools and Office 365.

29.05.17 All Admin. Staff, support staff and teachers attended the Soft Skills workshops conducted

by ERC, Noida to sensitize and create awareness of the need for etiquette while dealing with

parents.

08-09.06.17 Mrs. Bindoo Gupta, HOD, Biology, attended a two-day workshop organized by Genetics

Congress Trust and ICAR-NRC on Plant Biotechnology at the Premier Institute, Delhi. Mrs.

Gupta and other participants also got an opportunity to perform experiments on plant tissue

culture and DNA extraction in their laboratory.

08.07.17 The Commerce Department organized a workshop on ‗Recent Changes in Accountancy

syllabus for Class XI & XII. The workshop was attended by more than 220 teachers from

schools in Delhi/NCR based on the academic topics such as Debentures, change in DRR rule,

Journal Entries for GST, etc.

13.07.17 The Chemistry Department presented a workshop on ‘The River Yamuna - a living

entity’. The students of class XII and teachers shared the sources which pollute the river; to

the pH value of water, BOD, COD and stretch the efforts to be taken to regain the past glory

of the holy river. The workshop sensitized all to save the environment.

05.08.17 ERC organized a workshop on ‘Effective Classrooms‘ including school policies, curriculum,

assessment, community and teacher‘s most important jobs i.e managing the classroom

effectively. The resource person highlighted the variety of skills and techniques that are used

to keep students organized, orderly, focused, and attentive on task. It was attended the by

Class Representatives and senior teachers of the school.

7.09.17 A one day workshop was organized on Academic Supervision and connected issues in

NUEPA (National University of Educational Planning and Administration) for

Principals & Vice Principals. The NUEPA workshop focused on the changes and challenges in

Educational Administration and Management. The concept of instructional leadership and

Supervision was discussed highlighting the various roles the Principal has to play as manager,

administrator, and instructional leader facilitator and of course an educationist. Dr. Manju

Narula‘s tool for Organizational Diagnosis was very good. The role of Principal should be

supportive, assisting, explanative, encouraging, guiding, and advisory, improving and sharing

rather than merely directing. Overall the experience was good and it was an effective learning

process.

09.09.17 Ms. Rachana Chattopadhyay of English Department, Cambridge School Srinivaspuri

participated as a resource person in workshop on 'Teachers and Emotions: ‘Exploring

and Addressing Emotions in Everyday School Context' on the 9th of September,

20l7. The workshop was organized by the Department of Education (Central Institute of

Education) University of Delhi on 9th and 10th of September 2017, under the aegis of IASE — MHRD.

26.09.17 To mark the International Day of Older Persons, United Nations Information Centre and

Anugraha organized a Sensitization programme for educationists and students to promote

‘Ageing with Dignity through Intergenerational Bonding’ Deputy Chairman of Rajya

Sabha, Prof. P. J. Kurien was the Chief Guest for the session staff members Shraddha

Mulchandani and Kriti Chhabra attended the programme which was centered on the critical

issue of ―Generation gap‖ due to the lack of understanding between elders and youth.

10.11.17 On the occasion of ‘School Safety & Healthy Minds’ a seminar conducted by Macmillan

Education India was attended by Mrs. Namita Srivastava and Mrs. Aparna Sandhwar Children‘s

Mental Health and Social Impact on their Life was highlighted by Dr. Samir Parikh, consultant

Psychiatrist director of Mental Health and Behavioral Science. He also discussed the various

aspects of teaching, counseling & mentoring.

05.02.18 Mrs. Bindoo Gupta attended a National Conference organized by Ahlcon International School

on Value Education in a Technology Driven 21st Century. Eminent personalities like Dr. Sonal

Mansingh, Swami Shantatmanand Head Delhi Centre, Ramakrishna Mission, Mr. S. N. Sahu

Former Secretary Lok Sabha and Ms. Ameeta Mullah Wattal, Principal Spring Dales School,

Pusa Road stressed on the need for value education in schools in the present times.

06.02.18 Mrs. Menu Mehra attended a workshop on ‗Media Pedagogy and Practices‘. It was conducted

by Biswajit Das, Director, Media Center, Jamia Milia. He highlighted the importance of media in

today‘s education. He emphasized the fact that learning today has expanded beyond the four

walls of the classrooms.

16.02.18 The Principal attended the 45th NPSC Conference, the theme was ‘Leadership for a Vibrant

& School Culture’. Some of the eminent speakers Dr. Shashi Tharoor and Mr. Devdutt Patnaik

17.02.18 emphasized the changing role of educators in the 21st century. The message that was conveyed

through the presentations and talks was that educators should motivate students so that they

have a desire to learn and it is important to teach our children values. The students are to be

empowered to face the challenges of the society and teaching should and teaching should not be

only Text Book centered.

23.02.18 A workshop was organized for the teachers on ‗Health & Fitness‘ by the Physical Education

department. In which they learnt how to remain fit and healthy.

INTER SCHOOL LAURELS

20.04.17 Manas Sondhi and Dev Gupta of class XII participated in the Interschool Maths Quiz

Competition held at Greenfield School and bagged the 2nd prize along with a cash award of

`500 each.

05.05.17 Students of class IX and X participated in the Nukad Natak Competition based on

―Environment and Climate‖ at Dev Samaj Modern School No. 2, Okhla Sukhdev Vihar and

won the 2nd prize.

05.05.17 Six students from our school participated in and won the 2nd Prize in the Senior category of

Birla Vidya Niketan School‘s Rangalaap-Interschool Craft and Painting Competition at Kiran

Nadar Museum of Arts.

11.08.17 Students of Class XI participated in the Inter School debate based on GST: A Wonder or

Blunder and Class XII students held a Street Play Competition with a topic ‗Incredible India‘

or Boys don‘t cry, Girls don‘t fight‘ organized by Frank Anthony School.

12.05.17 Class X student Pakhee's poem won the Third Position in a country wide competition

organised by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.

12.05.17 Class XII B student Maseera Siddiqui's article won the Third Position in a nationwide

competition for school students organised by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and

Climate Change.

01.11.17 Aditya Dhar of class VIII, secured the first position, Soumya Bhardwaj of class X, bagged the

2nd position and the school won then Overall Trophy in the School Poetry Recitation

Competition at the Poetry Raga organized by Cambridge Noida.

03.11.17 The school organized Inter School Hindi Debate Competition. The topic of the debate

was ‗Vidyarthiyon mai Anushashan bhay se hi sthapit kiya ja sakta hai‖. Dr. Ritu

Narang, Head Digital Training, Saraswati Publications was the Chief Guest. Prof. Ravi

Prakash Gupta, Dr. Ved Prakash and Shri Shashi Dwivedi judged the competition.

17.11.17 The Psychology Department conducted the ‗PSY-FIESTA‘ - an Inter School Competition based

on the theme ‗Life Through Stories‘. Through Psy-Fiesta the school provided young adolescents

a platform to explore and express the aspects of human behavior through stories and narratives.

Dr. Roma Kumar, renowned Clinical Psychologist, was the Chief Guest for the event. Ms. Pooja

Sharma, Psychologist, Ms. Shruti Mushran, Teach-For-India Fellow and Mr. Anshul Raj Khurana,

accomplished street photographer and Head of Talent Acquisition in AIRBNB were the judges

for the events.

The Photo-Story and Narrative Writing event, based on the theme of ―Stories through

Viewfinder‖ was won by Divya Chaturvedi from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya.

The Poster Making event based on the theme ‗Who am I? Real vs. Ideal‘ was won by Nitya Soni & Priya Tanwar from Cambridge School Greater Noida.

The programme concluded with the students of Psychology performing a classical dance, a group

song, a skit based on the folktales of Vikram Beetal and Sakshi Jha‘s self-composed poem on

schizophrenia.

21.11.17 Kulsoom Parveen of class VI won the consolation prize at ‗World Heritage Week‘ organized at

Humayun‘s Tomb. The students of class VI participated in ‗Sanjhi‘ and Drawing Competition

there.

23.11.17 The Inter Cambridge Athletic Meet was held in our school from 21st Nov. – 23rd Nov, 2017.

The various events included the Sub Junior Category and Senior Category such as 100m, 200m,

400m, 1500m race, 4×100 m Relay race, Long jump, High jump and Short put. Our students

bagged 9 Gold medals, 12 Silver medals and 10 Bronze medals.

30.11.17 Shubhojit Sen of X and Shivam Raj of X bagged the first prize in Maths Quiz and Puja Singh Roy

of class V secured third prize in Maths Olympiad in an Interschool Competition organized by the

Horizon School Nizammudin.

07.12.17 Madhav Soni of XI E won the 2nd prize in the European Impressionist event, ‗Image 2017‘ held at

Cambridge School, Noida.

20.12.17 Sub Junior Girls' Football Team secured the 2nd position in the XI A. C. Deb Memorial Inter

School Football Tournament held at Cambridge School Noida.

25.01.18 Students of classes IX, X and XI attended a talk by Ms. Krithika Ashok at ERC based on the

recent revolutionary judgements by the Supreme Court on the Right to Privacy.

31.01.18 The School hosted its Annual Inter- School Garden Competition to celebrate the spring season

and the vibrant beauty of nature. The competition commenced on an auspicious note with the

lighting of the Lamp by the Chief Guest of the day Mrs. Anubha Srivastava, school Principal and

Colonel Jaideep Dang, Member Managing Committee. The Principal, Mrs. Aparna Seebaluck

welcomed the guests and the young nature enthusiasts and highlighted the purpose of the

competition was to instill respect for Mother Nature and its stewards in making our

environment clean, green and beautiful.

The Chief Guest, Mrs. Anubha Srivastava, a renowned academician talked about environment and

stressed that children could learn a lot from each component of it and carry the love for greens

forever. The competition was judged by Mrs. Tara Rangam, Executive Member and Mrs. Kumud

Grover, Vice President, Gulmohar Club of ‘All India Kitchen Garden Association‘.

The competition included an array of categories like Floral Display, Theme Garden and Quiz

Competition.

Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan won the theme based 'Garden Display event'. Cambridge School, Greater

Noida bagged the 2nd position & the third position was secured by DPS World School, Noida

Extension. In the Green Quiz East Point School stood first & Cambridge School, Indirapuram

bagged the second position. The overall trophy was awarded to Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan.

The energetic participation by more than 14 prestigious schools of Delhi / NCR highlighted the

beauty of nature.

organized for Class XII with various rounds including visuals on dance forms of India,

endangered species of animals and rapid fire etc.

03.05.17 Class VI-C bagged 1st position, while two teams, VI-B and VI-D settled on a tie for the 2nd

position in the Quiz competition held for class VI. Students from each section of class VI

participated in teams of three in general Knowledge, Culture and Heritage, Books and Authors,

and Cinema (audio-visual round).

09.05.17 English Department organized a Power Point Presentation Competition for class IX on the

various prose works of famous writers from English Literature. IX F won the first prize, while

the 2nd position was bagged by IX A and 3rd by IX C.

09.05.17 In Just-A- Minute Competition for class VIII, two participants from each section had to

speak extemporaneously on given topics. The winner of the competition was Maria Mohammad

from Class VIII C.

11.05.17 The Intersection Hindi Poetry Recitation competition was organized to build speaking skills and

confidence the children. Children participated earnestly in the competition with different poems

and recited with great enthusiasm. The winner of the competition was Tapashya of class V- B.

Bhomik Khanna of class V-B stood second.

23.05.17 An informative and entertaining workshop was conducted in the school. The moderator was a

resource person by Hindustan Times PACE, Mr. A.D. Bhatt, who is a writer, motivator and

memory trainer. He guided the teachers through his tested methods and metaphors which can

induce effective teaching inside the classroom. He shared his experience with the teachers, who

enjoyed the workshop and were fairly informed about rather interesting ways to deal with

students.

27.07.17 Science Show and Tell Competition was organized for Class V. The students presented their

experiments on Air, Force & Pressure etc. with confidence and precision.

04.08.17 An Intersection English One Act Play Competition was organized for class XI to provide an

opportunity to the students to explore themselves. The students selected very interesting

stories/plays to act on. XI B got the 1st prize.

08.08.17 The students of Class VIII participated in the Intersection Hindi Self Composed Poetry

Recitation Competition to develop love and appreciation towards the subject. Tanya Nagar of

Class VIII B got the 1st prize.

17.08.17 To celebrate Independence Day Intersection Flag, Kite & Rangoli making competitions for

the students of various classes held where the young children got a chance to work and display

their creativity on various themes like Patriotism, Cleanliness and Save Animals. Azqa Arif of

class VI E bagged 1st position in Kite making competition.

23.08.17 In the Intersection English Debate competition for Class XII on the topic ‗Social Network is

a misnomer for Snooping Network‘, Aryaman Sharma of XII C bagged the 1st position.

23.08.17 Class IX Intersection Mathematics Model Making Competition gave an opportunity to

participants to showcase their talent in the field of Mathematics.

25.08.17 The Intersection Ad Mad Competition for Class X was conducted on Social Issues like

Women's safety, Clean India, Road rage, Save Yamuna, Educate a girl child and Say no to

polythene. Students were judged on the basis of creativity, content and overall presentation. X

Computer Presentation using Impress Software. It included a short story using pictures,

07.11.17 Intersection G.K. Quiz ‗About our state-Delhi‘ was organized for class V to learn and gain

knowledge about the state. Yasir Farooqui of class V C got the highest score.

16.11.17 In the English Intersection Competition ‗Enact a Literary Character‘, Ayera Tariq of class IX A

secured the first position, Sania Jalees from class IX E secured the 2nd position and Aditi Gupta

05.12.17 The School hosted a colourful and vibrant Dance Performance by the group Escuela los Cinco

Elementos, Propuestas de Vida from Medellin of Colombia. The performers, Julian Jaramillo,

Danielle Sepulveda and Carolina Prada presented four captivating performances based on

synthesis of various folk traditions of Colombia such as Cumbia, Bullerengue, Mapale and Salsa.

The students of classes VI-IX also interacted with the performers and learnt more about their

rich culture.

08.12.17 The French Department organized the State Level French Competition ‗Concours

Romand Rolland‘ with the help of Prayatna Educational Society, India and Alliance

Françoise, Rouen, France.

Syed Abu Ammar of VI C, Shreya Aggarwal of VIII C and Parneet Kaur Bhullar of class IX F

secured Ist Position in A1 level, A2 level and B1 level Exam respectively.

The competition tested the overall understanding of the language of the students and

08.12.17 Class VII had their Annual Presentations,‗Antardhwani‘ to showcase their talent through the

medium of Performing arts. The programme begn with the school prayer followed by the

Chhahu dance performance. The theatre group presented two shorts plays ‗The Melon

King‘ and ‗Aryan‘ followed by an energetic western music performance. The event was

enjoyed by all the parents who got to witness the skills and prowess of their wards through

school‘s Performing Arts Program.

15.12.17 Class VI Annual Presentation Assembly ‘Goonj” – The Sound of Young Voices’ was

organized with much gaiety in the school auditorium. The two shorts plays – ‘ The Giant

and the Dwarf’- a captivating tale of wisdom and ‘We Are Not Afraid to Die, If We Can All

Be Together’ by Gordon Cook and Alan East presented by the young students won

everyone’ heart. The Chhahu Dance and the performance by the western dance group on

Updown Funk and Jazz themes mesmerized the audience with their perfect moves. The

parents were elated to see their wards on the stage.

22.12.17 Class VIII Annual Presentation was the Christmas Fiesta, highlighting the spirit of the season

The program began with a classical dance performance, the Ganesh Vandana by the students.

The Theatre group presented a short play ‗Playground‘ urging for a world, free of electronic

gadgets and laid emphasis on the need to go out and play every day. Western Music students

brought home the Christmas fervor by singing Christmas Carols. Through a short play titled

‗Birth of Jesus Christ‘, the message of love for humanity was spread all around. In the end the

Western Dance students vibrated the stage with their brilliant moves. The parents applauded

the students‘ efforts.

29.12.17 The students of class XI bade adieu to the 2017-18 batch. The program included a band

performance based on the songs of friendship and nostalgia. A 'Dare to Wheel' game involving

Class XII students in unusual challenges added a lot of fun and excitement. The dance group

performed on the memorable 1990s songs as that was the theme of the day chosen by the

students. The School Captain, Sonali Das thanked the school for constant support and

guidance in the journey of life. Sidharth Prasad of XII-F expressed his gratitude to all. Somal

Chakraborty of XII-C sang a medley of old songs dedicated to the school. Garvit Satija of XII-

B was adjudged Mr. Cambridge and Areeba Khan of XII-F was given the title of Ms.

Cambridge. Class XII sang the school prayer, 'Sanghachadvam Samvadadvam' together one last

time with fervor holding aloft lit candles and praying for their bright future in a poignant

culmination of the farewell.

flower arrangements was ‗States of India.‘ Ist Position was bagged by VI A, IInd Position was

won the silver medal in the International Social Science Olympiad organized by Silverzone

20.1.18 SPACE organized for students of the Astronomy Club a ‗Rendevous with the Night Sky‘. The

students observed the various stars and moon surface with the help of a telescope. The basic

principle and working of telescope was explained to the students. The workshop ended by

providing them with the map of night sky.

23.1.18 An Inter section Animation Competition was conducted for Class VII. The topic was ‗My

Favorite Sports. The students designed an animation clip on their favorite sports using Tupi

Animation Software. Md. Azhar & Archit from class VII F got the first prize and Saksham &

Abhinav from Class VII C secured 2nd position.

07.02.18 The Primary students conducted ―Umang‖ the Annual Presentation. The programme began with

the school prayer followed by a Chhau dance performance. A dramatic presentation on freedom

fighters of India inculcated a feeling of patriotism among students. The young singers enraptured

the audience with melodious songs and the western dance performance delighted the parents.

TRIPS & EXCURSIONS

12.05.17 Students of classes V and VI visited South Asia's first Modern Metro Museum, showcasing

the Delhi Metro that has been opened in New Delhi, the only such installation worldwide in an

operational Metro station.

The students also visited Dak Bhawan, Rail Museum, and the National Philatelic Museum which

has an extensive stamp collection.

29.07.17 Students of Primary classes visited the Craft Museum and saw different types of masks,

kitchen items, toys, famous monuments, statues of Hindu gods and goddess made with clay,

metal, ivory, wood etc. They were also shown an interesting documentary on wood craft. A

musical puppet show was arranged by the museum staff which was enjoyed by the children.

27.05.17 In the Experimental Learning Excursion to Gazaar, Students of classes 6 – 8 participated

to in an adventure camp with a journey amidst the hills of Uttranchal. Students enthusiastically

12.09.17 Students of Primary Classes visited the Srinivaspuri Post Office and were briefed about

& procedure regarding money orders. They also learnt about various stamps and inland letters.

19.9.17 They also visited Nehru Place Fire Station. The Firefighters demonstrated how they deal with

fires in high rise buildings and also explained about the equipment that is used to bring a fire

under control. The children were also taken to see Ashoka‘s inscriptions in Kailash Colony.

28.11.17 The students of classes VI to X participated in a Day Adventure Camp where they engaged

in various activities such as walking on the Burma bridge, human zorbing, zipline, navigating

through minefield, etc. Other group activities such as tug of war, hamster wheel were also

included.

01.12.17 The students of Primary classes visited the ‗Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts‘ to attend

the International Storytellers Festival, 'Kathakar'. Mr. Joe Baele from Belgium, Mr. Peter

Chand from U.K. and Ms. Shaguna Gahilote narrated traditional stories, folk tales and horror

stories with lively gestures, expressions and voice modulation. The fest ended with a

Pulcinella Puppet Show in Italian by Mr. Bruno Leone from Naples, Italy. It was a learning

experience for the students who understand the art of narration with expressions.

11.12.17 Class 6 participated in SIFFCY as Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth.

Our school was also a partner in the event. This is a platform devoted to greater

appreciation of meaningful cinemas for children and youth to bring change in the society by

showcasing films, supporting emerging filmmakers, recognizing the pioneers and leaders of

the industry and by promoting the diverse perspectives of Good World Cinema. It caters to

young people (aged 6 to 25) with different levels of interest in film, whether to watch and

enjoy, create their own work and find out more about career in the film or television

industry. The festival is marked to be the biggest celebration of Good Cinema.

20.12.17 Students of Class IX attended the ‗Solar Observation Festival’ at the Nehru Planetarium.

Visuals such as paintings, computer animations, video clippings and special effects were on

display. The exhibition included the display of Solar Panel, Interface Ring, Master Planetarium

Projector, Celestial Calculator, Lunar Calendar, Newton‘s Reflector and Telescope etc.

The festival included Sky Theatre Interactions related to the Sun Encompassing

Observations from ancient times followed by a detailed discussion on Astronomy by Dr. N.

Ratnashree, Director, Nehru Planetarium. Students enjoyed the Space Show and learnt

17.01.18 The Gandhi Yuva Biradri and Working group on Alternative Strategies commerated the 89th

Birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Students of Classes XI and IX attended the event. The

programme began with a Peace March from the Gandhi King Memorial Plaza followed by

inspirational songs and a film on Martin Luther King Jr. The students participated in an

Interactive session with Mr. Jeffrey Sexton, Minister Counsellor for Public Affairs and

Embassy of the USA.

29.01.18 A Heritage Walk was organized for the students of class IX to the Gandhi Smriti as a part of

the Martyr‘s Day celebrations. Students from class IX visited the place where Gandhiji fell to

the assassin‘s bullets on 30th January 1948. Sohail Hashmi, well-known historian, addressed

the students about how Gandhiji came to Delhi in September 1947 and spent 144 days in

Delhi appealing to his countrymen for communal harmony and unity. Besides knowing about

Gandhiji the visit taught students not to give in to complaints but instead try and do the best

18.07.17 Class VIII enacted important events from Indian history such as scenes of Partition of

Bengal, the Swadeshi movement, Dandi March and the final enactment was the bombing of

the National Assembly at Delhi by Bhagat Singh as part of a week-long celebration of

Independence Day in the school.

26.07.17 A special assembly was presented by the Primary students on Kargil Vijay Diwas.

11.08.17 Special Assembly for Independence Day was conducted by the students of VI - VIII with

dance & musical performances and an enactment of the story of Bhagat Singh.

15.08.17 The 71st Independence Day was one of celebration and patriotism for students,

teachers & parents. Students expressed their love for nation through various performances,

dances, group song, recitation etc. followed by flag hoisting.

05.09.17 A special assembly was organized by classes XI and XII on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. The

programme began with the school prayer and was followed by a short cultural programme

highlighting the significance of the Teacher‘s Day.

27.9.17 A Special Assembly for classes IX and X was organized to involve students in the ‗Rally for

Rivers‘ campaign initiated by Isha Fundation by Sadhguru, in consultation and collaboration with

the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change. Anshul Garg (10-D) and Anjali

Chaudhary (10-C) conducted the assembly and gave a brief introduction of the campaign trough

a short video based on it. The students pledged to rally for rivers and displayed placards in their

classrooms for spreading message regarding the campaign.

01.10.17 A Special Assembly was presented by the Primary students on Gandhi Jayanti Day

with Patriotic song, musical performances and an enactment based on life of Gandhi ji.

01.11.17 In a special assembly, school Alumnus Mohit Suri- Common Wealth Gold Medalist in Power

Lifting as well as a successful senior Supreme Court advocate - interacted with students. He shared

how dedication and hard work urged him to push his limits & win a gold & two silver medals in the

Commonwealth Power lifting Championship in South Africa in September 2017.

14.11.17 Indian Folk Dance activity was organized for class VIII students as a part of Children‘s Day

Celebration. The fun filled extravaganza showcased dances from Punjab, Gujarat and Rajasthan.

The children dressed in colourful ethnic costumes swayed to the beats of folk music.

14.11.17 The teachers conducted a special Assembly for Children‘s Day. Mrs. Meenu Mehra shared her

childhood experiences with the students, followed by the opening thought by Mrs. Prachi Wahi.

The School prayer was sung by the teachers enthusiastically. Mrs. Neeta Sandhir gave a talk on

the need for ethics & values in a child's upbringing. Mrs. G. Shreedevi & Mrs. S. Adhikari recited

self-composed poems, the concluding thought was given by Mrs. Vatsala Pandey. The entire

assembly was enjoyed by the students and culminated with a captivating folk dance performance

by the teachers.

25.01.18 A special assembly was conducted on the occasion of Republic Day. It began on a patriotic note

with the school song & was followed by inspiring speeches & enactments on the history of the

Republic Day. The Preamble of the Indian Constitution was read out to motivate children.

EARTH WEEK

The School celebrated Earth Week with lots of fun filled activities. In this time of global warming it is

important to sensitise children about the need of saving our planet. The students held a special assembly

in the form of Theatre in Education, dressed up in images of planets and enacted a

planet parade. This was followed with the Inter section Just a-Minute Competition wherein the topics

were Conservation of Bio- Diversity, Over-Exploitation of natural resources, etc. Beautiful rangolis were

made on the theme ‗Environment‘. Students of all classes showed concern towards the climate

change, air pollution through the posters.

18.05.17 ‗Story Telling: Theatre in Education’ event was organized by the students of class V based

on the lesson, ‗The Girl Who Taught the World to Weave‘. The event included a small

enactment, poetry recitation and dramatisation, a presentation and a Fashion Show. The

students performed the folk tale of the Mishimis of North East India, retold from ‗When the

World was Young‘ by Verrier Elwin. It was followed by a small Presentation on Khadi

Movement led by Mahatma Gandhi and Sarojini Naidu‘s famous poem, ‗Indian Weavers‘. The

event came to an end with a Fashion Show that depicted different Fabrics of India and the

patterns of weaving.

13.07.17 A Theatre in Education event by the students of class VII based on ‘Nobel Laureates in

Science’ was held. The event included an enactment on the life history of Nobel Laureates like

Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, C.V. Raman and Chandrasekhar and ended with a group song on

the theme ‗Success‘ and a question answer session.

29.07.17 The Music Society of the school organized a concert on ‗Music of Northern India‘, based on

India‘s classical music, Ira Bhatnagar, President of the Music Society, introduced the history of

Natyashashtra, advent of Persian Music and division of Indian Music into Hindustani Music

(North India) and Carnatic Music (South India). Our talented young musicians along with some

alumnus also performed for the audience.

18.08.17 Class IX presented dramatizations on various social issues. Through their powerful acting

and scripting, the students highlighted the problem of increasing use of drugs, excess use of

mobile, the issue of corruption etc.

23.08.17 Kashika Singh of XI-A secured the top rank in her class across India in the Environment

Olympiad by the World Initiative to Save Environment (WISE) 2017 with her outstanding

performance. This Olympiad was conducted in collaboration with India-EU Water

Partnership, European. Commission, GIZ and Danish Water Forum to make the future

generation aware about the challenges and solutions to save the planet Earth and to create

awareness about the sustainable development goals adopted by the United Nations.

29.12.17 Students of class XI gave a grand Farewell to the batch of 2017-18. The programme

included a thrilling band performance on songs of friendship and nostalgia. A 'Dare to

Wheel' game involved the seniors in unusual challenges which they performed

enthusiastically adding to the fun and excitement of the event. The dance group amazed all

with their moves to those memorable 1990s songs. A moving farewell speech was given by

the School Captain, Sonali Das to thank the school and Sidharth Prasad of XII-F also

expressed his gratitude to one and all. Somal Chakraborty of XII-C sang an emotional

medley of selective old songs dedicated to his teachers and school. Garvit Satija of XII-B

was Mr. Cambridge and Areeba Khan of XII-F was given the title of Ms. Cambridge based

on a poll by the students. Class XII sang the school song, 'Sanghachadvam Samvadadvam',

one last time with fervour; holding aloft lit candles and wishing for the bright future of the

batch of 2017-18 in a poignant culmination of the farewell in the presence of all staff and

MOCK DRILLS

To create an environment for school safety & to spread awareness amongst staff & students, earthquake

mock drills were conducted for all classes. Students were given training to react suitably in an

emergency.

The school actively participated in the NDTV ‗Behtar India‘ Campaigning. Problems such as hygiene,

pollution, water shortage and diseases were emphasized. Children were made aware of the precautions

and causes of dengue. The students were motivated and encouraged to work for a bigger goal that is to

make India a ‗Behtar‘ place.

Cambridge School Srinivaspuri has been appreciated and acknowledged by NDTV and DHFL Pramerica

Life Insurance for the contribution of students and teachers in the Campaign which aimed at mobilising

students and ordinary citizen to join a nationwide movement that focused on Health, Hygiene, and

Environment.

20.07.17 The Investiture Ceremony for the year 2017-18 was organized to appoint the school

appointees and prefects. Dr. Poornima Sunil Talwar, Associate Professor,

Commerce at Laxmi Bai College, and school alumnus of the school was the chief guest.

The students were conferred with badges and sashes by the Principal and the Chief

Guest. This was followed by the oath taking ceremony in which students affirmed that

they would abide by the school rules and uphold its traditions and values.

INTERACT CLUB INSTALLATION CEREMONY

The Installation Ceremony of the school‘s Interact Club was held on 1st August, 2017. Interactors from

classes XI and XII presented a cultural programme based on the theme ‗Women Empowerment‘. The

Board members for the current year 2017-18, were announced and Pinning Ceremony was held as well.

Inspiring speeches were given by the Club President and Director, Rotary Youth Services to encourage

the students to give back to society. The Ceremony was attended by various Rotary International

members.

The President Elect announced the plan of action for the coming year which included Blood Donation

Camp, No Crackers Campaign, ‗Alok‘- An initiative to empower and uplift underprivileged children,

Fundraising for CanSupport- A Cancer Foundation for the underprivileged, etc.

01.08.17 As a part of the continuous endeavor to serve the society, the School‘s Interact Club

organized a Blood Donation Camp in school in collaboration with the Rotary Blood Bank.

NAVAL WEEK CELEBRATION

17.08.17 Our school was selected by the Indian Navy to be a part of the Naval Week Celebrations.

Lt. Commander Manas P Boruah (Submariner), Lt. Commander Venkatesh Kumar (Pilot)

and Lt. Commander Kumari Chitra (Lady Officer) addressed the students. They inspired

the youngsters, explained the process of selection in Indian Navy and encouraged the

children to serve the nation.

SCHOLAR BADGE CEREMONY AND PRIZE DISTRIBUTION

The Scholar Badge Ceremony was organized to acknowledge the academic excellence of

meritorious students of all classes for the year 2016-17. The Principal lauded the efforts of all

students whose dedication and hard work enabled them to secure exceptional results as well as

remarkable improvements. Kudos to those students who achieved perfect scores of 10 CGPA in

class X in the All India School Certificate Examination as well as the stream toppers and the

students scoring 90% and above marks in class XII AISSCE 2016-17.

Mohd Hadaan won the 63rd School National Games held at Nabha Punjab secured Ist Position won

Gold Medal.

Zonal Athletic Meet (2017) of Zone 25 schools was held at Tyagraj Stadium on October 16, 17 and 23. 73 schools participated in this event .

by the beliefs of the Founder- Mr. Alok Chandra Deb, the competition catered to a wide range of skills

including rhetorical finesse, an appreciation of literature with eloquence of speech. The Chief Guest,

Mrs. Meera Handa, Member (Planning) Postal Service Board, inspired the students to soar higher,

hone their oratory skill and give back to the country. Participants from twenty schools attended the

program and brought forth many fresh perspectives on the topics given.

In Senior Category Division A Jessica Singh of Spring Dales School, Pusa Road claimed the first Prize, 2nd

prize was awarded to Ruchit Tandon of DPS, Noida and the third position was secured by Ananya

Pareek of Amity International, Noida.

In Junior Category Division B first, 2nd & 3rd position was secured by Vaishnavi Kalia of Spring Dales,

Dhaula Kuan, Pauline Awungshi of St. Thomas Girls SSS and Anna Upreti of Amity International, Noida

respectively.

NATIONAL LEVEL TECHNICAL TRAINING PROGRAM BY IIT KHARAGPUR

Cambridge School Srinivaspuri was selected as the Zonal Center from 3rd October to 6th October 2017

National Level Technical Training Programme for ‗Cyber Security/ Ethical Hacking‘ as part of the Spring

Fest of IIT Kharagpur. Mr. Sahil Baghla, an internationally renowned expert on ethical hacking and cyber

security and founder/CEO of EHI InfoTech | hacking scam Units was chosen as the trainer by IIT

Kharagpur.

At the end of the workshop the students went through a test. The through which following students

CBSE CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME

A workshop on Remodelled Assessment Structure for Class X under the Capacity Building Programme

by the Central Board of Secondary Education was conducted on 13th October, 2017 at Cambridge

School, Srinivaspuri.

The spokesperson for the first session of the workshop was Dr. Pragya M. Singh, Joint Director, Centre

Of Excellence, Gurugram and the second session was taken by Dr. Shweta Singh, Joint director CBSE,

Academic Unit, New Delhi.

The objective of the workshop was to ensure that the teachers and coordinators are abreast with the

Remodelled Assessment structure from the academic year 2017-18 for class X.

7th A.C. DEB MEMORIAL LECTURE

Under the aegis of the Society for the Advancement of Education, the 7th A.C. Deb Memorial Lecture

was organised in Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri on 30th October 2017 in memory of the visionary

educationist and founder, Mr. Alok Chandra Deb. The event began with the lighting of lamp by Mr.

Jairam Ramesh, Member of Parliament and Dr. Kalyani Roy, Secretary, Society for the Advancement of

Education.

The Guest Speaker of the day, Mr. Jairam Ramesh spoke about the necessity of quality education to

modernize India and to develop discipline in order to acquire both intensive as well as extensive

knowledge. He focused on the need for creative and novel methods of education.

He also spoke of the importance of reading as children growing up in a technologically advanced world

often forget the virtue of real-world interactions and become numb to the idea of social empathy. Mr.

Ramesh concluded by acknowledging and honouring the efforts and zeal of an exceptional educational

entrepreneur such as Mr. A.C. Deb. The programme concluded with the singing of the favourite songs

of the founder by the school choir. It was attended by the staff and students of all Cambridge Schools.

Moving one rank up from last year‘s survey, Cambridge School Srinivaspuri was ranked 6th amongst the

top 10 schools of South East Delhi in the Times School Survey conducted by the Times of India across

Delhi/NCR for the year 2017.

of Indian Universities at the National Skill Development Summit 2017.

07.11.17 The School has been acknowledged by the International Association of Educators for

World Peace with the World Environmental Education & Development (WEED) Award.

09.12.17 The School has received the Brainfeed School Excellence Award 2017-18 for being in the

top 500 schools of India as well as for being amongst the Best Schools of Delhi.

09.12.17 On the occasion of International Human Rights Day, the Principal Mrs. Aparna Seebaluck

has been awarded the Global Human Rights Protection Award 2017 by Indian Institute of

Human Rights in the 18th World Human Rights Congress.
