We have some twin data. Rams who were raised as twins have “twin” written below their tag number (we don’t have data on all the rams so those that are left blank aren’t necessarily definitely a single).

Rams that are ET bred will have this written below their tag number.

What are ASBVs

Australian Sheep Breeding Values are an estimate of an animal’s true breeding value based on pedigree and performance recorded information.They are essentially a projection of how that animals progeny will perform for a range of traits.

Ycfw - ASBVs describe the value of animals’ genes for wool weight – a positive ASBV means a genetically heavier-cutting animal.

Ysl - ASBVs describe the value of animals’ genes for staple length measured in mm. Rams with more positive SL ASBVs will produce progeny with longer fibre.

Ywt - ASBVs describe the animals’ genetic merit for growth rate. A positive ASBV means the animal is genetically faster growing.

Yfat - ASBVs describe the value of an animals’ genes for fat depth at a constant weight – a negative ASBV means a genetically leaner animal.

Yemd - ASBVs describe the value of animals’ genes for eye muscle depth at a constant weight – a positive ASBV means a genetically thicker-muscled animal, and one that will have slightly more of its lean tissue in the higher-priced cuts.

Merino Production Index

The Merino Production (MP & MP+) indexes rank animals on their ability to produce progeny for a fine wool operation that has significant surplus sheep sales.

The index is aimed at those producers whose sheep income is a balance of both wool and surplus sheep sales. It is for self-replacing merino flocks who do not keep their wethers to produce wool.
