This Week in Our Parish: April 3 to 9 Weekly Mass Intentions: April 1 to 7
Fifth Sunday of Lent: Eze. 37.12-14; Rom. 8.8-11; John 11.1-45 (longer) John 11.3-7, 17, 20-27, 33b-45. Jesus
called to his friend from the dead, “Lazarus, come out!” It is
the same call our Lord makes to us unceasingly: “Come out!”
Jesus calls us from our tomb of doubt and unbelief, from the
darkness of our fear and anxieties; from the depths of our
weaknesses and lack of hope. Christian stewards pray for an
open heart, so that they may hear the voice of the Lord, heed
the continuous call to come away from their former way of
living and reprioritize their lives in the light of the Gospel of
Jesus Christ. Do we believe Christ has the power to trans-
form our lives? Do we take time to listen for his call? ICSC April 2017 e-Bulletin
Sunday Collection: Collection for last week was $9,258.50.
TIA to date for 2017 is $13,284.10.
Our 2017 target is $43,837.00.

Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Just as he raised Lazarus from the dead he can bring you to life. Recon-ciliation helps us turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel by removing the obstacles that hold us back.
Action: On the path to Easter and the celebration of Christ’s resurrection, reflect on the words of Ash Wednes-day, “Turn away from sin.”
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered on Wednesdays April 5 and 12
from 7:30pm - 8:30pm

OUR FAITH IN ACTION A Project Funded by TIA in 2016
Alzheimer Society of Calgary Educational Dementia Video Series
The generous funds through Together in Action have enabled the Alzheimer Society of Calgary to produce an educational dementia video series. The videos, featuring experts on the subject of dementia, have been professionally filmed, pub-lished and shared with impacted families, community partners and the public.
The Challenge The demand for educations programs far ex-ceeds our capacity to deliver. This is evidenced by the in-creased waitlist for these sessions over the past year.
Talking About Dementia public education session (Jan 2017), normally draws up to 150 people and provides in-depth infor-mation from dementia experts about diagnosis, treatment and current research. This year, our event accommodated 250. 450 people registered to take part in the event, resulting in a waitlist of 200 people. Because of this, we are currently working on supplementing our educational calendar with additional events to accommodate this waitlist.
Caregiver Strategies are monthly sessions designed to help caregivers learn strategies to adapt and cope with day-to-day living. The demand for this session surpasses our ability to fa-cilitate and is often booked up two to three months ahead. We are currently exploring ways to provide more of these sessions.
Education requests are declined regularly. With limited staff and educational resources, we are forced to turn down legiti-mate requests for education across in and around Calgary.
We receive feedback on a regular basis requesting online solu-tions for people unable to attend sessions. In addition to our events being over-subscribed, there are numerous individuals unable to attend due to restrictions such as location, physical disability, or personal restrictions (such as caregiving responsi-bilities). The educational dementia video series transcends common barriers that currently prevent these people impacted by dementia from accessing the information they need. Con-tent provided in the videos is designed to help families learn about Alzheimer and other forms of dementia and help them manage changing behaviours and find support and resources. The videos are published on the Alzheimer Calgary web site and on YouTube.
The Alzheimer Society of Calgary sincerely thanks the RC Dio-cese of Calgary for its generous funding through the Together in Action grant, and for enabling us to reach a greater number of individuals affected by dementia through this educational video series. By sharing essential information with a wider au-dience, you have increased our capacity as an organization, so that more individuals impacted by dementia can benefit from and be empowered by knowledge that will help them to life live well despite the disease.
