NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY Sophomores and juniors with a 3.5 GPA or higher are

eligible to apply to National Honor Society. Pick up an application from Mrs. Davis in room 250.

Applications are due Wednesday, February 5th.

CREATIVE WRITING CLUB

It’s not too late to join the Creative Writing Club! The club meets Thursdays from 2:45—4:00pm in Mrs. Fowler’s room 102 in the DAE building.

Just bring your passion for writing and your imagination. We talk and laugh and write. Some students share what their pieces are about and

others prefer to keep it to themselves—it’s completely up to you!

DRESS CODE REMINDERS

Please refer to the 2019-2020 Parent Student Handbook, Administrative Policies, page 17 –18, for all Dress Code policies. This is a reminder of a few of the following inappropriate apparel:

Jeans/slacks MUST NOT have holes that expose skin in areas more than 7” above the crease behind the knee.

Shirts/tops/dresses showing midriff or are cut too low. Hats, bandanas, hoods or headgear (including headbands & sunglasses) must be removed upon entering the building. Sleeveless shirts/tops/dresses without collars or crew necks (shoulder straps less than 2 inches in

width.) Shorts, skirts, and dresses more than 7” above the crease behind the knee.

PENNIES FOR PATIENTS—NOT JUST PENNIES!

The Pennies for Patients competition is between 4th hour classes to see who can raise the most money for the

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. All types of money are accepted, not just pennies!

The 4th hour with the most money wins a pizza party. Donations will be accepted Feb. 3rd—14th.

ATTENTION STUDENT ATHLETES!!

The Athletic Office is doing a last call for any athlete that plans to play their sport at a college.

February 5th is our signing date. Please see Mrs. Bruce in the Athletic Office to fill out your bios for the newspaper. You must sign up for the

signing ceremony in order to participate and must have proof of college scholarship!

ATTENTION ALL GIRLS INTERESTED IN PLAYING SOCCER!!

For all girls interested in playing soccer this spring, there will be a pre-season meeting on Thursday, February 6th

at 3:00pm in Coach Kelsey’s room 258. We will discuss the tryout process and other

relevant information for the upcoming season. Please attend if you plan on trying out in March!

MR. DAVISON CONTEST Boys—do you want an extra $25, $50 or $125??

If so, sign up to participate in the Mr. Davison contest, the winner could be you!! Sign ups are outside of Ms. Aboneaaj’s room 212.

Tutoring Available

Tutoring is available in the library every Tuesday and Thursday until 3:30. If you need help in any class, come to the library right after school to get help!

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS WHO PARK ON CAMPUS!!

PLEASE make sure you are parking in the parking spot which has been assigned to you! If someone is in your spot, please do not shift to the next spot as that is also

someone’s parking spot! If this happens, park in the front drop off area and come to the front office to get a temporary parking permit for the day.

Also, please take a picture of the car license plate and/or permit # so that we can track down who is parked in your spot.

ALL STUDENT PARKING LOTS are full!

If you do not have a parking permit, you should not be parking on campus!

DAVISON HIGH SCHOOL CHOIRS & ALMA COLLEGE CHOIR CONCERT

The Alma College Choir and the Davison High School Choirs

will join together for a concert at Davison High School on Wednesday, February 26, 2020.

The 90 minute concert will begin at 6:30pm and is open to the public. Davison High Choir alumni Sasha Dudock & Maddison

Luebke will be performing with the Alma College Choir.

GENTLY USED WARM ITEMS DRIVE

There will be a drive/collection of gently used hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, socks, sweatpants, stretch pants, tennis shoes, and new un-

derclothes from February 3rd—14th. This is sponsored by a member of the National Honor Society.

All items collected will be donated equally among the elementary schools in Davison.

Collection containers will be by the doors of the school.

STOCK IT TO ME DONATION DRIVE February 1—29th

Collection box is located by the front office.

The Stock it To Me Drive will help replenish supplies in our school building’s food pantries/closets to assist those students who need some extra help.

Local churches Journey Ministries & Davison Free United Methodist Church have partnered with Mrs. Maria Freeman whose generous heart and servant

spirit was prompting her to do something for the students at DCS.

Items being collected are: Trial sized toiletry items Full sized or travel sized deodorant Toothbrushes Lip balm Face & body wipes Facewash Feminine hygiene products Laundry pods or small sized laundry soap Quick fix food items such as macaroni & cheese cups, pasta cups, oatmeal cups or packets, cereal bars, granola bars, jerky, fruit cups, etc.

The Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) at Hurley Medical Center is looking for volunteers! HELP is a comprehensive program of care for hospitalized older patients. For those

students interested, the first step in volunteering at Hurley is to sign up on-line and then attend a volunteer orientation (these are held monthly.)

The Care Team has volunteer opportunities in the following areas: Administrative Volunteer: Seeking volunteer to perform administrative tasks such as creating mailings, packets or assisting in filing. All done in a relaxed environment. Snacks provided!

Hours are flexible between office hours of 8:30am—4:30pm Standard volunteer commitment is 2 times per month for 1.5 hours. Office is located at 5401 Gateway Center Drive, Suite D, in

Flint. Student must be 16 years old and be able to complete background check.

Direct Patient Care: Volunteers will sit with our patients and provide emotional support by means of talking and sharing life, as well as facilitating a variety of activities. Volunteers are

placed with a hospice patient at a facility in our network near them. Volunteers are expected to visit between hours 10:00am—5:00pm, weekend visitation is available.
