WEEKLY NEWSLETTER | DECEMBER 16, 2018 | VOLUME 51 | ISSUE 47
Churches were created by God as support groups for believers. Hebrews 10:23-25 tells us not to quit “meeting together” but to “encourage” each other espe-cially since the day of the Lord is upon us. In 1 Corinthians 14 Paul speaks to a church that is especially troubled with interpersonal relationships. One of their problems was their meetings (church in our vernacular). They were not honor-ing each other when they gathered up. In 14 as he speaks to another of their problems Paul references being “built up,” “encouraged,” “edified,” etc... at least 13 times. (The trans-lated word varies with translations). His point is that “church” is to be a time of helping one another and encour-aging each other. It is a time when the family of God gath-ers around the table and it is supposed to be of benefit. It is a sad commentary when saved people are together and do not act saved. Or, when a group meets the time is more about HOW things are done rather than HELPING each other along. Often gatherings result in disputes about FORMS rather than encouragement. This was the problem at Cor-inth.
So, what is my task at gatherings? Maybe I should give some thought and prayer about how I can make assem-bly just great for everyone else. Maybe sharing a kind word, singing like I’m singing a song to my child, creating an at-mosphere of encouragement to every person I meet.....? If I do all I can to encourage and build up and strengthen and all my church family does the same thing just how great would assembly be?
Sunday AM class is a study of the church at Corinth. Hope you will be with us. Foree

“HUGH THANKS”
in advance of receiving our Gift Cards. They said they cannot say how much

children in their care!
Cell Phone vs the Bible
I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like
we treat our cell phones?
What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to kids as gifts?
What if we used it as we traveled?
What if we used it in case of an emergency?
This is something to make you go...hmm...where is my
Bible?
Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don’t ever have to worry about our Bible being disconnected
because Jesus already paid the bill!
vs
A friend just sent me this little poem, that has made me smile and know that I’m not alone. Just like to pass it on to all those who may feel all alone. Don’t know where they got it from, but love the ending of each line- “as on OUR way WE go”.
There Isn’t Much
There isn’t much that I can do, but I can share my bread with you and sometimes share a sorrow, too – as on our way we go.
There isn’t much that I can do, but I can sit an hour with you and I can share a joke with you and sometimes share re-verses, too – as on our way we go.
There isn’t much that I can do, but I can share my flowers with you and I can share my books with you and sometimes share your burdens, too – as on our way we go.
There isn’t much that I can do, but I can share my songs with you and I can share my mirth with you and sometimes come and laugh with you – as on our way we go.
There isn’t much that I can do, but I can share my hopes with you and I can share my fears with you and sometimes shed some tears with you – as on our way we go.
There isn’t much that I can do, but I can share my friends with you and I can share my life with you and oftentimes share a prayer with you – as on our way we go
