CiOME 2015 will be the 5th edition of this intemationol gathering ofexperts and Investors in the hydrocarbon, energy and mineralindustry of Chad and Central Africa in particular and Africa in

general. The country will showcase the hydrocarbon, energy and

mineral industry and also present new opportunities in these

sectors in Chad.

The Republic of Chad is divided into three major geographica!regions: a desert zone in the north, an arid Sahelian belt in the

centre and a savannah zone in the south. Loke Chad is the iargest

wetland in Chad ahd the second largest in Africa. Chad is home to

over 2C0 different ethnic and linguistic groups. Arabic and French

are the official languages. !t is bordered by übya to the north.

Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south,

Cameroon and Kigeria to the southwest, ond Niger to the west.

Hydrocarbon Sector

The hydrocarbon sector is under the superVision of the Ministry of

Petroleum, Mining and Energy of Chad and works closely with

Societe des Hydrocarbures du Tchad SA (SHT), the national oil

Company of Chod. Hydrocorbons remained the leading segmentof the economy of Chad. Chad is ranked os the tenth-lorgest oil

reserve holder among African countries, with l.S billion barre's of

proven reservesasof January 1,2013, according to the Ol! and Gas

Journal. The Djermaya refinery is now open to source local ond

international markets with petroleum products. This refinery is

producing gasoline, diesel, kerosene, polypropylene, iiquefied gas

and fuel oil. Crude oil production in Chad was an estimated

115,CC0 barreis per day (bbl/d) in 2011 and 105,000 bbl/d in 2012.

Energy SectorAs of January 2C04, Chad had 30 megawatts (MW) of instolledelectricity generating capacity, of which 100 percent was

conventional thermal- In 2C04, the country generated 0.09 biliion

kilowotthours (Bkwh) of electricity, while consuming 0.09 Bkwh.

Secteur des hydrocarburesCe secteur est place sous la tutelle du Ministere du Petrole desMineset de ['Energie du Tchad qui travoille en efroite colloborationavec la Societe des Hydrocarbures du Tcnad (SHT). Les hydrocar¬bures restent le segment leader de Tecor.omie du Tchad. Le Tchadest classe dixieme producteur africoin en terme de reserves depetrole . avec 1,5 milliards de borils de reserves prouvees depuis leler Janvier 2013, seien le Oil and Gas Journal. La raffinerie deDjermaya fonetionne et ravitaiile le marche local et internationalavec les produits petroliers. Cette raffinerie produit de fesser.ce. dudiesel, du kerosene, du polypropylene, du gaz et du carburantliquefie. La production de petrole brut au Tchad etait estimee ä115 000 borils par jour (b / j) en 2011 et 105 000 b / j en 2012.

Secteur energetiqueEn Janvier 2004. le Tchad avaif 30 megowatts (MW) d'electricite

Secteur minier

Ce secteur est largement sous explore. Ses ressources mineroles

comprennent Turanium, le notron, le kaolin, Tor. la soude calcaire,

les pietres, le sable, le gravier et du sei. Des etudes indlquent un

taon potentiel, en particulier pour Turanium, Tor, lo bauxite, Targentet des diamants olluviaux. Plusieurs compagnies de

recherches minieres sont interessees par ce secteur.

Energies renouvelables

Le Tchad, vaste pays d'Afrique sahellenne, dispose d'importantespotentiolites, telles Teolien, le solaire et lo biomasse. Du Nord au

Sud du pays, le soleil brille de 2750 ä 3. 250 heures par an.

Par ropporf ö Teolien, le Tchad est dote d'un gisement tres

important dans les regions du nord oü il y a deux chaTnes montag-

neuses: de meme que dans les regions du centre et du sud.

Mining SectorThis sector is largely undeveloped. Its mineral resources inciude

uranium, natron, kaolin, gold, limestone, soda ash, stone, sand,

gravel ond salt. Studies indicate good Potential, especially

for uranium, gold, bauxite, silver and alluvial diamonds.

Mineral companies are interested by this sector.

Renewable Energies

Chad is a vast Sahelian Africa country and has great potential,

such as wind, solar and biomass. From the North to the South, the

sun shines 2.750-3.250 hours per year. In regards to the wind, Chadhas a large potential in the northem regions where there are two

mountaln ranges; as well as in pa/ts of central and southern.
