BRIEF PROCESS DESCRIPTION
1) 2, 5 DICHLORO NITRO BENZENE
Manufacturing Process:
Mixed acid containing concentrated nitric acid and concentrated sulphuric acid is reacted with 2,
5 Di Chloro benzene to produce 2, 5 Di Chloro nitro benzene. The reaction gets completed in
series of nitrators with cooling coils and jackets. Reaction is followed by dil. sulphuric acid
separation, washing by water and soda ash, drying to get a 2, 5 Di Chloro nitro benzene and
unreacted 2, 5 Di Chloro benzene. Unreacted 2, 5 Di Chloro Benzene is recovered by steam
distillation and recycled.

ANNEXURE VII
EFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANT PROCESS DESCRIPTION: The dilute effluent from process plant and washing is taken to oil & grease trap for separation, oil and grease is skimmed off from the top. Effluent is then pumped to pH correction tank where pH is neutralized between 7.00 to 8.00 and compressed air is used for agitation. Then it is transferred to equalization tank where effluent from blow down (Cooling tower) is added and it is passed through filter press, where sludge is sent to decanter for sludge dewatering then it is taken to equalization tank after that effluent is pumped to primary settling tank where suspended solids are settled and the sludge is taken into membrane filter to separate the solid. Dried sludge is stored in a sludge storage tank. Clear water from settling tank is taken into aeration tank In this tank, extended type aeration system is adopted. Biological treatment is given to the effluent. Overflow is taken into secondary settling tank for excess sludge settling, biomass is recirculated in aeration tank if required or sent to membrane filter press. Overflow from secondary settling tank is passed through activated carbon filter + Sand filter and then taken into collection tank from where it is sent to GIDC Pipeline.
