Introduction

Strategic Consulting Group (SCG) is a hydro power project consulting and

development organization based in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India.

SCG was founded in April 2009 by Nikhil Jaipurkar, and in the past five years

has done high impact work in the field of hydro power in India, Kenya,

Tanzania & Nigeria.

Our Mission: Hydro power development in a professional manner,

with focus on financial bottom-line, eco-sustainability

and social development

SCG has a dedicated technical team and is currently working on a number of

hydro projects in India, as well as in Kenya, Tanzania & Nigeria in Africa.

Highlights

- Raised USD 1.5 Million of development loans from NORFUND for three

mini hydro projects in Kenya on limited recourse basis

- Sell side transaction advisor for 3 hydro projects in Himachal Pradesh,

India; Projects sold to Investors for USD 1.0 Million in 2011

- More than 100 years of cumulative hydro power experience within the team

- Conducted feasibility studies for more than 100 projects in India and

abroad; cumulative capacity assessed is more than 1000 MW

Core Team

Nikhil Jaipurkar, Partner

Nikhil has 12 years of consulting and project development experience in the

infrastructure sector. Nikhil founded SCG in 2009 to provide consulting services

to hydro power projects. Prior to SCG, Nikhil has worked on project finance

deals for large power projects in India and abroad, including projects in Middle

East, Africa, Asia, Europe and USA. His key areas of expertise include hydro

power development, project finance & financial modeling. Nikhil is a Chemical

Engineer from UICT, Mumbai and holds a PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad.

Nav Bhardwaj, Partner

Nav has seven years of experience in financial analysis and project

development. He has worked with UBS before joining SCG as a Partner in

2009. His areas of expertise include financial modeling, financing for hydro

projects and project development. Nav is an Economics (hons.) graduate and

has completed a training program for hydro projects from AHEC, IIT Roorkee.

Bachelor of Engineering from Allahabad University. Professional memberships: LM –

IWRS, FIE (India), FICA. 46 years of experience in Hydro Power Projects, out of which 33

years of service in HPSEB, and 13 years of post retirement experience in private sector

consulting. Associated with SCG since August 2010.

Er. R. S. Chauhan, Retd. Executive Director (Civil Design), SJVN Limited

Er. R S Chauhan retired as Executive Director (Civil design) from SJVN Limited in 2011,

and has served as a consultant with SCG since March 2013. Er. Chauhan provides

guidance to SCG team on planning and design of hydro power structures such as intakes,

weirs, tunnels, powerhouse, forebay etc.

SCG works with contracted teams of surveyors, geologists, as required for a project. SCG

also has business relationships with civil contractors, E&M equipment suppliers for

execution of hydro projects.
