ORDER OF WORSHIP

Welcome & Announcements Birthdays & Anniversaries Opening Prayer ^Opening Hymn “When Morning Gilds the Sky” No. 185 ^Call to Worship Leader: Lent is not a time for being miserable, but for taking stock and resetting our aims for following Christ.

People: Loving God, in you we trust, let us never fool ourselves.

Leader: Lent is an opportunity for healthy repentance- repentance for our indifference in face of the permeating evil of the world, repentance for personal sins which we have glossed over as “mere foibles.”

People: According to your loving kindness, remember me, God of goodness and saving grace.

Leader: Lent is a time for joy; the exhilaration that comes from defying temptations, from turning our face to the light that shines on the narrow path of Christ Jesus, from walking into adverse winds and enjoying small victories day by day.

People: Make me know your ways, O God, teach me your paths, for you are the God of my salvation and my true happiness. Amen. ^Affirmation of Faith No. 88

^Praise Song “Open Doors” Children’s Lenten Message with the Pastor Children’s Worship Offering ^Doxology No. 95 Prayers of the People (In Unison)

ALL: O Lord, we pray for your church. That we, who are blessed by you, may be a blessing to others. That we, who are loved by you, may love as you love. That we, who are empowered by you, may encourage others. That we, who are called by you, may bring others to you. That we, who are created by you, may build a church that will stand as a symbol of your presence in our midst. O Lord, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, hear our prayer. Amen.

Remember those in our midst who grieve the loss of loved ones.

Remember those in need of ongoing and sustaining prayers.

Remember our troops.

PASTOR’S MEMORY VERSE

“All this is proceeding along lines planned all along by God and then executed in Christ Jesus. When we trust in him, we’re free to say whatever needs to be said, bold to go wherever we need to go. So don’t let my present trouble on your behalf get you down. Be proud!”

Open hearts, open minds, opens doors We welcome all who seek to love the Lord. Bring your joys, bring your burdens all you rich and poor. Open hearts open minds, open hearts open doors. We gather here to praise and worship. In our diversity we find a common ground. We speak the language of one God, one love. Seek the Lord, sing God’s praise with joyful sound. Open hearts, open minds, opens doors. We welcome all who seek to love the Lord. Bring your joys, bring your burdens all you rich and poor. Open hearts open minds, open hearts open doors.

Stewardship Reflections

“Examples are few of men ruined by giving.”

Christian Bovée, mid-19th century American author

,536,000 seconds. And all is a gift from

ng to deserve it, earn it, or purchased it. Like the air we breathe, time

comes to us as a part of life.

The gift of time is not ours alone. It is given equally to each person. Rich and poor, educated and ignorant, strong and weak—every man, woman and child has the same twenty-four hours every day.

Another important thing about time is that you cannot stop it.
