Animism is the belief that many things in nature have their own spirit.

It is one of the earliest forms of religion

Animism is considered a tribal religion, and each group of families, known as a CLAN, identified with a particular animal. The family would never harm or eat that particular animal

In Sub-Saharan Africa, many tribes believed that animals, plants, and places had their own spirits.

In many Native American cultures, their Medicine Men would make contact with the spirit world to help facilitate healing.

In ancient Japan, people believed that spirits, also called KAMI, existed in nature. This nature belief led to another religion called SHINTOISM.
