Animation through the ages By Nicole Frize Main Tasks What is computer animation hand drawn (cel) ; flick books; animated cartoon; animation process, graphic information file format (gif); dynamic hypertext mark-up language (dHTML); extensible hypertext mark-up language (XHTML); Java applets optical illusion of motion (persistence of vision); Claymation; stop motion; computer generation (frame rate, frames, key frames, onion skinning, tweening) What is computer Animation They use images and put them together by using graphics that are on the computer. When you create the animation when you use a software on the computer to make on of the software's like flash. This is to make the image look more interesting so that people will enjoy it. Hand Drawn This is when they are designing the character in the game that they are designing it. When they are hand drawing the work that they are doing it makes it easier to design before putting it on the computer were they finish the design. Flick books They use this to decide what way to make the image move in the animation that they are making. On each page they draw the different stages of the bird leaving the cage. Animated cartoon This is where they are using flash and storyboard to see want ideas will work for the animation cartoon. Animated cartoon is drawn and now a days they do it on computers like flash. Animation process This is when they think about want animation that they are going to create. They do this by using storyboard to design the animation They use Flash to create the animation that they want. Then they test it and modify it then they make it in to make a movie. Graphic information file format GIF stands for Graphics interchange format it is also bitmap image format. GIF would be used for 8 bits per pixel and using a palette of 256 distinct colours. Dynamic hypertext mark- up language DHTML is a website language. It is used to create web pages and put Dynamic features on to the webpage Example change of date. Extensible hypertext mark- up language XHTML is a markup languages that mirror used Hypertext Markup Language. This allows you create a webpage. Optical Illusion of Motion Is seeing a circle moving but not doing anything. This is when there is noting move on but you are thinking that it is moving. Claymation Is when you are using many forms of animation. You would use this to create the characters in the animation that you are creating. They would use Flash to create the animation, they do this by using the image and make it move fast. Example is Sean the sheep is a form of Claymation Stop Motion So that it looks like the image is moving itself. It can be used for clay motion but there is a lot of time put in to it. Example pingu Computer Generation Frame rate in flash the frame rate is 24 frames. It you move it fast then the rate becomes longer. This Frames are the same as pages on flick book. Key fame to help move the image move around the screen this is to help the image look more realistic. Example - I used key fames to make a movie on Flash Onion skinning to take you back to the previous fame and you can do motion on that frame. Tweening allows you to change the shapes as they are moving around the screen. Key Frame
