Brenham Pet Adoption Center
March 2021 Newsletter
Let it Sneaux! During the month of February the Brenham Pet Adop-tion Center brought a little bit of New Orleans closer to home with our Krewe of Barkus event! We would like to thank everyone who entered our costume contest, we had a lot of fun seeing everyone’s creativity with their costumes as they got in the Mardi Gras spirit! We plan to make this a bigger and better event next year!
Obviously the other main event in February was the snowstorm, or sneaux storm as they might say in the Big Easy! Shown are adopted dog, Piper, and his friend,
Garrett, en-joying a snow day. Piper wasn’t sure about the snow the first time around, however he had fun dur-ing the last round of snow!
That’s a Wrap!
By Suzanne Callaway
Brenham Animal Services was gifted with a retired K-
9 police vehicle recently with the intent of using it for
community outreach…but it LOOKED like a police rig,
so shelter manager, Allison Harper, knew it needed a
friendly facelift. Our new bright blue and green wrap
now graces a once all-black Chevy Tahoe! Greeting
those who see it on the streets of Brenham are imag-
es of friendly dogs and cats with our contact infor-
mation and services clearly visible on its panels. Our
hope is that the community responds favorably and
becomes educated with what animal services actual-
ly does versus their preconceived notions about our
role in the community, which is assisting them with
the needs of their owned animals, limiting the num-
ber of stray animals, and of course providing adopta-
ble animals. The new wrap allows us to be greeted
with more smiles than grimaces! Inside the Commu-
nity Outreach Tahoe are coloring books, crayons,
stickers and other items for kids, so that we can start
the new generation thinking of animal services in a
positive way. The vehicle has already been put to
work assisting residents with the altering of several
community cats and making appearances at adop-
tion events and downtown activities. We look for-
ward to introducing it officially at an adoption event
on March 27th at Puppy Dawg and Cat Tails!

Right: If you think this looks like a surveil-
lance camera photo, you are not wrong!
We would like to thank the volunteers and
staff who came in during February’s snow
event to respond to citizen concerns and
keep the animals fed. When the pipes
froze, volunteers shoveled snow so it could
be brought inside, melted, and used to
clean kennels. We also cannot forget to
mention volunteers who took laundry
home to wash. (We promise to take better
photos next time!)
