Through here, you'll find sections covering many major aspects of the game, anddescriptions of (almost) everything.

    Quick Statistic-----------------

This, by far, is the shortest of all the main sections.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-3.1 - Creating your character = (3.CHR) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

You're about to start in your first town in City Folk, or starting a new one.Either way, once you start the game, you will see an animal called Rover. Hewill guide you on your way to your town and will set up your town every timeyou visit. Proceeding from Animal Crossing: Wild World, you can choose toeither move in from your DS or create a new character. Select "Start fresh!"from the menu.

You'll be on the 'school bus' being driven by a character called Kapp'n.Roverwill be there beside you, and will ask a number of questions. The first threeare straight forward. He will ask if the time is right. The time he gives isthe Wii Clock time. If you wish to change it, I recommend changing the WiiTime, as the in-game clock can be a bit aphazard.

Then he'll ask for your name, thenRover will say he likes it. Now if you answer to this "Cool, eh?" you'll be aboy, if you pick "Cute, hm?" you'll be a girl. You confirm in in the nextpassage, with the option to change it.

Then, he'll ask for the town you're moving to. Don't worry, you get to makeitup, but it'll be the name of the town you stay in. He'll give you a map ofthe

    town, and then proceed.

The next questions he asks will determine your appearence.

I am still currently messing about with the appearence questions, so they'llbehere soon.

You will now be dropped in your new town. You now should go about finding theTown Hall using the map and talk to the Pelly (the pelican) who's inside. Younow go and decide which of the four houses availible in the town you want.

Now, you can't change this, so pick wisely. If you want my opinion, I wouldgofor the closest house to Tom Nook's shop. That's the most important buildinginall of your town (for you, that is, as that's where you sell things to gain

bells. You'll especially want a close house for storing turnips once you getinto the stalk market).

Tom Nook will be at the house you leave and ask whether you want it. You canchose to keep looking or to buy it. Since you don't have a single bell onyou, you can't pay it off, and so have to take a mortgage.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-3.3 - Working for Tom Nook = (3.WRK) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

To kickstart your fiscal record, Nook offers (demands, really) that you do apart-time job at his store. Go into his shop and speak to him to begin. He'lltell you to meet Mayor Tortimer and all the residents of the town. Tortimeris just outside the Town Hall, and the neighbours will be about town or intheir houses.

When you've finished, Nook will give you a work uniform and tell you to get

dressed. You do this simply by opening the inventory screen (pressing theminus button on the Wii Remote) and dragging the symbol onto your character.

Now for your first real job. You have to plant saplings and flowers aroundthestore. You can actually plant them wherever you want, but Nook'll be too lazyto look. (I hope no-one noticed that rhyme...) You go into your inventory, select them, and press 'plant' on each.

He'll now tell you to go and deliver some furniture to a neighbour. Find themusing the map or your own detective skills, and in return, they'll give you apiece of furniture you can put in your house or sell to Nook (after you'vedone all the jobs.) They'll also ask for your birthday, which you won't beableto change later.

Your next job is to write a letter to one of Nook's customers. He'll give yousomething to write on, so just select it and write. Make sure you select theright person to send it to. You can write whatever you want, but it could getshown to other people, so please don't write anything you don't want otherpeople seeing... To post it, go to the Town Hall, and go to the right windowinfront of the carpet with a letter symbol on it. The Pelican on duty willrushover to it. Talk to her, and mail the letter.

Another delivery, this time a wallpaper or carpet. Deliver it, and getanother

reward. Yet another delivery, this time taking a watering can or other tooltoa neighbour, the one you sent to letter to. Deliver as normal, and go back toNook.

Final Job at last, and it's to write something on the Town notice board. It'slocated next to the Town Hall. You can write anything, but anyone visitingyourtown can see it as well, untill enough messages are written for it to beforgotten.

Nook will now take (a rather small) 1,400 bells off your mortgage on yourhouse, leaving you with 18,400 bells to pay off.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-3.3 - Basics = (3.BSC) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Some of you may be wondering, what do I actually have to do in this game? Theanswer is simple: whatever you want. There's no aim in the game. No end toit.If you really want something to complete you can go through the tedious taskcompleting the museum, collecting every item, getting the most HRA pointspossible, getting the most money possible, or many other things.

But getting started requires you to know where everything is. You'llget used to it sooner or later. An essential is tools. The normal toolsare listed below:

Shovel - Used for burying things and digging buried things up.Fishing Rod - Used for catching fish.Net - Used for catching bugs.Watering can - Used to improve your town's environment.Axe - Used for chopping down trees.Slingshot - Used for shooting things from the sky down (not at people).Timer - Used for timing things (not really essential).

The most useful ones are the shovel and the fishing rod, as they can be usedto get the most money. (See the money making section.)

The controls for the game are listed below.

(ha), it's yours and it's really 'a job' to pay it off. Then, Tom Nook mightbe nice enough to expand your house and make it bigger, then you can storemore items in it, and decorate it even more (then pay a bigger bill off).

Also, on the subject of decorating, your house will regulary be viewed by theHappy Room Association (HRA), and your house might be showcased, *drumroll*in the Big City!

The other option is to report bad behaviour from neighbours. This option letsyou change something that other people may see, that you may not want themto. You can delete all letters that they've sent to you, change the clothes theywear back to the default, or change their catchphrase back to the default.

They are spread around on random trees throughout your town.

Another feature is the two level landscape. The higher level is north, andlower level is south. There are two slopes that you can use to get from onelevel to another.

The river, which starts somewhere at the top of the map, flows down souththrough your town, untill it meets the sea. In this river and the sea, fishlive, so you can catch a bite, and earn a few (s)quid.

There are also a number of rocks around town, which, when wacked with ashovel, can produce a bug that's been hiding, nothing at all, or (for one rock perday)bells. That's right, it's the Magic Rock. (Explained in the "Making Money"Section).

    8.5.4 - Perfect Town (8.5.PER)-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Now, you must be really sirious and determined to do this. Ready? Here we go:

You town is divided into 25 acres (5x5). They are positioned like this:

    _ _ _ _ _|_|_|_|_|_||_|_|_|_|_||_|_|_|_|_||_|_|_|_|_||_|_|_|_|_|

Now, in the environment report you can get from the Civic Center in the TownHall, the Pelican on Duty will tell you how good or bad the environment is.

For a perfect rating, 8 acres must follow these rules (be a 'perfect' acre):

    ___________________| TREES | FLOWERS ||---------|---------|| 0 | 27 || 1 | 25 || 2 | 23 || 3 | 21 || 4 | 19 || 5 | 17 || 6 | 15 || 7 | 13 || 8 | 11 || 9 | 9 || 10 | 7 || 11 | 5 || 12 | 3 || 13 | 3 || 14 | 3 || 15 | 3 || 16 | 5 || 17 | 7 || 18 | 9 || 19 | 11 |-------------------

For every tree after 15, you must have 2 more flowers.

Also, the other acres (17) must follow these rules:

For every tree after 18, you must have 2 more flowers.

Finally, you must make sure that there are no more than 2 weeds per acre,no items/rubbish on the ground (excluding buried fossils and shells), andwater your flowers so they don't die.

If you keep your town rating 'perfect' for 15 days, you'll recieve the goldenwatering can of Pelly or Phyllis.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-9.1 - Fish, Bugs and Fossils = (9.FBF) =

  • 8/3/2019 Animal Crossing City Folk FAQ-Walkthough

    29/104

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Fish, bugs and fossils are explained above, but the inevitable and agedquestion appears: Sell or donate?

If you cannot stand Blathers' look of dispair, by all means donate. But, ifyou're very strapped for cash, you could use fishing and digging to kickstartyour personal economy. When you have enough you can start investing in thestalk market, and let Blathers rest in peace.

But it's up to you. You may do whatever you want in the game withouthinderence. That's what Animal Crossing is all about.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-9.2 - Fruit = (9.FRT) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Selling fruits is the best may to earn money without risk. But wait aminute...

you tell me that the fruit in your town sells for a measily 100 bells apiece?Well, what about foriegn fruits? They sell for 500 each, making 1,500 pertree!

You can take fruits from friend's towns that are different from your own, plant them, let them grow, and plant the fruits that grow from that. Keepdoingthis, and soon you'll have a huge town full of foreign fruit. Trees with3x500bells hanging off them.

You can even aquire forign fruit from neighbours. Simply send a message tothemwith a native fruit (fruit that's already in your town) and they may send youaforign fruit. You can even find coconuts on the beach. (Coconuts must beplanted 1 square away from the sand; they won't grow anywhere else.)

Use an axe to cut down unwanted trees and use a shovel to dig up the stump.

Once you have a town full of foreign fruit, it's time to mass harvest them. It'll take a bit of time, but in one day you could earn more than 100,000bells. Three days later, all the fruit will grow back, and it's harvest timeagain!

Just to confirm, these are the fruits you can get:

ApplesOrangesPearsCherriesPeachesCoconuts (Coconuts never are in your town to start.)

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

  • 8/3/2019 Animal Crossing City Folk FAQ-Walkthough

    30/104

    9.3 - Money Trees = (9.MNT) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

First, you have to have the golden shovel. The easiest golden tool to get, inmy opinion. Just get two shovels and bury one using the other. Dig it up atleast MORE than 24 hours later and hey presto! A Golden shovel. (This isn'ta money making tip, they sell for the same as normal shovels.)

Anyway, using this golden shovel, you can bury bells in the ground and theywill grow like fruit producing ONE set of the same amount that you put in.Three times, to be exact. But there is the risk.

You see, the amount you put in is the chance it will grow. If you put1k (1,000) bells in, there's 1% chance that it will grow. 30k (30,000) bells, and theres a 30% chance. 100k (100,000) bells, and there's 100% chance.

But before you start buring 100 kilobell bags like mad, hear this: The most amoney tree will hold is 90k bells. So if you buy anything above 30k, theamount a money tree will hold will be the same as if you planted 30k.

To make sure you get as many bells as possible out (7 times), there is a wellknown stategy you can use.

You have to dig holes shown in the diagram below to stop you backing awayfromthe rock when you hit it.

If you win a game, you get a candy. If you lose, however, you will have to pay 500 bells (or a candy you have with you). Howunfortunate.

I have yet to find a working solution as 'what to answer', but I have foundyou have a great chance of winning on 'Soccer' if choose

Phychic---------You have to guess what the neighbour's thinking twice in a row. Simple. Butit is hard... and it lets you pick whatever colour candy you want!

Soccer--------You have to battle against the villager in penalties. Unfortunately, all thathappens in that the neighbour breaking into a mad 'commentary' rant and you

have to pick left or right to save a goal, then left or right to shoot.

If you each score a goal or neither of you score a goal, you must try again. If someone scores AND saves a goal, they win.

Oh, yes, sometimes you're called "Pookie" in this game.

    Which hand?-------------

Simple game for the simple minded you just have to guess which hand inholdingthe candy, TWO times in a row.

    Vocal Rock Paper Sissors--------------------------

He will either be outside next some buildings (usually in dark spots),or inside neighbours houses when they arn't there. (Yes, you will be able togo in them!)

You can find him as many times as you can in the time, but you need to trickhim into thinking you're someone else. You can do this by wearing a differenthat, accessory, umbrellas or flowers. You don't need to combine them, and it

doesn't work anyway. you can order ones you've bought before from Nook, oreven go to the city and have your hair done!

Also, to save use of items, you can use your own designs as hats.

I may be very hard to collect alot in the time, andthere doesn't even appear to be very many there anyway. You could restart thesay by *shock* TTing, but if you're against it or don't know what it is,don'tdo it or worry about it.
