ACSian Outcomes
• This biennial fundraising walk has been supporting 16
Methodist schools in Singapore for 16 years, and is
organized by the Methodist Schools’ Foundation.
• 100 percent of proceeds raised by students, will be used by
schools to support different activities of each school.
• ACS(J) : Funds will be channeled towards the upgrading of
school facilities and implementation of school-wide activities
• Fund-raising period : 13th Jan to 24th Feb 2017

Selection Criteria for
Thoburn Programme from P4
– Students who have been identified by MOE’s GE Branch for the GE Programme but chose to stay in ACS Junior will be automatically offered the programme every year
– For English and Maths Thoburn Programme, students are identified through GEP screening tests if they exhibit high ability in English or Maths or English and Maths. They will be offered the corresponding subject/(s).
– For Science and Mother Tongue Thoburn Programme, students are identified based on overall school results in respective subjects at the end of each year.

Parental Option
• At P4, parents can exercise their option for the
course of study.
• However, parents should be realistic about their
child’s ability (in the choice of HMT).
• Neither should parents go for soft option –
impacts the Secondary Course later on.

Movement after P5
• At the end of P5, promotion criteria must be
satisfied. No more parental option will be allowed.
The school has the autonomy to decide on the
level of the subjects to be taken by pupils in P6.
• Pupil who takes 4 standard subjects and has
difficulty coping, may switch to take 1 or more
Foundation subjects at P6.
