Teacher RolesStudents Roles

Step 1:Induction set

( 10 minutes)1. Introduce the concept angle of elevation and depression by using daily situation1. Tell the student the application of this topic in our life to attract them learn this topic.

2. Teacher draws the angle of elevation and depression

1. Students pay their attention to the teachers explanation

Teaching aids: whiteboard, Value: Pay AttentionThinking Skill: Reflection CCTS

Step 2 :

Recall the previous knowledge(20 minutes)

1. Recall the student about previous knowledge that related to this topic which are Pytagoras Theorem and trigonometry formula

1. Teacher recall back the Pytagoras Theorem and trigonometry ratio2. Teacher ask student to group in pair

3. Teachers gives some questions for the topic of Pytagoras Theorem and Trigonometrys ratios4. Teacher wants the students to answer the question in 10 minutes5. Teacher ask 2 students to the front to write the working to solve the question1. Students pay their attention to the teachers explaination.2. Students group in pair like what teacher ask to do.3. Students answer the question given in 10 minutes4. 2 students come out to the front to write the working and the rest will check the answer

Teaching aids: Computer, PowerPoint, A4 paperValue: Pay attention, cooperation, confident

Thinking Skill : Critical thinking,CCTS, Reflection

Teaching Development(45 minutes)

1. Identify:a) The horizontal line

b) The angle of elevation

c) The angle of depression;

for a particular solution

2. Represent a particular situation involving:

a) The angle of elevation

b) The angle of depression; using diagram

3. Solve problems involving the angle of elevation ad angle of depression

1. Explain the meaning of angle of elevation and angle of depression.2. Teacher shows some picture on the slide and ask students to identify whether it is angle of depression or angle of elevation

3. Teacher shows the examples of questions of angle of depression and elevation on the slide, discuss with student how to get the answer4. Ask the students be in group of out to 4 people and each group get one handout5. Teacher asks students to go to the sports field, then they need to measure the height of one person in the group and persons shadow

6. Other than persons shadow, teacher ask student to measure the shadow of the object that they choose at the sport field like goalpost, goal, flag pole and etc

7. Using the information that they get, they need to determine the angle of elevation

8. After 20 minutes, each group need to present their information1. Students pay attention to the teachers explaination2. Students jot down the note3. Students give some opinion and discuss with teachers how to get the answer

4. Students ask question if they do not clear about the topic

5. Students make a group of out to 4 people in each group and go to the field

6. They fill the information in the handout

7. Student calculate the angle of elevation by using what they had learn

8. Each groups present their informationTeaching aids: PowerPoint, whiteboard, marker, A4 paper, tape measurersValue: Pay attention, cooperation, confident

Thinking Skill : Critical thinking,CCTS, Reflection

Closure

( 5 minutes)1. Summarize the lesson1. Teacher ask students to revise the topic that they had learned on2. Teacher gives some homework to the students and ask them to submit on the next class.1. Students revise by tell the meaning of angle of depression and elevation2. Students take the homework and will submit it as required.

Teaching aids: A4 paper

Value: Pay Attention
