My background is in Fine Arts and I have a Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design. I applied for this scholarship last year and was honored to be chosen for the top four. I’ve been working hard to improve my skillset so I could apply again this year because I feel Cinema Makeup School is the perfect place for me. I would love the opportunity to attend CMS because I truly admire the work I’ve seen come from the school. I think persistence is key in the makeup industry and I wanted to prove that I am dedicated and passionate about makeup. In the past year I have grown as an artist by taking sculpting classes, sketching characters, practicing visualization, learning about color theory, watching A LOT of Faceoff and reading makeup books. I’ve also been practicing special effects like wounds, burns and scars. I do have a very successful makeup centered Youtube channel that I work very hard on. I produce high quality makeup tutorials and am well known for my creative Halloween makeups. Last October my videos garnered national attention when Yahoo featured my work on their home page. I was quite honored and it inspired me to pursue my dreams even further. Why I would like to receive the Ve Neill Scholarship Honestly I would like to receive the scholarship because I want to be a better makeup artist. I want to be more rounded and at this point in my career I feel like I’ve hit a plateau. My weakness is prosthetics and there aren’t schools near me to learn. I would move if it were an option financially but I really can’t afford it with my student loans. I want so badly to be able to realize my concepts with makeup and I would love to have the guidance and wisdom of others. I can’t begin to say how much this scholarship would be a blessing. I am a huge fan of Ve Neill. I think she has opened the doors for women in the makeup industry and I would love to be able to do the same someday. I am a hard worker and I would not take this opportunity for granted. I hope you see some potential in my work. ank you for your time.
