TIME: 30 minutes

MATERIALS NEEDED: Book. The Very Angry Day That Amy Didnt Have by Lawrence Shapiro. Childswork/Childsplay, P.O. Box 61587, King of Prussia, PA. 19406, USA.

PROCEDURE: Discuss with students whether they get angry or not. What makes them angry? How do they feel when the get angry? What is their behavior like when they get angry? When others get angry, what behaviors do they observe? Discuss the difference in having a positive and negative attitude about events and life and how we all choose how we react to situations.

Read the story about Amy and Margaret. Discuss the story. Let the students act out situations using good decision making skills. Let the students work in small cooperative groups to come up with solutions.

1. Your friends wont let you play in the wall ball game they just started.

2. The lunch line ran out of the corn dogs on the menu and is serving fish sticks today.

3. Your friend didnt invite you to his birthday party.

4. Your best friend picked a new best friend.

5. The pencil your friend borrowed from you is now missing and you need to take a spelling test.
