3. Angamali
4. Angamali was founded in 2005 and is eight acres in size. The purpose of the home apparentlyis to provide the Bangalore Province with their own teacher training centre that would produce certified teachers as required by the Indian government. The school is successfully turning out teachers qualified to teach K1 through 7thgrade. In 2010 the teachers training centre will certify teachers for teaching through the 10th grade level.
There are 21 first year students in the training centre and 15 second year students in the centre. There is construction underway to add an additional floor to the teaching centre that will free up room for an additional 100 teacher training students on the first 2 floors of thebuilding. They expect that the additional students will come with the higher certification in place because there is government financial support for students who attend such schools.
5. Angamalistarted a grade school to give the teachers in training children to teach. Currently the school has 167 school children in K1 through grade 2. They will continue to add an additional class as each new school year begins. The sisters plan on building a new school K thru 12 and 1 year BA. They have the drawings but await the funds.
There are currently23 borders who will move to the top floor, as willthe sisters, when the floor is completed. The expectation is that an additional 50 borders will immediately be added to reside on the top floor. The sisters have 3 cows who provide enough milk to sell after their needs are met. Water is plentiful and 4 acres are under cultivation. There is a great need for water purification so the children can drink healthily.
