3)VARIOUS BUTTONS ON ANDROID PHONES

Every Android phone has a standard set of buttons at the bottom. They may be physical -- with parts that move -- or they may be capacitive, reacting to your touch. The order may change, but the functions are the same. You'll find:

Home: Returns to the main HOME SCREEN. Hold down to see your most recently used apps. (Tip: Try tapping it again once you're at the main home screen and see what happens.)

Back: Takes you back a level in an app, or back a page in a browser, etc. (Tip: Hold down while browsing to quickly access bookmarks, history and most-visited sites. 

Menu: Tap this for additional options in an application, or from the home screens. (Tip: Hold down to make the keyboard appear.)

Search: Brings up the search function. Could be search within an app, Google search, or universal search of contacts, bookmarks, apps, etc. that are in the phone. (Tip: Hold down to launch voice search.)

3.(a)WHAT ARE APPS?

An Android app is a software application running on the Android platform. Because the Android platform is built for mobile devices, a typical Android app is designed for a smartphone or a tablet PC running on the Android OS.

4)WHAT IS WIFI?

Wi-Fi is increasingly becoming the

preferred mode of internet connection all over the world. To access this type of connection, one must have a wireless adapter on their computer. Wi-Fi provides wireless connectivity by emitting frequencies between 2.4GHz to 5GHz based on the amount of data on the network. Areas which are enabled with Wi-Fi connectivity are known as Hot Spots. One can use advanced softwares like Wirelessmon to detect and request connection to Hotspots. To start a Wireless connection, it is important that the wireless router is plugged into the internet connection and that all the required settings are properly installed. 

4.(a)HOW TO CONNECT WIFI ON ANDROID PHONES?

On your Android device, select the Settings icon.

 

Under Settings, choose Wireless & networks.

Next, select Wi-Fi settings.

If Wi-Fi is not already turned on, tap the check mark by Wi-Fi to turn it on. When Wi-Fi is enabled, available SSID’s will appear below. Encrypted networks will by indicated with a padlock icon. Select the network to which you’d like to connect.

If password protected, type in your password and select Connect.

You should now see that you are connected to the network.

To connect to a Wi-Fi network with a hidden SSID, select Add Wi-Fi network from the settings.

Then manually type in your SSID and password, and select your network security type. Select Save when finished.

 

Now you can browse the web through your Wi-Fi router or connect to other network devices.

5)WHAT IS PLAY STORE?

Google Play, formerly the Android Market, is a digital distribution platform for applications for the Android operating system and an online electronics and digital media store, operated byGoogle. The service allows users to browse and download applications developed with the Android SDK and published through Google, as well as music, magazines, books, movies, and television programs

5.(a)HOW TO DOWNLOAD FROM PLAY STORE?

To download anything from play store,one has to login with a google Id without which nothing is possible.The playstore is the most important application on the android platform.

To download application one can use these simple steps:-

1)click on menu button(multiple blocks)

2)search for Play Store(looks like a bag with an right arrow)

3)click on the store and click on maginfying glass to search any apllication or use the four tabs viz.,apps,games,movies,books.

4)if you are downloading say subway surfer the search for subway surfer,click on subway surfer

5)there you will see an install tab,click on the install tab and accept the terms nd conditions to start the installation

6)the app will start downloading with a blue line just below the install tab and use wifi or 3g to get it faster

7)exit the play store with the help of the back button(u button),find the apllication and start using it by clicking on it.

6)How to use contacts?

Using contacts on Android is very simple.Conatcts is use for saving numbers and using them when needed to call

Adding a contact is very easy

a)click on call button(green colour)

b)click on contacts

c)click on + sign to add contacts

d)add the persons number,email,number and choose where u want to save it whether google id,device or sim

e)after adding is done,click on save button so that the contacts are saved

f)to search a contact click on search bar in contacts and write the first two words to the persons name.

7)HOW TO USE CALENDER ON ANDROID?Step-by-step: use the calendar and sync with your Google Calendar

1. YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT

When you switch your Tablet on you'll be asked to enter your Google account settings. If you don't do it then, choose 'Settings' then 'Accounts and Sync', then 'Add Account'

2. CONFIGURE ACCOUNT

Choose 'Google' then 'Next' and then 'Sign In'. Next type your username and password and then choose 'Sign in'. Next check 'Back up data with my Google Account' and choose 'Next' then 'Finish setup'.

3. GOOGLE CALENDAR ONLINE

Log in to your Google calendar from your computer and enter appointments and events. These are

automatically saved and provided your tablet is online via your SIM or Wi-Fi they are automatically

transferred.

4. SET SYNC PROPERTIES

On your Android tablet choose 'Settings' then 'Accounts and sync'. Tap the icon for your Google account. Ensure there is a tick next to 'Sync Calendar'. Put a check against any other boxes you want to.

5. TABLET CALENDAR

Open the calendar on your tablet. On the Samsung Galaxy Tab use tabs at the top of the screen to see Day, Week, Month and List views and to jump straight to today.

6. ADD AN EVENT

Tap the '+' symbol. Give your event a title and then select its date and time by tapping the 'From' and 'To' boxes. Tap the '+' and '-' symbols to change settings, then tap 'Set'.

7. ADD TO GOOGLE CALENDAR

If you want the event to appear on your Google calendar as well as locally tap 'Calendar' and choose your Google account. Alternatively leave the setting at 'My Calendar'

8. MORE DETAILS

Add locations, settings, and alarms. If you want an event to recur tap 'Repeat' and choose the interval you want. When all settings are made tap 'Done'.Tips and tricksHave a look at the widgets on your tablet. You are likely to find one that will put a large calendar display on to a home page. That's really handy if you are a keen user of your diary to manage your time.Tap the event in the Day or List view and choose 'Send via' and then 'Messaging'. The email tool will open and you can send an Outlook calendar invitation.

8)HOW TO USE NOTES ON ANDROID PHONES?

Notes is very simple tool to write down all important things which we may tend to forget.

These steps will guide you to use notes effectively:-

1)if u are using samsung,click on S Memo

2)you have two tabs on top right,where one u write by urself by drawing alphabets and second is the text key board you get and click on the alphabet and start writing

3)click on tabs with + sign and start writing the notes

4)click on save once completed

One can even add voice recording&pictures to the existing notes.

2)HOW TO SURF ONLINE SHOPPING?

The way you surf the net on the pc or mac same way you open the google chrome and write down the web address and start using the online websites

3)HOW O SAVE IMAGES?

We know how much you love and enjoy browsing onAndroid Smartphone. Here is a simple tips to save image on your phone while you are browsing Internet. This is really a cool feature to be able to download images from your favourite websites. If you like a pictures simply long press (tap and hold) on it,  a menu will pop ups where you can see the option to save or even share if you want. If the image is linked to other page or website you probably get option to visit them also.

Once you have done saving images you can find them in your SD card or Gallery app in All Downloads Album. You can use them as Wallpaper also. So this is an easy way to have some nice wallpaper for your Android smartphones

4)HOW TO SETUP MAILS ON ANDROID?

1. Click on the "Mail" icon on the front screen of your phone. If the "Mail" icon is not available on the Home Screen you can find it on the Applications screen as well. 

2. On the Mail screen, you will see configure email

1.Type in your email id and password.

2.Once you have put in your information, click "Next".

Click Next.  On the final screen you can name the account what you want.  You may choose "work email" or just use the actual email address. This is just a method so you can identify the account for yourself.  You will also get an option to choose if this is your default email account.  Once you are done, click Finish setup.

Congratulations!  Your email is now set up on your Android device.

4.(a)HOW TO SEND AND RECEIVE MAILS ON ANDROID?

1. Start an e-mail program and access the inbox.You can use either Gmail, Email, or the Messaging app.

2. Press the Menu soft button and choose Compose from the menu that appears.In the Messaging app, also have to choose an account. You use this account to send the message. A new message screen appears.

3. If necessary, touch the To field to select it, and then type the first few letters of a contact name and choose a matching contact from the list that appears.You can also send to any valid e-mail address not found in your Contacts list by typing the complete address. The onscreen keyboard changes to add the @ (at sign) and .com keys, which makes typing e-mail addresses easier.

4. Touch the Subject field and use the onscreen keyboard to type a subject.Alternatively, you can dictate the subject using voice input.

5. (Optional) Summon and fill out the CC field: In Gmail, press the Menu soft button and choose the

command Add Cc/Bcc from the menu that appears. In the Email program, press the Menu soft button

and choose Add CC.6. Touch the Compose Mail field and use your best

thumb-typing skills to compose your letter.

Alternatively, you can dictate the message.

7. Touch the Send button to whisk your missive to the Internet for immediate delivery.

Instead, you can touch either the Discard or Cancel button to trash the message. If prompted, touch OK or Yes to confirm its deletion. In Gmail, when you touch the Save As Draft button, the message is stored in the Drafts folder. You can open this folder to re-edit the message. Touch Send to send it. And if you want to see the received mails then,click on inbox in the menu option and click on the mail to view it.

5)HOW TO USE VIDEO-CAMERA/CAMERA ON ANDROID?

Session 3:-1)TRANSFERING MUSIC AND PICS

1. Use a data cable to connect your phone to your computer's USB port. If you didn't get a data cable with your phone, check out the manufacturer's website or somewhere like eBay to buy one.

2. Make sure your memory card is in your phone.

3. Touch the USB Connected notification on your phone's screen.

4. Select Mount.

5. Find the removable storage drive on your computer. On a Mac, the drive will appear on your desktop; on a PC, check My Computer.

6. Drag and drop the files you want from your phone to your computer.

7. When you're finished, go to Notifications and select Turn Off USB Storage.

8. Disconnect the data cable from your phone and your computer.

2)HOW TO USE GOOGLE MAPS?

1. Open the Maps application and search for an address.

2. Once you see the business or specific address you want to navigate to, tap on it.

3. On the next screen tap the button that looks like a right turn sign.

4. You’ll be presented with three options. Choose Driving Navigation.

5. If your phone has more than one GPS application, tap Navigation under “Complete Action using.”

Open the Settings menu and go to Accounts & sync settings on your device.

The Accounts & sync settings screen displays your current sync settings and a list of your current accounts.

Touch Add account. Touch Google to add your Google Apps account. Touch Sign in when prompted for your Google Account. Enter your full Google Apps email address as your

username, and then enter your password. Select which services you'd like to sync.
