To help underprivileged families make the steps they need in
order to increase their standard of living and become functional
members of society
Slide 3
We were asked to clean, make space, and build a wall in order
to divide a room into two separate parts. In total, we worked on
the attic and the basement of the Family Promise building in
downtown Williamsport
Slide 4
On our first visit, we focused on cleaning up the attic and the
basement. Originally it was cluttered, but we invested about 5
hours in and it looked a lot better. We managed to clean up the
attic entirely, and completely rearranged the basement which is
their supply area. Our next step was to set up the walls around the
basement to make it more secure.

Slide 7
Our purpose on our second visit was to bring up a secure wall,
and also to cover a crawlspace that they were having problems with.
After a whopping 8 hours, we accomplished what we needed to.

Slide 10
To actually make the wall, we set up a wooden foundation by
placing a top and bottom beam, and putting columns in between. Once
the foundation was made, we had to drywall it, and finally tape and
glue all of the creases together. It was the same process on a
smaller scale for the small crawlspace.
Slide 11
Unfortunately we were unable to take closing pictures of the
wall once it was completed due to technical difficulties.
(batteries died) The wall turned out great, and we were all happy
to complete the project for the group.
Slide 12
We helped out the Family Promise group a lot by putting in our
hours to help renovate the house. But apart from that, we all had a
great time hanging out and doing this project. During the time, we
met a lot of great people and made new friends. We are very
thankful for the opportunity to help, and we hope for the best for
those families in need.

Family Promise has over 125,000 volunteers, but they are always
looking for more. To help, go to www.nihn.org and

that really need it, just like we did for our project.
