"We have returned!". Wehave been back in Thailandnow for almost three monthsand we praise theLord that we areback. When we Hreturned to the HStates in March of H1987 we really HdidnT know how Hlong we would need fto remain there.

We're very glad, ^though, that we mlwere able to come Hback to Thailand in HSeptember of 1988. ™Many things andmany blessings ofthe Lord workedtogether to bring us back sosoon and we praise Him for allof them.

depend upon world economiesfor our peace of mind.

One change that we are veryexcited about is the growth ofthe work in Pua. In May of1986 David Filbeck and I madea trip over into the "Baw"

valley to the! village of BanWen. Duringthat trip thegospel seedwas sown and

one young

to followChrist. He fell

less than 25 to one. That isquite a drop. Thailand isundergoing a time of highinflation, too, so themissionaries in Thailand arebeing affected on both sides. All of this just helps us,however, to look to the Lordfor what we need and not to

"l^e would like to share someof our future plans with

you and ask you to undergirdthem with your prayers. As wereturned to Thailand we havecontinued to work with Davidand Deloris Filbeck with whomwe worked before. We will alsobe working with David A. andSharon Filbeck who came to

Thailand while we were in theStates. Sharon Filbeck isBecky's little sister so it is nowa rather mbced up family affair.

Our primary goal at this timeis to continue our work in thePua area of Nan province.

PLANSEven though we will be livingin Chiang Mai we plan tomake frequent trips to Pua.We have been over two timesin the past month and plananother extended stay tocelebrate Christmas with thevarious churches in lateDecember. Then, in lateJanuary 1989, a four day Bibleschool has been scheduled forthe Christians in the Pua area. Please keep all of these thingsin your prayers.

Another phase of our workwill be teaching at the Institutefor Biblical Studies here inChiang Mai. The Institute is

for young men and womenwho want to get a Biblicaleducation while, at the sametime, going to either vocationalor adult education, Becky isalready teaching some Englishclasses for the students and Iwill begin teaching Bibleclasses when the next termstarts in early February. Pleasekeep IBS and her students inyour prayers. Pray for us, too,as we prepare to teach thesesessions.

BITS N'PIECES

Sara and Mark are again students at Chiang Mai International School. Sara is in 6th grade andMark is in 4th. Praise the Lord that they are both doing well in their studies and are glad to beback among old Mends.

In our time away from Thailand we were able to retain most of ourThai language. We still needto improve and plan to work toward the Thai 6th grade equivalency test - the point at which one isconsidered literate in Thai. Please keep our language development in your prayers.

We want to share just a bit about finances. We came out to the field with about 75% of ourneeded support committed. This covered all ofour living expenses and just a little for work ftinds. To be at full budget we are still in need of about $500 per month in regular support for workfunds. Please pray with us that the Lord will provide these funds from His sources inHis time.

We were recently able to purchase a truck for use in the work. We're thankful for special giftswhich made the down payment possible and to my folks who helped to arrange a loan for thebalance. Please pray that the Lord will provide so that this loan can be paid off as quickly aspossible.

One of the big questions each year is "How is the rice crop?". Praise the Lord that this year therice crop was good in the mountains near Pua. Many folks not only have enough rice for theirfaniilies this year but also have a little to sell as well.

Being back in Asia means dealing daily with a different culture. Being back in the tropics meansdealing daily with a whole different set of"germs'". Please keep our health and cultural adjustmentin your daily prayers.
