Twelve Biblical Reasons for Wanting to Spend Time With Jesus In The Blessed Sacrament

1. He is really there!

“I myself Am the Living Bread come down from Heaven.” (Jn 6:35)

2. Day and night Jesus dwells in the Blessed Sacrament because of His Infinite love for you!

“Behold I will be with you always even to the end of the world,” because “I have loved you with an ever-

lasting love, and constant is My affection for you.” (Mt 28:20; Jer 31:3)

3. The specific way that Jesus asks you to love Him in return is to spend one quiet hour with Him in the Blessed Sacrament.

“Where your treasure is, there is your heart…” “Could you not watch one hour with me?” (Mt 6:21; 26:40)

4. When you look upon the Sacred Host, you look upon Jesus, the Son of God.

“Indeed, this is the will of My Father, that everyone who looks upon the Son and believes in Him shall have

eternal life. I will raise him up on the last day.” (Jn 6:40)

5. Each moment that you spend in His Eucharistic Presence will increase His Divine Life within you and deepen your personal relationship and friendship with Him.

“I have come that you may have life, and have it more abundantly.” “I am the Vine and you are the branch-

es. Whoever remains in Me and I in Him shall bear much fruit because without Me, you can do nothing.” (Jn 15:5)

6. Each hour you spend with Jesus will deepen His Divine Peace in your heart.

“Come to Me all of you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will refresh you…” “Cast all of your

anxieties upon the One who cares for you…” “My Peace is My Gift to you.” (Mt 11:28; 5:7, Jn 14:17)

7. Jesus will give you all the Graces you need to be happy!

“The Lamb on the Throne will shepherd them. He will lead them to the springs of life-giving water.” (Rev7:17)

8. Jesus is infinitely deserving of our unceasing thanksgiving and adoration for all He has done for our salvation.

“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive honor, glory and praise.” (Rev 5:12)

9. For Peace in our country!

“When My people humble themselves and seek My Presence…I will revive their land.” (2Chr 7:14)

10. Each hour you spend with Jesus on earth will leave your soul everlastingly more beautiful and glorious in heaven!

“They who humble themselves shall be exalted…” “All of us, gazing on the Lord’s glory with unveiled faces, are

being transformed from glory to glory into His very image.” (Lk 18:14; 2Cor 3:18)

11. Jesus will bless you, your family and the whole world for this hour of faith you spend with Him in the Blessed Sacrament.

“ Blessed are they who do not see and yet believe…” “Faith can move mountains…” “What is needed is trust…”

“Behold I come to make all things new.” (Jn 20:29; Mk 11:23; Mk 5:36; Rev 21:5)

12. Each moment you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament brings joy, pleasure, and de-light to His Sacred Heart!

“My joy, My pleasure, My delight is to be with you.” (Prov 8:30)

Fr. Bernardin’s Homily (June 14, 2020)

JESUS IS THE LIVING BREAD

Dear Parishioners, today we are very happy that we resume Sunday Masses after a long time of confinement without the Eucharist. To be honest with you, I was disappointed when we didn’t open on the feast of Pentecost, that is, the birthday of the Church. But today, when we celebrate the feast of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ or ,in Latin, called Corpus Christi; this is what makes the Catholic Church important and very special. Like the early Apostles we gather every first day of the week for the breaking of bread. The homily can be good but it is not what is important, the music can be good, but that is not the most important. No wonder, during confinement, people have missed the Eucharist so much more than anything else.

Saint Pope John Paul the second called the Eucharist the center and summit of our faith.

TO EAT IS TO LIVE: We all do experience hunger that leads us to eat. Almost everyday we read of starving people, see their emaciated faces on TV. What we do not see, however, are the millions starving spiritually. This starvation is more deadly because it destroys the very essence of what it means to be human. Physical life needs physical food; spiritual life needs spiritual food.

The first reading from the Book of Deuteronomy tells us how God fed the Israelites for 40 years in the desert. There is neither food nor water in the desert. God provided them with water from the rock and Manna from Heaven, food unknown by their ancestors. If you trust and obey God, He will take care of you as He did for our ancestors, the Jewish in the desert. Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God. Jesus quoted this sentence during temptation when He fasted for 40 days

Jesus instituted the Eucharist in the Last Supper on Holy Thursday before He passed away on Good Friday.

The Gospel today from (John 6: 51 – 58) is the most precise and clear about Jesus' presence in the Eucharist. What Jesus says He does: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is My flesh for the life of the world”; this text is a bold claim. I feel sorry for all those who do not like to recognize what Jesus said. They miss what is very important in life. There are so many Eucharistic miracles around the world that were scientifically tested and proved to be the muscle from the heart. The Eucharistic miracle of Lanciano in Italy, the one in Santarem in Portugal, recently the one in Argentina that you can see in the documentary called “ science tests faith”, and so many others.

Notice that even though the Jews quarreled, Jesus didn’t change; in the contrary, He raised the heat: “Amen, Amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life within you whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.”

The Body and Blood of Jesus are as vital to us as food and drink are. Without the nourishment of the Eucharist, God’s life in us can slowly start to drain away. Sadly, while some Catholics doubt about the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, devil worshipers do not. They are willing to pay $1,000 to $15,000 to get a consecrated host so that they can desecrate Jesus in the Eucharist. They could buy a whole box of unconsecrated hosts for only $10. Remember giving a consecrated host to devil worshipers is to act like Judas the Iscariot who sold Jesus to evil men. Jesus did say that it would have been better if he had not been born.

Knowing that Jesus is in the Eucharist, what should we do?

Come to Mass often, as much, as you can, come on time and be faithful to Him all the days of your life. Dress properly because Jesus deserves the best.

Receive Him worldly; the Blessed Virgin Mary in Medjugorje said “go to Church, receive my Son; He will give you the graces to keep going on”.

Adore Jesus in the Eucharist. I appreciate some of you who come to Church to adore Him in the tabernacle. Jesus told Alexandrina Maria Dacosta that He made Himself imprisoned in the Taber-nacle, but only few people come to keep Him company. Love all His brothers and sisters as He has commanded us.

Now, confident that our God hears us, we bring our prayers for our Church and our world:

For the Church: that through our sharing in the Eucharist, we may be transformed more and more into the Body of Christ

Lord hear our prayer For Christian unity: that Christ’s Body and Blood given for us may heal all the divisions within the Christian communi-

ty and bind us together into one body in love and service

Lord hear our prayer For governmental and civic leaders: that God will give them wisdom to address the unrest, insight into righting the

injustices, and words that will unite society

Lord hear our prayer For our community, in thanksgiving we celebrate a mass together as a community, we ask for continuing grace to

gather all of our loving Father’s children into His house to share in the sacrifice of His Son.

Lord hear our prayer For all who are unemployed or struggling financially: that God will give them courage and hope, sustain them as they

wait, and help them find new opportunities for work Lord hear our prayer

For all who are toiling with illness of mind, body, or soul and those who care for them: that God will send healing to the sick and strength and wisdom to those who care for them

Lord hear our prayer For all who have died, for our loved ones who have dies, that God will welcome them into the fullness of His vision

that we begin to know through the Eucharist.

Lord hear our prayer For these intentions, the intentions shared by the community throughout the week that we bring to the altar, and all

those intentions written in the silence of our hearts.

Lord hear our prayer

Gentle and loving God, as we prepare to gather around your altar, bring us together in hope of a new life offered in these holy mysteries. May we always remember your presence within us, and as changed people, be inspired to work for change in the world. We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN.

Twelve Promises of the Sacred Heart

ST. MARGARET MARY ALACOQUE

The message received by the Visitation nun, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque of Paray-le-Monial, contains the “Twelve Promises of the Sacred Heart” in which Jesus reveals the graces linked to this devotion. Love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus is directly related to love for the Eucha-rist. As the great apostle of this devotion, he Jesuit priest Henri Ramiere, wrote, “It is in the Eucharist that we truly find the Heart of Jesus nearest us; it is in the Eucharist that He unites Himself to us in the most intimate way, and we to Him”.

St. Margaret Mary received many mystical gifts and revelations from Jesus.

We list here the “Twelve Promises of the Sacred Heart” which the Lord revealed to her:

1. I will give them all the graces necessary for their state in life. (Letter #141)

2. I will give peace in their families. (Letter #35)

3. I will console them in all their afflictions. (Letter #141)

4. They shall find in My Heart a secure refuge during life and especially at the hour of death. (Letter #141)

5. I will pour abundant blessings on all their undertakings. (Letter # 141)

6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy. (Letter #132)

7. Tepid souls shall become fervent. (Letter #132)

8. Fervent souls shall speedily rise to great per-fection. (Letter #132)

9. I will bless the homes in which the image of My Sacred Heart shall be displayed and ven-erated. (Letter #35)

10. I will give to priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts. (Letter #141)

11. Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in My Hear, never to be blotted out. (Letter #141)

12. The all-powerful love of My Heart will grant to all those who shall receive Communion on the first Fridays of nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under My displeasure, nor without re-ceiving the Sacraments; My Heart shall be their assured refuge at the last hour. (Letter # 86)

Parish Notes-- Adoration

ADORATION HELP NEEDED!!

Because of health issues or other commitments, some of our long-time faithful members of our Parish who have been keeping an hour of Adoration for years are unable to do it any longer. Therefore, there are a number of hours that have just one person committed. There should be at least two. If, for some reason, you are una-ble to keep your hour, you can call your partner to make sure the hour is covered. There is a list of Parishioners who are willing to substitute when needed. If you visit the Chapel during Adoration and you are not on the schedule, please check the schedule in the back of the Chapel to see if one or more times works for you. For those who aren’t in the habit of of visiting the Chapel, do you feel Jesus encouraging YOU to come and spend an hour in His presence on Wednesday or Friday each week? Please consider it--pray about it--try it for three months. You will be happy you did! The schedule will be in the back of the Chapel for you to see the hours that need to be covered. Please sign your name, phone number, time you will cover and whether Wednesday or Friday. More than two people can sign for the same time! If you have any questions, please call Jackie Sanders at (916) 481-0398. Until Fr. Bernardin get further notice, there should be no more than 18 people in the Chapel at the same time...

HEAVEN FULL OF DUCKS: Three women die to-gether in an accident and go to Heaven. When they get there, St. Peter says, “ We only have one rule here in Heaven: Don’t Step on the Ducks.” So they enter Heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck. Although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one. Along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw. St. Peter chains them together and says, “Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man!" The next day, the second woman accidentally steps on a duck and along comes St. Peter, who doesn’t miss a thing, and with him is another extremely ugly man. He chains them together for eternity as well. The third woman has observed all this and not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, is very, very careful where she steps. Then one day St. Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid her eyes on. Very tan, muscular and good-looking. St. Peter chains them together without saying a word. The woman remarks, "I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all eternity?” The guy says,” I don’t know about you, but I stepped on a duck.”
