The Voice of the Business Community 3rd Quarter
Chamber Newsletter
(...it’s really not that far!)
What does it mean for a business to be a member of the Chamber?
It means opportunities. Networking. Growth. Experience. Friendships. Contacts...the list goes on and on, but you need to use it to garner the most return on investment.
I downloaded an app a few weeks ago to track what I am eating. You know the deal...too many lunch meetings/quick grabs can catch up with you. You simply login what you’ve eaten & how much you’ve exercised. It was a great two week run for me. I utilized every feature, every bell and whistle and it was wonderful! I was seeing results.
And then...life happened. My world got busier and the hours seemed shorter. I didn’t make the effort and guess what happened? Nothing changed.
We live in a world of ‘right now's’ and ‘instant everything's.’ Any business at any moment can push out a message through social media and when used correctly...can be very effective.
But what about the tried and true? What about the days when shaking a hand...passing a business card…looking someone in the eye really mattered?
Those days are still here...they just take a little more effort.
If you are reading this newsletter—1. Thank you. 2. That means that you and your team can participate in Chamber events year-round. Whether it’s networking, educational, social...you name it—we want you there. Not as a warm body in a room, but as an active participant. You will see results. Encourage other team members to participate. There is strength in numbers! Divide and conquer...
Take the leap. Put your nametag on...restock those business cards...and join us. We want to see you do your thing at the next Chamber function. Every successful business was formed from a strong foundation of a connection.
Your business deserves more than an online posting...it deserves you, front and center, taking full advantage of being a Chamber Member! And all that other online exposure...we’ve got you covered with Website/facebook/twitter and the MyChamberApp! Let’s talk! Contact me anytime— Kate Daniels, President

First Annual Elected
Officials Barbeque
Elected officials and BBQ goes together in Eastern
North Carolina just as soda goes with peanuts!
With 22 Elected officials in attendance and 85 from the business community,
attendees got a chance to say ‘thank you!’
Hal Tanner, III, Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee, had
envisioned a community gathering with no agenda...simply, come have BBQ
and say ’thank you.’ And we did just that on September 24th.
Over the sound of the music playing in the back of the Maxwell family farm
you could hear laughter…’thank you’s’...and discussion of things that have
taken place at the local and state level.
Thank you to all elected officials for the
work you do year-round—we are
grateful!
