  • Language and Literature The romance languages of today are developed from Latin in Rome.Roman authors like Virgil developed their own writings centralized around a main point, story theme, or main idea. Romes poems about love, historical writing, and dramas are spectacular writings that educators and women enjoy.Women became major topics in these plays and poems.French, Spanish, Italian, Romanian, Portuguese, and some English have developed from Romes Latin language.Homer

  • Romes SportsGymnasiums are very popular in Rome.In sporting events, athletes compete in wrestling, running, jumping, spear throwing, etc.Circuses are very popular, in which chariot races take place. Many artists focus on these circuses in their art.Gladiator combat is often seen in the Colosseum, where about 50, 000 people can sit and watch.Some women even attend these games because over time, they were allowed to.Children play sports as well, and many play Roman board games like chess and checkers.

  • Theater in Ancient RomeRoman plays are performed when there are religious ceremonies or honors. There are about 200 Roman holidays a year, therefore there are may theater plays.The only actors are men, playing several parts in the plays.Actors use hand gestures and dancing to improve the plays.

  • Art and Architecture in RomeMurals, arches, paintings, and bridges are important forms of art and architecture.Statues have topics of the gods and goddesses and the emperor. Usually, the emperors are portrayed with only the head and shoulders.Romans like art with optical illusions, which can influence and attract artists.They use wood and red paintbrushes and grasses for various colors on their art.

  • The ColosseumEmperor Vespasian began building the Colosseum, and it was finished after his death.There are more than 80 entrances and 50, 000 seats for people.Games and circuses take place in the Colosseum.It is the greatest Roman attraction.
