In Term 3 we received a new resource, magnetic tiles. All throughout the Term these were a VERY popular activity that was explored on different surfaces, with different sized groups of children and had many different resources incorporated into construction of the tiles. We saw houses, sky scrapers, rockets, planes and castles arising with many elaborate and beautiful designs. The tiles created opportunities for children to use their imaginations, to problem solve, to negotiate and to develop their Eine motor skills and they manipulated the different shapes. The interest in magnets and how the tiles could stick together lead to further investigation of how magnets work. We read stories and enjoyed a youtube clip, before exploring with a table of different magnets. We made our own magnets with sewing needles and watched as they spun in the water towards north. This lead onto wondering what North was, a concept we will explore further in Term 4 and we take some compasses out on walkabout with us! 1 Sunrise Reflection Baba Nam Kevalam - Love is All There Is ANANDA MARGA SUNRISE KINDER AND LONG DAY CARE 15 NOVEMBER 2017
