Sehizo a pecado.

Estoy enfermo, y verdad, esoque me decs. Y yo reeto tus sentimientos. We hear in the first reading, and it is said, that we have a high priest who is capableof [sympathising with our weaknesses,

but one who is similarly being tested in every way, yetwithout sin] [].Jesus is like us. Jesus lived like us. He islike us in all, in all rees, except in sin, because He wasnot a sinner. But in order to be more like us, He took on,

He assumed our sins. He became Himself unto sin. is iswhat Saint Paul says, who knew Him very well. And Jesus goes ahead of us, always in our midst, and

when we suffer from some cross, He suffered first. Andif we all gather here today, fourteen months afterwards, fourteen months after typhoon Yolanda passed, it is be-cause we possess the security that we will not fail in theFaith, because Christ suffered first. In His Passion, Heassumed all our sorrows. And whenallow me this

confidencewhen I saw from Rome this catastrophe, Ifelt that I had to be here. And on that day, on those days,I decided to make the voyage here. I wished to come inorder to be with youa little late, you will tell me, and itis truebut I am here.

I am here to tell you that Jesus is the Lord, that Jesusdoes not deceive. Father, one of you can tell me, Hedeceived me, because I lost my home. I lost my family. Ilost what I had. I am sick. And it is true, that is whatyou are telling me. And I ree your sentiments. But Ilook unto Him nailed there, and from there, He doesnot deceive us. He was consecrated Lord in that throne, and there He suffered from all the calamities that wehave. Jesus is the Lord, and He is Lord from the Cross.

No estamos solos. Tenemos una Madre. Tenemos aJess, nuestro hermano mayor. No estamos solos. Perdneme si no tengo otras palabras.

ere He reigned! He is therefore capable of under-standing us, as we hear in the first reading. Yes, He istherefore like us in all things. We therefore have a LordWho is capable of weeping with us, Who is capable ofaccompanying us in the most difficult moments of life.

So many of you have lost everything. I do not know

what to tell you. He, on the other hand, knows what totell you. So many of you have lost a part of the family. Ican only keep silence, and accompany you with myheart in silence. So many of you have asked yourselves, looking upon Christ, Why, O Lord? And to each one,the Lord reonds in the heart from His Heart. And Ihave no other word to tell you. Let us look upon Christ. He is the Lord! And He understands us because Hesuffered all the trials that unexpeedly happen to us.

And beside Him by the Cross, stood His Mother. We are like that little child who is there below, for in mo-ments of sorrow, of grief, in moments when we under-stand nothing, in moments when we wish to rebel, whatonly suits us is to throw our hand and take hold of herskirt, ask her Mam! as a little child, when he is afraid, says, Mam! And it is perhaps the only word that canexpress what we feel in those dark moments: Mother!,Mam! Let us together observe a moment of silence.

Let us look at the Lord. He can understand us becauseHe suffered all things. And let us look at our Mother, and like the child who is there below, let us take hold ofher skirt, and with our heart, let us call her, Mother. Insilence, let us say this prayer. Let everyone say what theyfeel. [Hic silentium faum est.]

We are not alone. We have a Mother. We have Jesus,Who is our eldest brother. We are not alone. And wealso have many brethren, who in this moment of ca-tastrophe came to help us. And we also feel ourselvesmore as brethren, for we have helped one another. isis the only thing that comes out of me to tell you. For-give me if I have no other words. But possess the securi-ty that Jesus does not deceive. Possess the security thatthe love and tenderness of our Mother does not deceive. And having taken hold of her as children, and with thestrength that Jesus, our eldest brother, gives us, let uscontinue forward. And as brethren, let us journey to-gether.

    OUR TAKE ON THINGS

    ACT OF REPARATION

    TOTHEMOSTSACREDHEARTOFJESUS

OSweet Jesus, Whose overflowing charity for men is requited by so much forgetful-

ness, negligence and contempt, behold us prostrate before ine altar eager torepair by a ecial a of homage the cruel indifference and injuries, to which y

loving Heart is everywhere subje.Mindful alas! that we ourselves have had a share in such great indignities, which we

now deplore from the depths of our hearts, we humbly ask y pardon and declare ourreadiness to atone by voluntary expiation not only for our own personal offences, but alsofor the sins of those, who, straying far from the path of salvation, refuse in their obstinate

infidelity to follow ee, their Shepherd and Leader, or, renouncing the vows of theirbaptism, have cast off the sweet yoke of y law.We are now resolved to expiate each and every deplorable outrage committed

against ee; we are determined to make amends for the manifold offences againstChristian modesty in unbecoming dress and behaviour, for all the foul seduions laid toensnare the feet of the innocent, for the frequent violation of Sundays and holidays, andfor the shocking blahemies uttered against ee and y Saints.

We wish also to make amends for the insults to which y Vicar on earth and yPriests are subjeed; for the profanation, by conscious negle or terrible as of sacri-lege of the very Sacrament of y divine love; and lastly for the public crimes of na-tions who resist the rights and the teaching authority of the Church thou hast founded. who in their hankering for food, struckthe bars with their plate. A terrible sight, indeed, unbecoming of the priesthood! We are but left to wonder if they werefirstly there for the Eucharist.

e same uninhibited exuberanceovercame the layfolk themselves who had

come, to such an extent that disorder im-pended upon the distribution of HolyCommunion. Where were our gadget-ypriests to inire order? Where were theordinaryministers of Communion?

e priesthood is not a playground. We need real leaders of the Church, notchoirboys with their expensive toys.

Exuberance, whatever degree it maybe experienced, or to whomever lofty per-son it may be dilayed, must never be anexcuse to effe some abuse, nor a cause toforego decorum within the Holy Sacrificeof the Mass. We expe our priests, by allmeans, to guide us in this province, and to

set an example that we should emulate. When the Holy Father processed

through the nave of the cathedral of Ma-nila, to celebrate Mass on January, ourpriests, instead of genufleing on the leftknee, whisked out their gadgets and start-ed a photographic frenzy. It was as if foodration paraded before hungry inmates,

    * Translation: I ask myself what you have got in your veins these days, you other young priests! In my time, they made men of the Church, leaders of the parish, real masters! Seminaries these days send us choirboys, young ragamuffins who think they are working harder than anyone because they never manage to finish anything.
