Amazon Rose Analysis Terminology CAMERA WORK Master Shot A shot that the director will cut from and return to. This establishes clear spatial (space) and temporal (time) relationships. Aerial Shot A view from directly overhead emphasizes a spectacle. High Angle Shot Subject looks vulnerable, isolated and powerless. Can be combined with a crane shot into a closer shot of the subjects. Wide Shot Shows a large crowd of people, or emphasize the isolation of one person. Long Shot Often used for establishing shot, or location. EDITING Dissolve “the mix” transition from one shot to the other, with two images overlapped,- changes in time and ,location, slow, or flash backs. Wipe “A mix” the replacement of one image with another by means of a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line, which wipes the image off the screen to be replaced by another. Continuity Editing Editing appears seamless and disguises the text’s construction. Action Match Character leaves on the left of one frame, enters shot on the right. Cross-cutting/parallel action A cut from one shot in one location to a second, back to the first. Suggests that events are happening simultaneously.

Analysis Terminology

CAMERA WORK
