Analysis modules for QTMFrom data collection to finished report.

Analysis modules are special Qualisys Track Manager (QTM) projects created with Project Automation Framework (PAF). Project Automation Framework is a customisable infrastructure that lets you automate repetitive tasks in QTM. The framework allows reports to be created directly from QTM (e.g. using Visual3D), making it perfect for, but not limited to, clinical applications.

Our analysis modules contain all that is needed to get from data collection to a finished report, effectively streamlining the motion capture process for each specific application. Predefined modules exist for a number of applications, including gait, golf and baseball. Each module comes with its own analysis and report template, which makes it fast and easy to produce a finished report.

PATIENT DATA MANAGEMENTPatient metadata, for example patient height, weight and date of birth, is set directly in QTM. The data is stored in a simple, transparent file hierarchy, making it easy and hassle-free to move the data across disks and computers. Each module’s file hierachy is structured in an intuitive way, visible and easily accessable from within QTM.

MARKER SET FREEDOMProject Automation Framework itself is not limited to any specific marker set – in theory you can use any marker set you want. However, each predefined module is programmed to work with a number of common marker sets. For example, the Gait modules work with CAST, Modified Helen Hayes, Skinmarker and more.

If other marker sets are desired, it is possible to create a customised ver-sion of a module.

WORD REPORT TEMPLATESMost of the analysis modules come with a f inished template for creating reports in Microsoft Word. The template is like any other Word document except that it has special f ields – fields that get populated with plots and data when the analysis is executed.

By using Microsoft Word, changes and f inishing touches become as simple as editing any other Word document. You can either make changes to the template itself or the resulting document. Since the template is just another Word document, you can change the tem-plate directly in Word.

Example of a Word report template for the Gait package.

SELECTED MARKER SETS

The Project view provides quick access to all files of a patient or subject.

Easily edit and review metadata of subjects. Fields can be inherited, copied or linked for maximised productivity.

Color coded buttons make it easy to track the progress of a ses-sion. When the required trials are captured, analysis is as simple as clicking the Analyse button.

GAIT MODULESThe Gait modules are optimised for day-to-day clinical use where data needs to be analysed efficiently and consistently. You can choose between four modes for event detection: single forceplate, multiple forceplates, instrumented treadmill and manual.

Report templates already include common gait parameters. Body segment definitions, events and report templates can be adjusted to fit the indi-vidual patient’s needs.

GOLFThe PAF Golf modules have been designed to provide golfers and coaches with the information they need whilst maintaining transparency in the biomechanical calculations and following recognised scientific standards. Using a full body marker set, the package automatically identifies all key swing events and generates a report that includes variables including stance metrics, swing plane and kinematic chain.

Modules are available for full swing (iron/driver) and putting analysis.

BASEBALLThe Baseball modules focus on pitching, delivering you insights into variables related to performance and injury prevention that cannot be measured using single cameras or the human eye. Taking advantage of the high capture speed of the Oqus cameras and Visual3D inverse kinematics algorithms, variables such as shoulder range of movement and angular velocity are calculated at release point and throughout the pitch.

RUNNINGThe Running modules provides a complete running assessment with focus on both lower and upper body. The analysis compare a range of parameters at different speeds and gives valuable insights on the runner’s technique.

HUMAN PERFORMANCEThe Human Performance module provides reliable means to determine variables such as range of movement and angular velocities for isolated joints. All major body joints are included.

Project Automation Framework overview

Process mocap data

Project Automation Framework supports adding events through three different event modes: manual, one force plate and multiple force plates. The automatic events are created in the analysis step using Visual3D’s event creation algorithm.

Penn State’s Golf Teaching and Research Center, GTRC (US) uses the Qualisys Golf module for research & education.

Clinical Gait Analysis & Research Facility at Salford University (UK) uses Qualisys Gait module and the IK/Salford marker set.

Texas Health Ben Hogan Sports Medicine - Baseball (US) uses Qualisys Baseball module.
