Application: Battery Power Tools

• Low on-resistance generates less heat in speed control of drill, which saves money and weight, and gives longer battery life

• Drills need very low on-resistance MOSFETs to withstand stalled drill due to aggressive user – 100A + through MOSFET can

happen and must survive • More cells and higher motor

voltage means higher MOSFET voltage ratings, 20V+ battery needs 40V+ MOSFET, ask what voltage battery is being used


Application: Battery Power Tools

• New drills are brushless and use 4 or more MOSFETs – Brushless drills are shorter, more

efficient, can used near flammables

• Brush type motors still use 1 or more MOSFET and are higher volumes

DC/DC Conversion
