THIRTY YEARS OF BUILDING COMMUNITY THROUGH PEOPLE, PARTNERSHIPS, AND PRIDE

The Mission of the Anaheim Community Foundation is to strengthen the Anaheim Community through people, partnerships, and pride. The goals in support of the Anaheim Community Foundation’s mission are to:

Encourage community participation, partnerships, and collaboration that result in successful responses to community challenges and opportunities.

Strengthen community-based organizations that effectively address community needs, promote volunteerism, and provide community leadership.

Promote community-building programs and events that inspire community pride and unity.

Provide individuals and businesses opportunities to make charitable investments that directly benefit the Anaheim community.

During Fiscal Year 2014/2015, the Anaheim Community Foundation continued to provide the means for people, organizations, and corporations in “Building Community through people, partnerships, and pride” in Anaheim. Under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors from the Anaheim civic and business communities, the Foundation linked citizens who wanted to give with neighbors who are in need of assistance, thereby enriching the community’s charitable spirit. Since its 1984 incorporation, the Foundation has continued to expand and provide leadership to meet community needs. In Fiscal Year 2014/2015, the Foundation maintained its firm dedication to supporting a broad base of programs, services, organizations, and facilities that enrich the lives of Anaheim residents. In the Fiscal Year 2014/2015, the Anaheim Community Foundation Board of Directors continued to offer a well-managed non-profit organization that acts as a community vehicle for accepting donations of property, money, or securities from individuals, organizations, and corporations. All contributions are returned to the community. Managing assets of over $1,019,515 this fiscal year the Foundation received $685,692 in donations and provided $419,458 in support to enhance programs and services that met human needs and aided local groups. The Board of Directors continued to provide the leadership support required to continue directing 100% of donations to the designated program and maximizing direct service to those in need. ACCOMPLISHMENTS As a result of its leadership and reputation for sound fiscal management, the Foundation’s role as a community asset continued in Fiscal Year 2014/2015. Helping Hands Grant Program - $22,000 in assistance was awarded to 17 local service organizations through its Helping Hands grant program. Helping Hands focuses on assisting community programs that improve arts and culture, youth and senior programs, community resources and emergency assistance. Grant awards range from $500 to $3,000. Funds are made possible by Anaheim residents who have made donations through their monthly Anaheim Public Utilities

bill or online at www.anaheimcf.org.

Anaheim Youth Services Assessment – The Anaheim Community Foundation was instrumental in coordinating the 2012 Anaheim Youth Assessment, which paved the way for a $3 million commitment from Angels Baseball, the Anaheim Ducks and the Disneyland Resort through Accelerate Change Together (ACT). The Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) serves as the managing partner and has brought additional funders to the program including the Ueberroth Family Foundation, Swayne Family Foundation, Donnie Crevier and the Tarsadia Foundation. ACT’s second year saw a surge in support from throughout Orange County with new funders including Bank of America, Pimco Foundation, J. Stanley and Mary W. Johnson Family Foundation, Weingart Foundation, Wells Fargo Foundation, William and Nancy Thompson Foundation, Opus Bank and Samuel Anderson Family Foundation Fund. In addition, the proceeds of the annual Anaheim State of the City event were directed to benefit ACT. ACT II, which represents the second year of funding, awarded $2 million in grants, an increase of $500,000 from the inaugural program in 2014.

The ACT initiative is dedicated to meeting the needs of Anaheim youth. Funding priorities target effective programs that specifically address service gaps, challenges and barriers to the success of Anaheim’s youth as identified in the findings of the Anaheim Youth Assessment (AYSA) Report.

I Heart OC Giving Day – The Anaheim Community Foundation participated in the “I Heart OC Giving Day” coordinated by the Orange County Community Foundation which was a 2015 initiative to raise $2 million for Orange County nonprofits over a 30-hour period. The ACF received $1,583.76 from the first ever countywide giving day held in April. New Funds - This past year, the ACF Board added the financial oversight of several new programs including: Special Olympics World Games, Park Improvements, Kash for K9’s and Veteran’s Working Group. BOARD MEMBER SERVICE

On February 2, 2015, the Board of Directors of the Anaheim Community Foundation unanimously named Irv Pickler Board Member Emeritus. As a parent, community volunteer, City Councilmember, active service club member, ACF board member and many others, Irv’s leadership and sincere love for this community has been unparalleled. Anaheim is a much stronger city and a much better place to raise a family because of Irv’s dedication. Beyond his service to our community, Irv has served America and the world in the defense of freedom as a distinguished member of our armed forces.

CREATING A CARING COMMUNITY Giving to the Anaheim Community Foundation allowed donors the opportunity to make a difference, be remembered, and enrich the quality of life in our community now and in the future. The Anaheim Community Foundation served as a charitable channel through which worthwhile programs including arts and culture, environmental/nature, gang-drug prevention and interventions, youth programs, human service/emergency assistance, senior programs, therapeutic programs, library, and scholarships were supported. Because of the Foundation’s minimal operating costs, donors had the unique opportunity to give locally and be secure in the knowledge that their gift was directed to the program of their choice. During Fiscal Year 2014/2015 the Foundation actively sought funds from the following sources:

The Foundation will continue to look for opportunities to act as Fiscal Agent in order to facilitate fundraising and services to those in need. In addition, the Foundation will continue to encourage all forms of charitable giving as a means of expanding the delivery of critical services that improve the quality of life in Anaheim.

PROGRAM NARRATIVES 2014/15

COMMUNITY SERVICES PROGRAM FUNDS YOUTH PROGRAMS Ballet Folklorico Dance Program - The Project S.A.Y. (Support Anaheim’s Youth) Folklorico and Cultural Dance Program provides youth with an opportunity to learn about and strengthen the cultural heritage and rich history of Mexican folk dance. Youth dancers perform in monthly events including the Cinco de Mayo Fair, Illumination Foundation Special Event, Dia de Los Muertos, Fullerton College STEM Conference, Orange County Fair, Senior Health Fair, Kids Giving Back Fundraiser, and various other community events. Your support will help offset the cost of dance costumes, shoes and shoe repair, and general supplies. Community Service Volunteers / VolunTeen Recognition - The 35th Annual Volunteer Recognition Event “Volunteers ROCK!” was held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Over 450 individual City of Anaheim volunteers were recognized for their valued support, including Fire, Police, and Community Services programs and facilities during the 2014 calendar year. Also recognized were contributors from local corporations and service clubs. Over $1,199,870 in support for important community based activities was received from local corporations and organizations including the Anaheim Arts Council, Anaheim Public Library Foundation, Anaheim Senior Citizen’s Club, Anaheim Public Works – Employee Transportation Center, Disneyland Resort, City of Anaheim Employees, Friends of the Anaheim Public Library, Friends of the Canyon Hills Library, L-3 IEC, Republic Services and SA Recycling. The summer 2014 VolunTeen Program had 134 active teens volunteering throughout the City and contributing 7,230 hours of service. Sites included the West Anaheim Youth Center, Pearson Park Amphitheatre, Oak Canyon Nature Center’s O.A.K.S. Summer Day Camp, Anaheim City Hall and Tiny Tots Program. Downtown Anaheim and West Anaheim Youth Centers Events and Programs - The Downtown and West Anaheim Youth Centers continued to provide a variety of activities for its youth members. The Foundation managed funding of $16,819 which was used to help offset recreation and special event supply costs that enabled the program to serve over 600 youth. Contributions of $419 were received from the Employee Giving Campaigns. Project SAY (Support Anaheim’s Youth) Youth Development - Project S.A.Y. is the City of Anaheim’s Youth Development Program and uses a combination of outreach, recreation, sports, academic support, and individualized guidance to engage junior high and high school-age youth in positive and constructive activities that help them develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for their successful transition to adulthood. Over 25,000 Project S.A.Y. outreach and guidance contacts to at-risk youth and their families were made this past year. The Foundation managed funding that provided 700 youth with the opportunity to participate in (4) Youth Leadership Conferences, (2) camping trips, (4) educational workshops, field trips to movie theatre, local amusement parks and sporting events.

Tiny Tots Academy - The Tiny Tots Academy provides a nurturing educational environment for children to acquire the skills necessary for kindergarten. We approach learning by providing hands-on experiences inside and outside the classroom. We strive to assist children in their emotional, social and intellectual development so they may fulfill their own potential. The Foundation managed $11,782.41 in support with $345.72 received from the Employee Giving Campaigns and $2,985 generated through fundraising efforts. Program locations are: Brookhurst Community Center, East Anaheim Community Center, Peralta Canyon Recreation Center and Oak Canyon Nature Center. Youth Park Playground Programs – With $82,474 of Foundation managed support, youth programs continued to provide after school activities, day camps, special events, and the “Fun on Wheels” mobile recreation programs to the Anaheim Community. Contributions included a $2,000 grant from the Anaheim Arts Council. Over 9,952 participated in these programs this past year. Youth Scholarships for Recreation and Personal Enrichment Programs – The Youth Scholarship Program was suspended due to lack of funding.

CULTURAL AND PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAMS Concerts in the Park - The free summer concert series is held at Ronald Reagan Park and provides four concerts where neighbors and families can enjoy good music, family fun and picnics on the park. Community support was outstanding with an average of 1,500 per night and the music styles ranged from classic rock, top 40, and tribute bands. The Foundation managed $29,000 in support, which included a $2,000 grant from the Anaheim Arts Council and donations from the Disneyland Resort, Concourse Bowling, and J Star Fiat. Center Gallery - The Center Gallery, which is free to the public, houses beautiful craftsman-style wall, counter, pedestal, and hallway niche display cases. Exhibits are scheduled year-round and include a wide variety of artists and media. Throughout FY 2014/2015, a variety of Orange County artists provided seven exhibits that were viewed by thousands of Center Gallery visitors. The Foundation managed $1,204 in support for the Center Gallery. Pearson Park Amphitheatre - The 2014 ‘Summer Nights Under the Stars’ season included musical theatre, magic, and of course – music! Special evenings featured Polynesian and Asian cultures and the Anaheim Ballet. More than 13,900 area residents traveled to Pearson Park Amphitheatre on Friday and Saturday evenings to experience the excitement of live theatre programming. The Foundation managed $57,233 in funding support. Donations received totaled $22,402 – which included: Disneyland Resort, Anaheim Arts Council, , L3 Communications, Frisbee Management (McDonalds), SA Recycling, Republic Services, , Irvin Howard Enterprises, Boydstun Realty, Stephen & Susan Faessel, Kiwanis Club of Greater Anaheim, Emerald Court, Anaheim Police Association, Bryan Industrial Properties, Hilgenfeld Mortuary, Ganahl Lumber, AY Nursery, Valley Crest Landscape, Firmenich and Megan Shigo.

SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAMS Advantage Assistance - The Foundation managed funding of $95,000, which provided $72,530 in assistance to more than 500 families by paying the electrical portion of their utility bill. Anaheim Public Utilities contributed $60,000 this fiscal year in support of the Advantage/ Utility Assistance Program. Community Assistance Special Events - The Foundation managed funding of $27,013 designated in support of Community Assistance Special Events. In FY 14/15, the funding for this program provided programs and special events to nearly 5,000 individuals with programming including a Women of Today/ La Mujer de Hoy Self-Esteem Workshop, Zumba fitness classes, grocery gift cards for the Annual Meals from the Heart Thanksgiving Meal Project, music entertainment for the Dedication Ceremony of the new Miraloma Park Family Resource Center, Sewing and design of costumes for the Project S.A.Y. Youth Development Program, and support towards the annual Toys for Tots Program, In addition, the Foundation received a grant stipend of $6,050 from the Orange County United Way for support and implementation of the annual Volunteer and Income Tax Assistance Program. Emergency Assistance – In FY 14/15, the Foundation managed funding of $1,872 that provided $1,746 in funding that was used to assist four Anaheim families with rent payments, home gas bills, and the non-electrical portion of utility bills. Helping Hands - The Foundation managed funding of $25,323 for the Helping Hands program. $18,829 was received from individual contributors in FY 2014/15. The Foundation awarded a total of $22,000 in grants to community organizations including: The Anaheim Arts Council, Anaheim Ballet, Anaheim Cops 4 Kids, Anaheim Family YMCA, Anaheim Public Library Foundation, Children’s Bureau of Southern California, Girl Scouts of Orange County, Kiwanis Club of Greater Anaheim, My Safe Harbor, Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center, Orange County Family Justice Center, Orange County Mentors for Youth, Pure Game, Special Olympics – Orange County, The Chance Theatre, OC Family Justice Center Foundation, Anaheim Fire and Rescue, and West Anaheim Neighborhood District (WAND). Homeless Service Projects - The Foundation managed $3,913, which made it possible for one Anaheim family to move from a motel to stable housing providing assistance with their rent. Financial support of this program is made possible by donations to the ACF. Motel Families Project – In FY 14/15, the Foundation managed funding of $600, which provided support to the initiatives of the Motel Families Project, including development of a webpage and a printed brochure. Financial support of this program is made possible by donations to the ACF; they received $1,348 from the IOC giving event.

NATURE PROGRAMS Oak Canyon Nature Center - During this past year, the Nature Center has served over 100,000 visitors and the Foundation managed $86,451 in funding. $934 was received from the Employee Giving Campaigns; $3,107 from an individual donor, $7,000 from sponsors of the City of Anaheim Employee Transportation Fair and $20,000 from Disneyland. Oak Canyon Nature Center used the funds from Disneyland’s donation to host the first Spring Fling & Eco Fun Faire special event. The center was also able to implement an outreach program in partnership with Fun on Wheels and install a California King Snake interpretive exhibit. The remaining funds will be directed toward enhancing the Interpretive Center’s educational interactive exhibits and the provision of activities that encourage children to learn about the environment and the nature elements around them. The City of Anaheim’s Oak Canyon Nature Center is a natural park nestled in the Anaheim Hills. Located on site is an Interpretive Center with live animal and regional natural history exhibits. ACF funds programs that encourage children to learn about the environment and the nature around them.

Community Trees – For FY 14/15, the Foundation supported Community Trees in planting 48 trees in our parks. $4,383 was spent on the purchasing of trees. Contributions of $242 were received from the Employee Giving Campaign to help offset costs of purchasing trees and supplies for community tree plantings. This year, trees were purchased for a volunteer tree planting event at Ronald Reagan Park. Other trees were planted at Imperial, Manzanita, Rio Vista, La Palma, and Pioneer parks. In addition, Modern Woodmen, a fraternal benefit society, provided 10 trees at a cost to them of $1,250. Two (2) trees have been planted at each of the following locations: Oak Canyon Nature Center, Brookhurst Community Center, Maxwell Park, Modjeska Park and Twila Reid Park.

SENIOR PROGRAMS Senior Citizens Emergency Assistance – During FY 14/15, the Foundation received $682 in donations from Employee Giving and provided emergency utility assistance support to one senior citizen. Senior citizens were also provided with additional utility assistance from the Advantage Assistance program. Senior Citizens Program and Senior Performing Groups - The Foundation managed $17,023 to help offset costs for food and refreshments, supplies, equipment, and entertainment for Senior Program special events. Nearly 1,700 seniors participated in special events including the Valentine’s Day Dance, St. Patrick’s Day Dance, the Annual Fashion Show and Luncheon, the Mother’s Day Tea, the Annual Health Fair, Ice Cream Socials, Country Western Dances, Oktoberfest, Winter Wonderland Luncheons, and the first Chinese New Year’s Celebration. During Fiscal Year 2014/2015, a total of $744 was received in monetary donations which were used to offset expenditures for hiring accompanists for rehearsals and performances of the Anaheim Active Older Adult Program. Senior Fitness – The Foundation managed $14,000 in support of fitness programs provided to nearly 2,000 Anaheim active older adults. Active older adults participated in table tennis, Health and Wellness classes, and Zumba Gold classes facilitated by the North Orange County Community College District, and contracted instructors.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS Flag Day Ceremony - The Foundation managed $6,636 in financial support for the annual Flag Day Celebration held on June 14, 2015, at Pearson Park Amphitheater. More than 1,000 youth and adults enjoyed the patriotic parade and A Musical Tribute to Old Glory program. Contributions from both individuals and businesses totaled $4,325. Nutcracker Downtown Holiday Tree Lighting - The Nutcracker Holiday Committee planned and conducted the 20th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in Downtown Anaheim on December 6, 2014. The program featured a “holiday village,” snow play area, train rides, performances from the Anaheim Union High School District Choir and the Anaheim Ballet, and a special visit from Santa Claus. The Foundation managed $8,750 worth of funding for this event. Contributions were received from the City of Anaheim, Anaheim Public Utilities, Anaheim Foursquare Church, and Paul Kott Realtors. Anaheim Therapeutic Recreation Building Fund - This fund was established at the Foundation’s inception to build funding support for the proposed relocation of the Anaheim Therapeutic Recreation Center (ATRC) to a new site. The ATRC program has since transition to AbilityFirst as the City’s provider and remains in the original farm house in Maxwell Park. Pending the initiation of a capitol project campaign or the awarding of a building grant, “shovel ready” plans exist for a proposed expansion of the Brookhurst Community Center that includes a multipurpose complex with therapeutic recreation wing. Therapeutic Recreation Program – The AbilityFirst – Anaheim Program is the City’s therapeutic recreation program service provider based at a facility in Maxwell Park. Over the past fiscal year, AbilityFirst conducted programming for more than 600 individuals with physical and developmental disabilities, including the popular Adults in Action, Musical Theater, and Bowling Programs. The Foundation managed $2,988.86 in financial support.

West Anaheim Neighborhood Development Council (WAND) - The West Anaheim Neighborhood Development Council (WAND) is a vital link in the community and the Foundation managed its $9,903 in financial assets. WAND hosted the 19

th Annual Western Barbeque on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Twila Reid Park. The event was a culmination of

hard work put on by the WAND committee in conjunction with City of Anaheim and Foundation support. This successful event drew over 5,000 local Anaheim residents - who enjoyed a fun-filled day that included live musical and stage entertainment, pony rides, children’s activities, an antique car and craft show, and a ‘Jaws of Life’ demonstration by Anaheim Fire & Rescue. Exhibitors including the Girl Scouts, Orange County Symphony, Anaheim Public Utilities, Anaheim Code Enforcement, Friends of the Anaheim Public Library, West Anaheim Community Garden, Anaheim Historical Society, Orange County Family Justice Center, and the Anaheim Planning Department as well as many others provided interactive and informational booths. Twila Reid Park was also the host site for WAND’s Annual Holiday Magic Christmas Tree Lighting event which was held December 5, 2014. The event was attended by over 1,000 people and included a variety of live musical entertainment, a bonfire, children’s craft activities, ceremonial tree lighting, and a special guest - Santa Claus, who brought delight and special gifts to children and their families. Contributions totaling $4,945 were received from various businesses and organizations. Show Wagon – This fund was established to raise funds to replace the Anaheim Community Services “Show Wagon” with a new Mobile Entertainment Unit. Current fund balance is $1,600 and the Anaheim Arts Council has pledged $25,000. Youth Tennis Tournament - The Foundation managed $66,586 for the Youth Tennis Program. The 51

sanctioned ‘Anaheim Junior Tennis Tournament” was held the first two weeks in December 2014 at various locations throughout the city including the Anaheim Tennis Center. As a result of this event, $7,500 in revenue was deposited with the Foundation. The Project S.A.Y. Quick Start Tennis program provided recreational opportunities and instruction to youth in Anaheim. The program served 50 children last year and includes nine (9) weeks of free (1) hour sessions in the Fall and Spring on Tuesdays and Thursdays which began in November 2014. All programs are designed to teach the fundamentals of tennis from professional instructors. Pearson Park Shade Project – An account for the Pearson Park Amphitheatre Shade Project was established in 2012. This project will provide funding for a custom designed structure comprised of sails that will provide shade for the entry, seating and stage areas. Anaheim Youth Initiative – The Anaheim Community Foundation was instrumental in coordinating the 2012 Anaheim Youth Assessment (AYSA) which paved the way for a $3 million commitment from Angels Baseball, the Anaheim Ducks and the Disneyland Resort through Accelerate Change Together (ACT). The ACT initiative is dedicated to meeting the needs of Anaheim youth. Funding priorities target effective programs that specifically address service gaps, challenges and barriers to the success of Anaheim’s youth as identified in the findings of the Anaheim Youth Assessment (AYSA) Report.

OTHER SUPPORTED ACTIVITIES Orange County Family Justice Center (Formerly Anaheim Family Justice Center) - The Center is a safe, confidential and friendly place where assistance is provided to survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault and elder/dependent adult abuse. The Orange County Family Justice Center works together to make a difference by restoring hope through the dedication of trained advocates, on-site partner and support staff. The Center is not a Police Station, but rather a "one-stop place" to secure various social services. The Foundation managed $8,122 generated through Employee Giving Campaigns. APD Mounted Unit – The Anaheim Police Department formally organized its Mounted Enforcement Unit in the spring of 1995. The Unit’s horses have been patrolling their streets and alleys in target neighborhoods and parks, performing enforcement activities as well as community relation activities. With attendance at the Fall Festival Parade, Cinco-De-Mayo celebrations, Angel baseball games, Honda Center events, Flag Day Celebration/Parade and other large city events, the APD Mounted Enforcement Unit is an asset in public relations as a highly visible and positive police presence. With some of their $4,260 in donations for FY 2014/15, they purchased stuffed horses which were distributed by the officers to patients at CHOC Hospital. Anaheim Police Foundation – The Anaheim Police Foundation has a balance of $1,941.

APD - Awards and Retirement Ceremony – This fund was established in support of the annual Anaheim Police Department’s Awards and Retirement Ceremony. The ceremony includes awarding of the Medal of Valor, Distinguished Service, Life Saving, Joseph T. Malloy Career Achievement Award, Special Recognition, Special Unit of the Year, Division Employee of the Year - both Sworn and Civilian, and Randall W. Gaston Community Service Award. The ceremony also honors all current retirees. The Foundation managed $29,489 in funding resources toward event related expenses in FY 2014/15.

APD - Homeless Resource Fund – The Foundation managed $9,250 in donations to support the Homeless Outreach Team.

C4K - Cops for Kids - C4K is a program of the Anaheim Police Activities League (APAL) that serves all children between the ages of 5 and 17 who live in or attend school in Anaheim and aims to establish positive relationships among youth, police, and the community at large. APAL's goals are to provide alternatives to gangs, drugs, and other criminal activities through a vast array of programs. In particular APAL provides a variety of cultural, educational and recreational activities for the youth of Anaheim. These diverse programs help youth develop a positive self-image and successful interpersonal skills which will encourage them to stay in school and play a constructive role in the community. The Foundation managed $8,785 in funding resources, generating $2,738 through Employee Giving Campaigns. DEVOTE – Anaheim’s Dedicated Employee Volunteers Offering Time and Energy - DEVOTE raises funds and organizes special events for people in need throughout Anaheim. It is comprised of City employees who donate their time and energy to work on philanthropic community projects. The Foundation managed $15,689 in funding resources on behalf of DEVOTE, generating $10,918 through Employee Giving Campaigns. DEVOTE awarded over $13,500 to numerous Anaheim based organizations including the Orange County Family Justice Center, Anaheim Community Service’s Adopt-A-Family and Thanksgiving Meal Programs, 2015 Pearson Park Amphitheatre’s Summer Nights Program, Grandma’s House of Hope Women’s Shelter, Anaheim Homeless Collaborative, Anaheim Relay for Life as well as Anaheim Fire’s Wear Your Helmet Like a Pro Program. Fire – CERT Program – Anaheim Fire & Rescue’s (AF&R) Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is led by the agency’s Emergency Management & Preparedness Section which provides disaster preparedness education and information to the residents and businesses in Anaheim. The City has a comprehensive Emergency Management Program which includes all elements necessary in planning and training for the ability to respond quickly and effectively in the event of a major emergency or disaster. These elements include the Emergency Operations Center, our Hazard Mitigation and Emergency Operations Plans, Public Education Programs, and trained volunteers in CERT and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (RACES). With $145 in donations, we provide support and training to our amazing volunteers who provide an invaluable service to our City at the most critical times.

Fire – Education/Community Relations -- Anaheim Fire & Rescue’s Public Education and Community Relations program serves to provide Fire Prevention education and information to Anaheim residents and businesses. The Community Risk Reduction section of AF&R has identified potential risks and created outreach programs for residents including Home and Fire Safety, Older Adult programs, Home Safety Visit Program, Water Safety, Building Defensible Space through Fire Safe Landscapes, and Wildfire Home Consultations. By engaging the community through our educational programs, AF&R can help reduce the risk of fire and need for rescue. Fire – EXPLORER Program -- Anaheim Fire & Rescue’s EXPLORER ‘Learning for Life’ Program offers young adults 14 through 21 years of age the opportunity to become part of the AF&R’s Explorer Post. Fire Explorers learn firefighting skills, hose lay evolutions, ladder techniques, salvage operations, wild land firefighting procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, basic first aid, and leadership skills that can be applied to any career. After meeting the minimum requirements they have the opportunity to participate with professional Firefighters and observe how AF&R performs its duties. The Foundation managed $214 through Employee Giving Campaigns. Fire – WEAR YOUR HELMET LIKE A PRO – Riding a bike, skateboard or scooter in Anaheim offers fun and exercise, but for our youth, riding without a safety helmet there’s a 50% chance that they will most likely experience a severe brain injury in a fall. That’s why Anaheim Fire & Rescue launched our WEAR YOUR HELMET LIKE A PRO initiative – a campaign to promote the use of safety helmets in our youth from ages 5 – 14. With the assistance of our local professional sports franchises and our own Anaheim Firefighters, youth are reminded that helmets are needed when at work and play. Working in collaboration with Anaheim’s seven local school districts, schools are provided classroom posters and customized safety helmets bearing the AF&R emblem. Safety helmets are also available at Anaheim’s 11 Fire Stations free of charge. $4,585 in donations from employee giving campaigns and grant donations allow more helmets to be distributed to Anaheim youth.

Library - The Anaheim Public Library Foundation is a clearing house for community input and sponsors Library fund raisers such as the Annual Mystery Authors Luncheon held each spring. These Library friends care about the welfare of the library and strive to strengthen the library's resources to the community. Proceeds go to support library collections, special programs, and many valuable extras that enhance the library experience. The Foundation managed $3,800 in funding resources, generating $2,805 through Employee Giving Campaigns.

MUZEO, Inc - The MUZEO engages the community by exploring and celebrating our diverse heritage, culture and arts through creative programming. The MUZEO hosts three traveling exhibitions per year which would otherwise not be displayed in the region. A new model for urban cultural centers the MUZEO will feature a unique variety of changing exhibitions, special events, lectures, classes and weekend festivals. The 25,000 square foot MUZEO complex encompasses Anaheim’s original Carnegie Library (built in 1908) and a new state-of-the art gallery space which has been seamlessly integrated into an urban setting. The Foundation managed $182 in funding resources generated through Employee Giving Campaigns.

Sister City – This program focuses on implementing economic development, government collaboration and cultural exchanges with its sister cities around the world. During fiscal year 2014/2015, the Sister City Commission worked diligently to establish relationships with Pudong, China in an effort to make it Anaheim’s third sister city; the Commission expects a formal agreement to be signed in early 2016. Each year, the Sister City Commission works to uphold its responsibilities to maintain the integrity and spirit of the existing relationships, implement the council's vision for expansion, and provide the Mayor and Council with recommendations on future sister city relationships based on revised objectives. In FY 2014/15 the Foundation managed over $20,000 in resources and provided $11,110 toward exchange student expenses and installation of a bronze plaque in Mito Square. Anaheim Employee Club – This fund is utilized to provide support to city employees that are seriously ill or have lost a loved one. Funds are raised through employee contributions and fundraising activities. In FY 2014/2015, contributions totaled $446 and expenses were $96. City Events – The City events account had no activity in FY 2014/2015. It has a fund balance of $1,049.47

Community Gardens – Knowing our neighbors and making personal connections is vital to vibrant and safe communities. This project was introduced in 2012 and embraces Anaheim’s agricultural roots. Across the City, people are getting the opportunity to plant crops, meet their neighbors, and build more vibrant communities as a result of the Anaheim Community Gardens. There are four gardens located throughout the City with one open in each of the East, West, South, and Central Districts. The Central Garden had $1,965 in contributions and spent $335 for gardening supplies. Community Garden East had $10,237 in contributions and $9,418 in disbursements that included benches, wheelbarrows, utilities and gardening supplies. Community Garden South had no activity in 2014/2015 and has an account balance of $2,012. Community Garden West received $1,769 in contributions and had $1,144 in disbursements for fruit trees, utilities and gardening supplies.

Anaheim Health Fair – The Anaheim Health Fair, with the help of founding partners GBS Linens, Inc. and Anekant Community Center, celebrated its ninth anniversary in 2015. Dr. Nitin Shah and Mr. Pravin Mody have dedicated their time and expertise to organize health fairs that ensure individuals and families throughout Anaheim can enjoy free access to basic medical attention. The event was hosted by the Anaheim Convention Center, and marked the beginning of an innovative partnership with Remote Area Medical (RAM), a non-profit organization dedicated to holding large-scale free health clinics around the globe. Joining with RAM allowed the Anaheim Health Fair to expand to a three-day event. The Foundation managed $99,350 in contributions to support this community event. Kash 4 K9’s – This fund was created to help support BRUNO and all his friends of the Anaheim Police K9s. All donations will go towards the monuments that will be created and placed in two different parks in Anaheim. The monuments will pay tribute to all K9's that serve and protect us. We honor the Anaheim Police K9's for their hard work, talent and dedication. The Foundation received $36,863 in monetary contributions for Kash 4 K9’s in FY 2014/2015.

Parks Enhancement – This fund was established in April 2015 to support fundraising efforts to support park improvements at Twila Reid and other Anaheim parks.
