The Task Force on Harmonization of Statistical Classifications (TFSC)

Second Phase Programme o ensuring the adoption of the ACIC and ISIC by

the entire statistical system; o assisting some countries with less developed

statistical system to develop their national SIC in accordance with the ACIC and ISIC Rev.4;

o constructing correspondence tables, linking the newly revised national SIC with ACIC and ISIC Rev.4, and with the former national SIC ;

o developing guidelines for comparison of statistics under different national SICs ;

Report Meeting on Harmonisation of Statistical Classification:

o ACIC endorsement by AHSOMo The AMEICC Secretariat reported to AHSOM the

results of comparability study (in 4 countries) on manufacturing industry statistics that cover all categories of 4 dgts ISIC of mfcturing industries;

o The AMEICC, proposed to expand the comparability study to also include China and ROK and to establish an East Asia Expert Meeting on Manufacturing Statistics (EAMS)

o AHSOM welcoming of EAMS Initiative and Provision data to EAMS

EAMS Result (2007-2008)

o Adopted the EAMS TOR and agreed with the scope of activities in the Work Programme;

o First year EAMS result (2007-08): pilot project in Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. A prototype (model) of detailed 4-digits level manufacturing industry is ready to be adopted by AMSs and Plus 3 as a basis for developing East Asia Manufacturing Industry Classification (EAMIC)

o The draft of (EAMIC) is ready to be endorsed in 4th EAMS.
