● Based in Moscow, Idaho, in the northwest corner of the United States. Moved into the UK a couple of years ago. We currently work with 92 Colleges in the UK

Objective information is out there, but it presents Colleges with three main difficulties:

● Difficult to source

● Really difficult to make sense of

● Even more difficult to analyse and then use to good effect

● We gather over 30 data sets, mostly from Government sources

● EMSI economists analyse the data sets concerned, taking the strengths and discarding the weaknesses. These sets are then merged to provide multi-layered cross-checking

● In total, this creates over 20 million data points for the UK, split into Government Office Regions, Counties and Local Authority areas

● The data is updated yearly

Economic Impact Studies

● The report calculates the net impact of an institution to the Region it serves, in terms of value to Learners, Businesses, Taxpayers and the Community

● This data is provided in a presentation-ready report, giving solid evidence of an institution’s social and economic impact

● In 2003, we started building a tool using the LMI we had collected for the Impact Studies

● Analyst is a comprehensive web-based Labour Market research and analysis tool that gives a College instant access to key local information on jobs and skills across Industries and Occupations

● Its main use in FE Colleges is in the areas of Curriculum Planning,

course provision and Employer Engagement

● In 2008, EMSI created a second web-based tool to help Learners and job seekers access good, local Labour Market data to gain the right career vision

● Career Coach informs current and prospective Students how the education Colleges provide will lead to sustainable careers that interest them

● The main area of use for FE Colleges is in the area of Careers guidance and Marketing
