I think that you are right to say Queenswalk Community Center,because the venue changed after the flyer had been made. Adi Cox I still remember Burn the church song, but I must have been out ofmy head soon after the gig because I have often wondered what happened. Itis a shame that the band ended there, but it was probably the best way itcould have ended.


Adi Cox Yes, great band the Stranglers, but Hugh Cornwell is missing fromthe line up now. I will see if I can find the words to Burn The Church in an oldpoetry book of mine and post it to you.

Adi Cox I have not seen Shane or Ian for many years. I saw Shane last inMansfield. He was a biker and he had a lass with him. The flyer Shane gaveme and I kept it all these years.

Senile people form the congregation

shouts of amen and a sense of false elation.

Silver trays donations for their cause

came too late for the ceilings and floors.

tiles decay, timbers rot.

Priest saw hope. I think not.

At long last the sleeping awoke

came on Sunday, found the church in smoke.

The Bishop came down to sort out the mess

beams burnt down, embers scorched his dress.

A silver cross had melted in the ground.

stained glass windows were shattered all around.

Vicars dismay was no lightening.

sun burst through the future was a brightening.

Former senile people look back and laugh

where the church once was is now an epitaph.
