GROWING A HOME FOR INNOVATIONTo expand our Tech Port vision, we’re launching a comprehensive innovation center that will have a transformative impact across the community. The facility will significantly accelerate and grow the reach of tech opportunities on our campus and beyond. It will bolster innovation by promoting connections and collaborations between industries, researchers, educators and other stakeholders across the nation and around the world. And it will be the front door that inspires and prepares the next generation of San Antonio’s innovators.

A PLACE FOR GATHERING - The center will be a dynamic resource accessible to students, families, educators, startups and seasoned tech professionals alike. A central common area, featuring a LAN gaming space, and a food hall will allow an array of visitors and users to engage and interact in their shared interest in learning about and participating in technologies that are evolving and showcased throughout the center.

TECH TRANSFER FACILITY – This large space equipped with state-of-the-art prototyping tools and IT infrastructure will allow technology firms, researchers and academia to work side-by-side and develop the next generation of innovations. The space can be configured for users ranging from startups to large tech firms and partnering universities.

TECHNOLOGY ARENA & CONFERENCE CENTER – This large capacity arena will be like no other in the region—equipped with A/V and LAN technology and highly configurable. The multi-use facility will host electronic gaming, robotics, cybersecurity and drone tournaments as will also support technology demonstrations, conferences, training activities, trade shows, and entertainment.

TECHNOLOGY MUSEUM & INDUSTRY SHOWROOM – The center will provide the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology (SAMSAT) a platform to expand

its work connecting young people to futures in advanced technologies through unique exhibits and innovative STEM programs. A large portion of this public space will showcase new technologies developed at the Port and throughout San Antonio—serving as a showroom that presents those innovations to potential buyers.

CLASSROOMS AND MEETING ROOMS – Throughout the

center, spaces of different sizes will accommodate group meetings and activities promoting learning and collaboration.

TRANSFORMING OUR REGION’S ECONOMYAEROSPACE Boeing, with its largest sustainment operation at the Port is doubling its workforce. New projects include modernization of the Navy’s F/A-18 Superhornet fleet and manufacture of the next generation Air Force One. StandardAero, operating in highly specialized workshops and R&D space, is adding hundreds professionals as it serves a growing defense and commercial clientele. And Knight Aerospace, which creates specialized systems that convert cargo aircraft to serve multiple uses, including as flying emergency rooms, has moved its headquarters onto the Port.

CYBERSECURITY Lockheed Martin Cyber Solutions, CACI, and CNF Technologies launched new operations between 2018 and 2019. During this time, established customers Northrop Grumman, Booz Allen Hamilton and Salient CRGT also grew in other parts of the campus with offerings that include testing/R&D and operational support to military and commercial clients. In 2021, the City of San Antonio and CPS Energy will launch the Alamo Regional Security Operation Center (ARSOC) on the Port campus--the nation’s first truly integrated facility for municipal critical infrastructure cybesecurity.

APPLIED TECHNOLOGY San Antonio-based robotics firms Reckon Point and Plus One Robotics established operations here in 2018 and continue to grow as they pursue global opportunities by retrofitting robots with sensors, artificial intelligence and cyber technology. Their innovations are revolutionizing global industries, including supply-chains, manufacturing, aerospace, facilities management and others.

EDUCATION Established customers IPSecure, IOMAXIS and Dynamic Advancement expanded their training and certification offerings for IT, cybersecurity and other professionals.

The San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology (SAMSAT) expanded its collaboration with NASA-funded WEX Foundation and an array of area schools and universities—delivering innovative STEM-based programs to over 40,000 students since 2018. The museum is also a central gathering platform and connector for cybersecurity, robotics and other industry

professionals through a growing number of programs and events. These efforts will be substantially expanded at the museum’s upcoming innovation center location. Additionally, in 2020 Compass Rose, a public charter school open to all area students, launched a new K-12 campus at the Port with a focus on STEAM-based curricula.

NEW STATE-OF-THE ART FACILITIESPROJECT TECH – BUILDING 1

PROJECT TECH – BUILDING 2

COMING IN 2021 – Like Building 1, this upcoming 174,000-SF. facility accommodates additional offices for cybersecurity, DoD and other operators who require secure and customized finish-outs. Available spaces from 2,000 to 80,000 SF.

Completed in 2018, this 90,000-SF facility close to major DoD cyber operations at the Port and nearby was fully-leased within less than a year. The secure building has redundant power and telecommunications and can be finished-out to SCIF standards.
