Nick: I'mdoingwell,man.Freshoffacouplecrazyweeksoftravelandit'snotgoingtoslowdownanytimesoon.

Giovanni: I'msuperexcitedtochataboutthisepic,worldgame-changingprojectthatweareworkingon.Let'sgiveaquickoriginofthestorycontextthough.Forpeoplewhomaynotknowwhoyouare,andwhatyouareupto,tellustheNickNantonone-minutestory.

Nick: SoI'manentrepreneur,andabouteightyearsagoIgotintofilmmaking.IjustthoughtitwassomethingthatIwantedtotry.Inthelasteightyears,I'vemadearound60documentaries.We'vereceived25Emmy®nominations,ofwhichwe’vewon11.Whichsoundsreallygood,butitsucksbecauseI'velostmorethanI'vewon.Justkeepthatinmind.

Anyway,oneofmymissionsinlife,andoneofthereasonsGiovanniandIareworkingonthisproject,isIwasakidfromanothercountry.Weweren'tlivingintheprojectsoranything,butweweredefinitelynotwealthyandmyparentsdidn'thaveanyrealconnectionsinAmerica.However,therewerethingsthatIwantedtoaccomplishasakidsoIhadtoturntobooksandCDs,whichwasgreat.IgotmyfirstTonyRobbinsCDsfrommytenniscoach,theywereactuallypiratedCDs(don’ttellTonythat!).IrealizedyoucouldgetaccesstomentorsinotherwaysthaninpersonandthatwastheonlywayIwasgoingtogetaccesstothem.

So,asIstartedtogetintothebusinessworld,muchlikeyouGiovanni,Iwasreallyblessedtobeabletogetintoroomsandintoprivateconversations,includingmentoringandmastermindgroups,withsomeofthegreatestmindsintheworld.Itbecameabiggoalofmine,tocreatethenextgenerationofbooks(films).Notthatbooksaregoinganywhere,andtheynevershould.However,Ihadthisideatomakethelargestcollectionofentrepreneurialfilmsthatcouldhelpbillionsofpeoplearoundtheworld.Nowthat'sabitgrandiose.I'vereallyspecializedoverthelasteightyearsmakingfilmsfornon-profits.I’vedonesomereallycoolstuffinanti-humantraffickingandPTSDinourtroopsandorphanages…ithasbeensomereally,reallymindblowingstuffforme.Itwasreallytransformationalforme.

I’vealsosharedthebusinessstoriesoficonslikeJackCanfieldofChickenSoupfortheSoul,BrianTracy,PeterDiamandis,JayAbraham,etc.I'vedonelotsandlotsandwhatIwanttodoismakeanentertainingformatwhereanyonecanwatchDanSullivan(Ididhisdocumentary)andyoucansay,"Ohwow,Icanlearnfromthis."Then,also,wecanusethesefilmstoeducateanyonewhoisinterestedinlearningaboutanentrepreneur.Ifoundthisformatofimmersivelearningisreallyfunforthatpurpose.Selfishly,oneofthefirstreasonsIstarteddoingit,probablymuchlikeyourself,Ihavealotoffriendswhoask,"Ohhey,you'reanentrepreneur,wouldyoutalktomysonaboutbeinganentrepreneur?"AndIthink,“Wellyeah,buthowdoyoutake30yearsofexperienceandwrapitupintoanhourconversation?”Ican't.

Sonow,Icansay,“I’dloveto,here'swhatI'mgoingtodo,I'mgoingtosendyouabunchofmoviesforhimtowatch.OncehewatchesBrianTracy,JackCanfield,JayAbraham,DanSullivan,PeterDiamandisetc.andtakesanynotesdown,andquestionshehasthenwecanhaveameaningfulconversationaboutwhatitistobeanentrepreneur.”Also,inthosefilmsI'vetriedtoshowhowthere'snobox,there'snomoldtobeinganentrepreneur.Youjustcreateitasyougo.Andso,that'smorethanaminute…butthat'swhywe'rehere.YouandIstartedtalkingaboutsomethingsyou'vebeenworkingonandwithmypassiontocreatemoreofthesefilmsitledushere.

Giovanni: YouworkedonaprojectwithRussellBrunsonandthatwasabouthumantrafficking.

Nick: Yeah.I'vedonetwoprojectswithRussellandI'mactuallyworkingonRussellandClickFunnels'documentary.I'mactuallygoingtoBoise,IdahotovisitwithRussell.

Giovanni: Andheusedthatfirstfilmtoraisemillionsforacharitythathecaredabout.Russellthenapproachedmesaying,"Canwebrainstormanideathatwecoulddosomethingsimilarthatisn'tagiantfundraiseralready?”Butwewantedtotakeittothenextlevel.However,forme,Ididn'twantittobeadramatic,negativestory,whichIknowworks,butIwantittobemoreaspirationalinnature.

Nick: Right.

Giovanni: Igrewupbeingcalleda“Dreamer,”whichisabadword.Butanyoneyouknowwho'savisionaryisadreamer.They'vebeenabletoexecuteandmaketheirdreamsareality.Forme,thebiggestthingI’dliketobecomemymissionorlegacyistogiveyoungerpeoplepermissiontodream,andmakethemrealizethattheycandreamonamuchbiggerlevel.Iwanttoencouragethat.So,partofwhatwe'recreatingisafilmcalledDreamerandit’sreallyforthem.It'snotaboutmystoryorme...whatIwanttodoisfeaturealotofpeoplewhoaredreamersorhavebeendreamersandhaveexecutedbigthings.Iwanttousethisasawayofmotivatingandinspiring,notjustyoungpeople,butanybody.Ijustwanttoshowpeoplethatit'spossible.

Nick: Absolutely.Thenaswestarteddiscussingthis,itstartedgettingreallyinterestingandweagreed,let'sdothis.Wheredowebegin?Wedidn’tknow,butwe’vebeenfiguringitout.So,somethingI'msuperexcitedabout...wellI'lltellaquickstory…PeterDiamandisisanamazingguy.Iknowmanypeoplehavereadhisbooks,BoldandAbundance.WhenIgottheopportunity,IpitchedPeteraboutmakinghisdocumentaryforovertwoyears.AssoonasAbundancecameoutIkeptasking,"Wouldyouletmemakeyourdocumentary?"Andhesaid,"Ah,thisotherguysalreadydoingit."However,asI'velearnedoverthecourseofmylife,prettymucheveryonedisappearsforsomereasoninlife.There'snotmanypeoplewhoactuallydowhattheysaythey'regoingtodo.SoIjustkeptbuggingPeter,untilfinally,Iknewitwasgoingtohappen.TheotherguydisappearedandPeteragreedtoletmedothemovie.

AsIwasmakingPeter'smovie,IwasinvitedtosomeveryexclusiveeventsfortheXPrizenon-profit.Thosewhodon'tknowPeter,hebasicallycreatedtheXPrize,whichputthefirstprivatespaceshipinsuborbitalflight.RichardBransonboughtit,whichis

nowVirginGalacticandIcoveredallthatinthemovie.ButasIwasinsomeoftheseprivateevents,Irealizedinthatmoment,Ineedtobespendingmoretimeinroomslikethis.Becauseallthequalitiesthatmanyofushave,maybesomethatmadeyoufeelguiltyaboutasachild,arewhatDanSullivanwouldcallyouruniqueability.Wearebornwiththeseuniqueabilities.

MineisIamsuperADHD.IlearnedfromKindergartenthatifIwasgoingtogetsomethingdone,Iwasgoingtodoitsuperfast.Andbytheway,thistookmeuntilrecentlytorealizethis.Ireallyacceptedthisinprobablythelastsixmonthsofself-analysis.InmyKindergartenclassyou'dgetastampeverytimeyoufinishedacenter.SoIwouldrushthroughthesecentersandI'dgohomelikeIinventedsleevetattoos.Ihadstampsallloadedonmyarm.AsIgotolderinlife,IstartedgettingsignsfromteachersthatIwasn'tgreatateverysubject,butifIhadtodoatestIwouldfinishitquickly.IhadtohyperfocusorIwasnevergoingtogetdone.IfIdidn'tgetdonein12minutes,itwasnevergoingtogetdone.MyfirstlawschoolexamIfinishedin33minutes,andwehad3hours.Theteacherswouldsay,"Hecan'tdothat,"or"Youneedtogobackandcheckyourwork."Then,whenIwouldcheckmywork,I’dsecondguessmyselfandchangeananswerthatwascorrecttoawrongone.

Giovanni: Right.

Nick: Becauseatthatpoint,Iwasnolongerfocused.But,youstartlookingbackatyourlife,andyourealizeyouhavewhatpeoplehavecalledsuperpowers,auniqueability,orwhatevertheywanttolabelit.However,we’retaughtnottousethemalotoftimesbecauseitdoesn'treallyfitintotheschoolsystem.Ican'tblamethem;ateacherhas20to30kids.They'vegottousetraditionalschooling.Irealizedayearago,thatshortamountofhyperfocuswasreally,naturallythewayIoperated.ButIwassortofforcedtopushthosetendenciesdownovertimebecauseitwasn'tfairtoeverybodyelsethatIalwaysfinishedmytestandgotthepizzafirst,right?

AsIstartedspendingtimeinroomswithguyslikePeterandRichardBranson,andIwasjustwithMarkCubanatabigeventinLasVegas,Iwaslike,“Ohwaitaminute,it'sokay.It'sokaytobethisway,toreallyplaytoyourstrengthsanddream.”So,beinginroomswithguyswhoputspaceshipsupsortofchangesthewayyouthinkaboutthings.

AsyouandIbegantalkingaboutthisnewfilm,Igotexcitedaboutwhowecouldgetinvolvedinthis.Certainly,yourvoiceandthemessageyouwanttoshare.So,wewillhaveyoutietogetherthenarrativeofthemovie.Andthen,Isaid,whydon'twetrytogetPeter?Peterobviouslydreamed.

OneofmyfavoritestoriesaboutPeterishewasatHarvardMedicalSchool,becausehisparentswantedhimtobeadoctor.So,hewenttomedicalschool,andthedeanoftheschoolcalledhiminandsaid,"Hey,Peter.Iwillonlyletyougraduateononecondition."Petersaid,"What'sthat?"Andhesaid,"Well,Iseeyouinthehallwaysbetweenclassesandsurgeries,you'realwaysonthephone.”AtthetimePeterhadarocketcompany,actuallyhehadlikethreespacecompanies.Butthedeancontinued,"Iwillonlyletyougraduateifyoupromisemeyou'llneverpracticemedicine.Andyou'llactuallyfollowyourpassionofspace."

Iwonderhowmuchofthatwasgeniusonthedean'spartofrecognizingPeter'struegift.OrhowmuchofitwasPeternotlivinguptotheexpectationsofaHarvardMedicalSchoolprofessor?Idon'tknow.Ican'timaginePeterwasn'tcrushingit;he'soneofthesmartestguysI'veevermet.Butagain,itcomesdowntowhatareyoudreamingabout?What'syourpassion?HewasgoingthroughfriggingHarvardMedicalSchool,andbuildingrocketandspacecompaniesontheside.Nowthat'shiswholelife.Heownsanasteroidminingcompany.Ican'tmakethisstuffup.Asteroidmining,right?ThegreatnewsisIcalledPeterandheisallintoparticipateinthisproject.

Thenexttwoguestsarereallyexcitingforme.I'veworkedwithbothofthembeforeaswell,butnotasindepthaswe'regoingtothistime.I'llstartwithDeanKamen.DeanistheinventoroftheSegway.Heinventedtheportableinsulinpump;Ibelievewhenhewashighschoolorcollegeage.Ireadastorysomewherewherehehadtosendhisparentsoutonavacationsohecouldturnhishouseintoafactorytomanufactureallthesethingsandgetthemoutthedoorwithoutinterruptinghisparents’lives.Hewasliterallyinventinglifesavingequipment,medicalbreakthroughsasanadolescent.And,obviouslylikeIsaid,heinventedSegwayandtheCocaColafreestylemachine.Cokerealizedthathewasreallygood,hehadbeenworkingatastayathomedialysismachineandsothesecompaniesrealizedthathewassogoodatprecisemeasurementsthatmaybehecouldbetheonetomakethisWillyWonkaCokemachine.AndDeandidit.Now,I'mgoingtoaskhimbecauseI'veheardthisinlorebutnotdirectfromthehorsesmouth,ifyouwill.IbelievethatthoseCocaColamachinesallcollectdata.WhenyoustartseeingnewCocaColaflavorspopup,likeorangevanillaCoke,it'sbecausesomanypeoplehavebeenmakingitinthesemachines.Nowthat’salllore,butwecanaskDeanbecausehewillknow.Wellhemaynotbeabletotellus,orhe'dhavetokillus.Buthe'safascinatingguy.

IgottheopportunitytogotoDean'sprivateisland.It'scalledNorthDumplingIsland.HeistheLordofNorthDumplingIsland.It'sridiculous.Hehashisownpassportstamps,butyougetaskedlotsofquestionsatimmigrationifyoureallyuseit.Hehashisownconstitution.Hehashisowneverything.Andit’sliterallyaWillyWonkaworld.Theproblemis,it'soffthecoastofNewHampshireandthereareaboutthreedaysayearwhereyoudon'twanttokillyourselfwhenyou'retherebecauseit’ssocoldinthemiddleofthewater.Youhavetohelicopterthereandallthismess…ButIalsohadtheopportunitytogotoDean'sestatehomeinNewHampshireanditisoneofthemostmind-blowing,dreamertypeplacesI'veeverseen.Hehasahelicopterhangarandhebuiltthisrobotthingthatsitsinside.Thesedoorsgoupandhishelicoptergetspushedoutsideonthisdolly.Hegetsinandhefliesittoworkandfliesitbackhomeanditgoesbackinthegarage.Heactuallyhasabookcasethatwhenyoupulltherightbookitopensuptoabedroom.ForthelastthreeyearstheemployeesatDEKA(Dean’scompany)buildhimaChristmaspresent.They’vebuiltamachinetoplaychessagainst,andanumberofreallyawesomeinventions.

It'satotaldreamer'sparadise,andsoIsaid,“Dean,wouldyoubeinthemovie?”Andhe'slike,“Ofcourse,I'llbeinthemovie.”AnotherquickreasonwhyDeanwoulddoitisbecausehefoundedanorganizationcalledFIRST,FortheInspirationResearchofScienceandTechnology.Itwascreatedtogetkidsinvolvedinscienceandtechnology.

HecreatedthisroboticsleaguewherefiftythousandkidsdescendintothisonearenaeveryyeartocompeteintheWorldFinals.I'vebeenandit'smind-blowing.
