About Arlesey

Arlesey has plenty to offer those looking to move on to and up the property ladder. London is easily commutable, whilst allowing you to come home to an engaging rural lifestyle, within a countryside setting.

Arlesey’s history dates back over two millennia. It is the longest village in Bedfordshire, north to south it extends 3 miles, broadly following the path of the river Hiz. It once known for its large brick making industry, especially Arlesey White bricks, made from the local Gault clay; production finally ended in 1992. Two of the former nearby clay pits have been turned into lakes: the Blue Lagoon is used for sailing and the Green Lagoon for fishing. Hitchin Lavender is located at Cadwell Farm, just over a mile south of Arlesey; it is open to visitors in the summer.

Arlesey War Memorial, situated at the junction of House Lane and the High Street

MAY FAIR PLACE

Arlesey railway station, is located 0.7 miles to the north of May Fair Place. From here the East Coast Main Line operates a regular services to London King’s Cross and Peterborough. The peak journey time to London King’s Cross is 41 minutes. Walking to the station you’ll pass the Grade I listed St Peter’s Church, initially built in 1180 by the monks of Waltham Abbey. In addition to its excellent rail link, the A1(M), junction 10, is located 3.5 miles to the east.

In addition to the local retailers providing for your daily needs: Hitchin, Shefford and Letchworth Garden City are the nearby local places for shopping.

There is an abundance of rural riches to be found in Arlesey. This is centred around the Old Moat Nature Reserve and Glebe Meadows, which has the Hicca Way footpath passing through them. These nature reserves are located to the west of Arlesey railway station.

There is also a choice of pastimes for all to be found within the Arlesey, in addition to sailing and fishing. For children there is Arlesey Rainbows, Brownies and Guides and also Arlesey Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. There are two football clubs, Arlesey Town Youth Football Club has ten teams from under 7s to under 17s. Whilst Arlesey Town Football Club is a separate senior team. There is a Multi Use Games Area, with changing rooms, located behind the Village Hall; the hard court surface is suitable for 5-a-side football, netball and tennis. Arlesey Women’s Institute meets in the W I Hall located on the High Street. Arlesey also has a choir called Vivace. Whilst Arlesey Town Council provides an excellent point of reference for information concerning the locality

About May Fair Place

There is a selection of one, two and three bedroom terraced and three and four bedroom detached houses at May Fair Place.

The development can be found towards the Northern end of the village whilst still being just a few hundred yards from its centre. The design concept is influenced by the existing historic vernacular, replicating many of the details in our own house types. The combination of the latest construction methods and attention to detail are your guarantee of a well-built home that will age elegantly and stand the test of time. Here at May Fair Place the addition of sensitive landscaping and planting make the transition between urban and rural life all but seamless.

The development itself consists of forty properties overall. For the private buyer there’s an eclectic mix of two, three and four bedroom houses in varying sizes and styles. There is a

generous specification including fully fitted kitchens, vanity units and wardrobes to the master bedroom. Added to that, there is also the comfort of knowing that every property is covered by the NHBC Buildmark warranty.

There are also a number of smaller houses and apartments which be provided for rent and shared ownership through a separate Housing Association.

The development provides plenty of choice for everyone, from first-time buyers just starting out, to growing families looking to make the next step on the property ladder all the way through to ‘downsizers’ looking for a more manageable home without compromising on space.

How a home should be.
