Abdi Marang Gusti AlhaqRegional ChairpersonAMSA-Indonesia

Dear  people  of  tomorrow,

Asian  Medical   Students’  Associa8on-‐Indonesia  is  an  organiza8on  which  consists  of   faculty   medicine   of   27   universi8es   around   Indonesia.   Many   people   think  AMSA-‐Indonesia  is  a  place  where  we  can  gain  extra  knowledge  which  we  cannot  gain   in   our   faculty   (e.g   communica8on,   scien8fic   paper,   leadership).   Others    think  of  AMSA  as  a  place  where  people  can  be  useful  medical   students  through  our   social   programs,   so   that   the  members   are   medical   students   who   act,  not  only   talking   about   theories.   For   me,  AMSA   is   not   only   about   knowledge   and  ac8on,  but   also  a  new  family.  A  place  where  we  can   develop  ourselves  and   be  brave  to  learn  from  our  mistakes.

In  2014/2015,  AMSA-‐Indonesia  has  a  vision   to  build  a   bePer   organiza8on   that  focuses  on  developing  members’   quali8es.  Our   rou8ne   training   is   the   basic   of  our   development   program.   Facili8es   from   structural   job   posi8on   makes   it  possible   for   us   to   implement   training   into   ac8on.   Those   ac8vi8es   are   our  commitment   to  make   Indonesia’s  medical   students’  become  a   bePer,  smarter  doctor   and   more  empathic   to  a   pa8ent’s   condi8on,   thus   enhancing  us   to   face  worldwide  occupa8onal  compe88ons.

We  encourage  people  from  many  backgrounds,  organiza8ons  and   ins8tu8ons  to  unite   our   vision   to   the  bePerment   of   Indonesia.  AMSA,   although   focusing  on  health  problems,  is  open   to  all   kind  of  ac8vi8es  to  make   Indonesia  bePer   than  before.   The   latest   example   is   our   agreement   with   Asian   Law   Student  Associa8ons-‐Indonesia  on  developing  our  human   resources.  Another  example  is  our  agreement  with   HOPE  Worldwide  Organiza8on   on   developing  our  na8on’s  health.

I  hope  this  booklet  can  describe  a  liPle  of  AMSA-‐Indonesia,  so  that  people  can  understand  what  our  concern  is  and  how  we  do  our  ac8vi8es.  Feel  free  to  contact  me  to  know  more  about  AMSA-‐Indonesia  or  to  discuss  about  the  brighter  future  of  Indonesia.  We  can  be  agents  of  change,  for  kindness.  Now  let’s  together  build  a  bePer  country,  because  a  big  thing  comes  from  a  small  thing  and  future  comes  from  the  present.

Learning  to  do,  living  to  serve,

AMSEPINDONESIA

AMSA-Indonesia makes it possible for its members to have an exchange to other countries through AMSEP. It started back in 2003 of which, from that moment on, the growth significantly increases every year. AMSEP bilateral system was established in 2006. Now, the chapters that are involved in AMSEP including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Australia, and Egypt.

AMSEP creates opportunities for the International preclinical and clinical exchanges between AMSA chapters. It is commonly a 7-day program, depending on the hosting country, but every program should contain at least the following aspects: academic activity, social activity, cultural exchange and city tour. This programe, therefore, fulfills the whole AMSA visions; Knowledge, Action and Friendship in a distinct way.

We have been actively participating in AMSEP since it started back then. In the last 3 years, Indonesia has been involved in many AMSEP deals with other chapters such as Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, and Taiwan. AMSEP is a twinning program, hence basically there are 2 main parts in AMSEP, the incomings/inbound and the outgoings/outbound.

INCOMINGS/INBOUNDIncomings/inbound is the part of AMSEP when we host the delegates from the client chapter.

OUTGOINGS/OUTBOUNDOutgoing/outbound is the part of AMSEP when we send delegates to the partner chapter. Every active AMSA member of AMSA Indonesia can apply to be the delegate in the outgoing AMSEP. The registration requires CV, motivation letter, recommendation letter, and registration fee.
