Amos and his family left Greene Country a few years later and briefly settled in Knox County, giving rise to a

the waterway, named Bird's Creek. There, he built a fort or station house on the frontier of Knox County,

before yet again moving on to his final destination 'Upper Louisiana Territory', now St. Girardeau, Missouri.
