AMO-TEatro FestivalThe Festival AMO-TEatro 2017, 8th Theater Show

of Madeira is held in Camacha, and is promoted by the Grupo de Teatro Experimental da Casa do Povo of Camacha (TEC), in partnership with the Casa do Povo of that location.

The 8th AMO-TEatro aims to establish partnerships and interchanges, to arrange joint productions with other groups from Madeira, the mainland and abroad, as well as with the various theatrical agents, giving voice to the various forms of artistic representation.

The event, which will take place from March 24th to April 2sd, will be attended by five groups from the mainland, three regional groups and one group from Cape Verde. In addition to the usual stage performances, it inaugurates an exhibition by an artist from Camacha, Valter de Sousa, and promotes the Clown Workshop, held from March 28th to 31st in Camacha, lectured by the ART’IMAGEM Theater from Porto.

AMO-TEatro Festival has the support of Casa do Povo da Camacha, DRC – Direção Regional da Cultura, Camacha Parish Council, Santa Cruz City Hall and merchants from Funchal and Camacha.

The ‘Comércio do Funchal’, bypassed the Censura (control of the press by the official authorities), affirmed freedom of expression, promoted Madeira, and still today is remembered as one of the leading newspapers opposing Oliveira Salazar and Marcelo Caetano’s dictatorial regime.
