A Lecture by Prof Mahesh Vidhya Alankar, Professor, Delhi University was organised for the students on April 13 th, 2016 on the theme “Life and Moral Values”.

Amity Institute of Education (AIE), Saket, New Delhi organised an Inter-school Sanskrit Navarasa Competition

on “Bhavnayo ke Rang, Navrasa ke Sang, Jiwan me Utaarey hum, Sanskrit ke Sang” on April 19th 2016.

Amity Institute of Education organized a two day workshop on „Critical Understanding of ICT‟ at Amity University, UP on

February 29th and March 1st2016.

The workshop catered to the need of accessing and utilizing the digital platforms, e learning resources, social media platforms

among other components of ICT to enhance digital literacy and corresponding work efficiency. The hands on training for the

purpose of creating blogs, discussion forums, e –portfolios, digital storytelling and storyboarding, educational gaming and using peer

networking were the main topics that were covered in the workshop.

The workshop followed a ‘learning by doing’ approach, while conducting the sessions. We received not only the theoretical

knowledge sharing related to ICT by the AIIT faculty but also the practical training to actually play with these digital tools in order

to incorporate them in our learning. The relevant nature of ICT was the underlying theme of each workshop, as each of the mediums

discussed had great significance and greater applicability in our lives as 21st century professionals living in a digital age.

Being able to gather the relevance of ICT over the teaching profession, we realized the scope and the ways through which we as

future teachers can bring the ICT into the classroom, and contribute to the new wave of teaching and learning, in one of the sessions.

This particular session deserves a mention here. It spoke about the need, relevance, appropriateness, validity and use of ICT

resources and specified the ways through which a teacher may use ICT to enhance her teaching and facilitate the learning process of

the students.

In another session, we were made familiar with the feasible way to make sense of the large storehouse of the data, i.e through

Microsoft Excel. Learning to compute data and compiling it to derive a meaning out of it, is no more a tedious exercise as the

session promised us. It really is a ‘must know’ tool for all those who wants to professionally grow and work in almost any

organization, teaching, corporate, retail, telecom etc.

After a two day workshop we were happy to learn something that has become extremely important to be learnt in today’s world. The

learning that we derived out of the two day workshop shall remain and be used by us in our work life, and in our day to day lives

too, as we need to make the best of the benefits that ICT offers us today.

Report on ICT Workshop

Ishwar Allah Tero Naam, Sabko Sanmati De Bhagwaan

March 12th,1930 was the day when most significant organized action against British took place. The day exercised tremendous

pressure on British Government as Gandhi ji and 78 other satyagraha is marched from Sabarmati Ashram to the coastal village of

Dandi in Gujarat, determined to break salt laws imposed by British Government. The protest although non violent, sparked the

patriotism among thousands of Indians and with Gandhi ji’s effective speeches against salt taxes, more and more people to joined

the march. The marchers were greeted by local villagers with drums and cymbals. To accomplish salt satyagraha they walked more

than 200 miles singing Gandhi ji’s favorite devotional song on their way,

Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Patita Paawan Seeta Ram,

Ishwar Allah Tero Naam, Sabko Sanmati De Bhagwaan…

Of course the protesters had physical strength to carry out the march on foot but the song provided them the inner strength, peace

and utmost spiritual benefit. In the song, Lord Rama and Goddess Seeta are asked to uplift the downtrodden, those who have fallen

from the path of righteousness.

The song emphasized to unite Hindu and Muslims, by conveying that Ishwar and Allah both are God’s name and God is known by

different names by different worshippers. Actually, God is one. Taking song as medium, the worshipper is requesting God to bless

people with wisdom, knowledge, and pious sense. This song was sung to uplift the spirit of satyagrahis and to build up their courage

to fight against the British salt monopoly. The contribution of this song to some extent made salt march, an important part of Indian

Independence Movement. Today the song is very popular devotional song in India and is regularly chanted as bhajan or prayer.

It spreads peace, joy and purifies our soul.

Art and Craft Workshop

Workshops are those activities that are conducted to enhance the skills of an individual which in turn helps in structuring a set format and pattern for the students when those individuals become the future teachers of those students. These workshops help to highlight the strong formation of the students so as to strengthen their talent in a particular field. They play an important role in molding the raw material of creativity of the individuals which can later be useful in shaping the star quality of these individuals. At Amity Institute of Education, Saket our Art & Craft faculty members Dr. Sadhna Tyagi and Ms. Deepti Madhura organised such workshops for us. These were very well planned and gave us complete overview of art and craft that will be useful to us in future . The workshop included the following : Puppet Making : Children easily believe in puppets and relate to them. They are always keen to enter and explore the fascinating inventive world that puppets create. We were fortunate enough to learn the art of puppet making and that too of two different types i.e. bottle puppet and paper puppet. Learning through play is fundamental to children’s education and also helps them to develop the necessary creative skills in life. Through the art I learnt that puppets encourage creative interaction among the students. The teachers were very supportive and emphasized that adding color to the puppets makes the workshop even far more interesting.

Clay modeling workshop We were asked by our faculty members to bring some clay so as to actively participate in the art of creative clay modeling. Our instructor was very cooperative the entire time of our stay. He was successful in giving us necessary information at the required time .The workshop was an outlet for us to express our emotions and gave us an opportunity to develop our sensory motor skills. The workshop helped us to develop the art of manipulating the materials into a shape desired by us. We were all very excited to make interesting shapes out of clay. Paper recycle workshop We all use paper in our daily lives without even realizing the importance of recycling papers. Papers are a very useful resource in today’s life. It is very necessary for us as future teachers to promote recycling among the students.“Students of today are citizens of tomorrow” The responsibility of saving the environment resources is in the hands of the young generations. Our supervisor in charge was kind enough to explain each and every process in a cooperative way and was able to satisfy our every inquiry. She explained the entire processes of paper recycle one by one by giving us the demo itself. She then allowed us to try the steps so that we can successfully quench our thirst of curiosity. We as students were very excited to perform this activity and at the end of the activity all of us had a smile on our face. Visit to Crafts Museum, Pragati Maidan, Delhi During this course of workshop, we were even taken to the crafts museum to see and learn from the craftsmen working at the museum. A day long visit at the museum was very fruitful and interesting for us. —Editorial Team

A Week at Military Training Camp The most awaited Military Training Camp was scheduled by Amity

Institute of Education, Saket for us in the month of February for six

days from 14thFebruary, Sunday to 19thFebruary, Friday.

The students gathered in the college on the scheduled Sunday morning

to undertake the journey to Manesar for the camp. Though the journey

was not long but was cheerful as the students sang, gossiped and hooted

in excitement.

After reaching the destination around 10:30 am, we gathered outside the

tent area and were allotted our respective tents. We were then told to

unpack and settle ourselves in our respective tents and to have our lunch

and report at 3:30 pm for the day that was planned out for us.

After having our lunch, Camp Administrative JCO Subedar

K.S. Shekhawat handed over to us our utensils and army personnel

outfit to engrave the intimates of a cadet in army. After freshening up,

all the cadets reported outside the camp to be allotted to different

Platoons under the training staff for preparing for the various activities

organized for us in these 5-6 days. Then getting acquainted with our

Commanding Officer of our respective Platoons, we were taken to have

a glimpse of Dog Show in which two different breeds of dogs showed

their rehearsed stunts which the audience was amazed to see.

The schedule was followed by our visit to herbal garden where we got

information about descents, usefulness and various other medicinal

uses of many herbal plants. The day ended with us being taken to the auditorium for our introductory lecture delivered by our Camp

Commandant Col Ravinder Singh intimating us with the various rules and regulations and the code of conduct expected from us in

the camp. That day we had our dinner early in the night and were allowed to take rest. We were instructed about the planning of the

next coming days. We were told to be ready at 6:30 a.m the next day to go for P.T.

With great enthusiasm, all students woke early in the morning and got prepared themselves for the P.T at 6:30 a.m sharp. After

returning from P.T we were given our breakfast and after it we all were trained for drills. In the afternoon, our Commanding Officer

also taught us the skill of Map Reading. With that done, we were taken to the grounds to try our hand at the stretch laid out with

obstacles. Before departing for lunch, we had a lecture scheduled in the auditorium on the topic of Nuclear War fare. The evening

schedule after the lunch was more interesting as we went for trekking through the hills, bushes and thorns for about 5 km which

proved to be something as a sign of valor. After trekking we were allowed to take rest and thus the second day ended in the same

fashion as the first day.

For the third day at MTC during the PT period, we had a race around a path marked out for us around the Amity University Campus.

Then we had a usual drill practice after breakfast. After that, our platoon was taken for a session of shooting with 22 Air Rifle which

came out to be a novel and fun experience for many of us. Before lunch, we were taken to the auditorium for our lecture with

Lt. Gen Bopanna on the topic of Disaster Management. The lecture was quite informative and insightful. Giving us leave early in the

day, we were told to huddle outside our camp at around 6:30 for an activity of night trekking which was to be completed before the

dinner time. During that activity, we were taught about various strategies adopted by the armed forces for the purpose of night

patrolling. That was risky yet adventurous activity as we solely had to rely on our hearing power to get a sense of the place around us

at night.

The fourth day proved to be the most important day for all of us because it was planned for adventure trainings like Rock Climbing,

Rappelling, Para Sailing, which outsourced as lifetime experience for every student. After lots of hustle and tussle, an inspiring mov-

ie was organized for us in the night to innovate a sense of pride and honour in ourselves and establish a feeling patriotism within us.

After the movie we had our dinner and rested afterwards.

On the fifth day, we had many competitions in the day. The competitions, held in the day after our regular drill practices, were Tug

of War, Obstacle Course, Cross Country Run and shooting. That was a joy filled event where everybody cheered and hooted for their

candidates. The same night a D.J party was organised and collectively group of boys and girls gathered to enjoy at the music beats

on front of fire flares. That was some real enjoyment. After it we were served dinner and allowed to take rest.

On the sixth and the last day, we did march past and best performers were rewarded.

Then we moved the auditorium where the Camp Commandant Col Ravinder Singh held a debate competition in which ten students

participated and out of which only one was selected as the winner. After this addressal ceremony, We packed up our goods and

returned the camping stuff in proper manner. In about an hour, we boarded the bus to come back to Noida. We came back to AIE at

about 6 p.m. and henceforth went back to home. This was a short lived militant life for us and the memories of which will be
