AMI Penta upgrade
Requirements
- PVI 3.0.2 from: http://dgt.senmatic.com/DownloadsAndUpdates/LCC/BackupUtil/PVI.zip
- Backup Utility Program 1.2.2.7 from:
http://dgt.senmatic.com/DownloadsAndUpdates/LCC/BackupUtil/BackUtil%201.2.2.7.zip
- Latest AMI Penta upgrade file from: http://dgt.senmatic.com/
- ParameterChangelog file is located inside the AMI Penta upgrade folder
Procedure
1. Add your AMI Penta system on Backup Utility program
a. Click on the “+” button
b. Enter the Name and IP of your Penta system. Select “AMI Penta” as type. Check the
recipes and groups you would like to backup. Finally click on “OK”.

2. Backup
a. Check your added Penta system then click on “Backup checked” to start the backup
process.
b. Confirm the configuration

3. Apply Changelog
a. Click on the “Apply Changelog” tab
b. Varlist file: Select and Navigate to your backup folder “YOUR_DOCUMENTS\Senmatic Backup
Util\Backups\yyyy-mm-dd” and select the backup file containing your configuration name “YOUR_CONF_NAME.txt”

c. Changelist file: Select and Navigate to your AMI Update folder and select the
“ParamenterChangelog.txt” file.
d. Select Output file: Enter a name for your output file and save it in your desired location.
e. Select “AMI” as system type and click on “Run”

4. Update the AMI
a. Navigate to your update folder and click on “Start Update.bat” to begin the update
process.
b. Choose Ami node number

c. Verify IP address
d. Make sure you took a backup before proceeding.

e. Allow access for File transfer program if you are prompted for it. If the “File Transfer
Program” is still blocked please check your windows firewall settings on the control
panel and verify that the “File Transfer Program” is allowed. Deactivate any Anti-virus
software for a while and try running the update again.
f. New operation system (only if required)
i. If operation system is required, press OK to continue.

ii. Change the AMI IP address to 10.4.1.139 and set INA node to 139 for the panel
you are about to update. If you have another machine set to 10.4.1.139 please
change it to a temporary IP address and INA node different from 10.4.1.139 to
avoid IP conflict. (Only if new OS required)
The IP address and INA node can be changed by going into Unit Setup.
g. Automatic IO configuration will now take place. Please make sure that the expansion is
connected to the AMI with an ethernet cable via the Powerlink port. Make sure to not

power off/restart the AMI during the IO configuration or exit the update program.
h. If you have an antivirus program running on the machine, please deactivate it
temporarily until the update has finished. Do not press the OK button until the antivirus
program has been deactivated.

i. You can now set the AMI panel back to the origin IP Address before the update has been
started. (Only if new OS was required)

j. Backup utility program is required for future backups, since the structure on the AMI
has changed. Press “Yes” if you don’t have Backup Utility version 1.2.2.7 otherwise press
“No”. If you click on “yes” follow the prompt procedure on the screen.

k. Start the restore with your backup file. Do not press on “OK” until you have made the
restore. If you don’t have any backup file, press also “OK”.
i. Restore
1. Check your AMI configuration. Ensure that the IP address is correct and
click on “Restore backup into this”.
2. Click on “Select” and choose the file you applied with parameter
changelog. Please note restoring the AMI with a wrong file may require
a reinstall of the AMI update.

3. Click on “OK”
l. Make a new backup with the backup utility 1.2.2.7 to ensure that you have the latest
supported backup file for future updates. Press “OK” when the backup is done.
m. Update finished.
