    5 EXPERIENCES YOU CANNOT MISS...

The rst thing you must do when visiting Anna Maria Island is tonotsurprisinglyexplore its recently re-nourished beaches. Seven miles ofpowdery white sand stretch from Bean Pointto Bradenton Beach, andeach mile brings a dierent setting, with varied aquatic life, waving seagrasses, and a selection of beach-front restaurants oset by stretchesof calm, uncrowded shoreline. One constant, of course, is the glittering,blue-green water capped in white foam.

    Explore the Beaches...1

Experience the dream of riding a horseon a picturesque beach. Then, stay on horseback as your hoofed companion swims right into PalmaSola Bay. That's rightyou can ride a swimming horse! Learn how to"horse surf" and "horse ski," which are pretty much exactly how theysound: balance on your feet on the horse's broad back as it movesthrough the water. You'll likely see a few dolphins swimming past duringyour adventure, too.

Horseback Riding (& Surfng) on the Beach...2

On Anna Maria Island, you can explore almost anywhere by bicycle, including on the sand beaches and on the roads, where the slow speedlimit and lack of trac make cycling safe. Take time to enjoy wildlifelike squirrels, native birds like the Blue Heron, and if you're lucky, seamammals like dolphins or manatees. Terry recommends ABC Rentals, which will pick up and deliver bikes right at the doorstep of youraccommodations.

    Explore the Island by Bike...3

The Fish Hole oers family-friendly entertainment with a nauticaltheme. Going beyond traditional miniature golf, The Fish Hole haswaterfalls, lagoons, treacherous handicaps, and a bit of local historyand shing education mixed in. Each of the 18 holes is named for adierent sh, like the Black Tip Shark and The Barracuda. Looking for

more adventure? Head to Smugglers Golfwhere you can play 18 holessurrounded by live alligators!
