    Description Bondstrand PSX JF and PSX L3 fiberglass reinforced polysiloxane-phenolic pipingsystems may be used for offshore platforms and onshore services where fire-resistant

    piping w ith low smo ke emiss ions a nd low toxicity are req uired. Bo nds trand P S X J F and

    P S X L3 products are des igned for use in dry and wet d eluge s ystems where low weight

    co rrosion resistanc e a nd fire-resista nce are d esired. The po lysiloxa ne-phenolic (P S X

    resin is a revolutiona ry technologica l brea kthrough de veloped through extensive res ea rch

    and testing b y Ameron. The product is d esigned to w ithsta nd hyd roc arbon fire including

    jet fire a t over 300 KW/m2 hea t flux from 0.3 kg/se c. , high velocity imping ing propa ne

    flam e. Low s moke a nd toxicity emission, and low flam e sp rea d ma ke it suitab le for use in

    enclosed s pac e a nd c ritica l service a reas .

    PSXL3 a nd PSXL3C (co nductive) have U.S . C oa st G uard Type Approval per IMO

    Reso lution A.753 (18) and P FM 1-98 (Certifica tes 164.141/5/0 a nd 164.141/6/0, res pec

    tively.)

    Performance PSXJF pipe ha s proved c apa ble of maintaining rated service p ress ure w ith no lea k afteexposure to impinging jet fire for a period of 5 minutes with the pipe empty, followed by

    injec tion of w a ter at 150 ps i (10 ba r) a nd a flow rate o f les s tha n 73 liters/minute for an

    additional 15 minutes. After the heat was removed, the piping was pressurized for an

    a dd itiona l 60 minutes a t 150 psi (10 ba r), then 60 minutes a t 225 psi (15 ba r), follow ed by 5

    minutes a t 350 psi (24 ba r). No pa ss ive fire protec tion is need ed on the joints.

    PSXL3 pipe is c ap ab le of ma intaining rated se rvice p ress ure a fter 30 minutes sta gna n

    wet exposure to 1100 C fire a nd 113.5 kW/m2 heat flux. P SX L3 pipe a nd fittings meet

    IMO Level 3 fire test req uirements even w ith the sma lles t diam eter (1" ) pipe a nd Quick-

    Lock joint with no pas sive fire protection nee de d o n the joint.

    P ipe a nd fittings are des igned to ope rate at up to 225 psi system press ure.

    Lock bell and flanged ends drilled to ANSI Class 150. Flanges conforming to other

    sta nda rds such a s ANSI Clas s 300, JIS, DIN or IS O are ava ilab le upon req uest.

    J oining systems Quick-Lock straight/ta per ad hes ive bo nde d joint, with integ ral pipe

    sto p in be ll for pred icta ble, precise laying lengths . The pipe is shipped w ith Quick-Lock

    bell x shaved spigot end co nfigurations. Matching tape r ad hesive bond ed joint ava ilab le

    for 12- throug h 16-inch sizes for 225 ps i (15 MPa ) rating.

    AdhesiveBondstrand PS X 34 epoxy s iloxa ne a dhes ive for bond ing joints. For more

    kits or 6-pac ks.

    Testing and standards Bondstrand products are manufactured to meet the highest standard of quality inac co rda nce w ith IS O 9001. The products are de signed to mee t ANSI and AS TM

    standards. Bondstrand P SX L3 and PS X J F piping meet all applica ble requirements of

    AS TM F1173 for fiberglass -reinforced resin pipe a nd fittings .

    Testing for IMO Level 3 fire e ndurance has bee n performed b y independ ent labo ratories

    and witnesse d b y third pa rties. De t Norske Veritas has ce rtified tha t PS X L3 pipe syste ms

    meet the requirements for IMO Level 3. The United S tates Co as t Gua rd ha s a cc epted

    P S X L3 products for applications requiring IMO Level 3 performance in 8-inch and

    sma ller diameters.P S X J F products have bee n tes ted by S INTEF Energy for performa nce in jet fire

    co nditions in ac co rdanc e w ith UKOOA guidelines. The P S X J F system mee ts the require-

    ments for fire endura nce in a hyd roca rbon jet fire, ce rtified by S INTEF.
